New for '05--maXair

That area to the right by Sir Rub-a-dub's does not look big enough for a queue. I thought maybe that was going to be a pre-grouping area. I hope to god CP was smart enough to use one of those. Ride stops, op opens the gate and people run to their seats. No counting out 50 people at that time since it would have already been done during the ride cycle. Look at the differeence it makes at PKI on Delerium compared to a DropZone where they don't have one. Similarly, look how much faster PKD's DropZone loads, compared to PKI's.

Wait. What's our seat numbers again? ;)

It looks as if they just put up a temporary orange fence around it. That must mean they want to test it already!!! they aren't waiting for the fence to get in and installed! Less than a month left!!!

Just on the webcam maXair was beginning to swing.

My question is why is there a big opening of dirt in one area and to the right they have the concrete poured? Are they putting in some special plates in like they did for Wicked Twister?

they could be..

or it's just waiting for bricks to be layed, or a design, or flagpoles, or... whatever else I'm sure we'll be able to see come opening day.

Looking at the webcam now, it's amazing how much a few planter boxes and a little concrete can transform the area into looking nice. It looks like they're going to be planting trees or something to hide the electrical room next to the ride. I wonder if the sign for the ride will be like the one seen in the concept art. It would look really cool if it is.

I'm going to disagree, while it is kinda silly for us to judge based on construction photos/webcam, I think there is a LACK of new trees/planters. Take a look at these photos:

I haven't been on site, but it seems from construction pictures some of the trees could have stayed in the second picture. While clearing out all the trees/games booth do allow people to see the ride, it looks like its going to be a big cement area.

Ok, so I'm a crazy 'tree-hugger' but I think Cedar Point has been taking out a lot of trees in recent years. They really do add to the atmoshpere of the park... just look at the Frontier Trail(espically pre-MF).

Again, since I haven't been on site, maybe I can't see everything, but from construction photos/webcam it certainly looks like a lot of trees bit the dust.

Let's just hope they come back, I'm sure the park will do the best to bring as many trees back as possible.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Most trees take a long time to grow. Planting smaller trees really doesn't provide as much shade or atmosphere (untill they get older) as the older trees. But I don't own or run the park. I just don't like vast deserts of concrete anywhere, this goes for zoos as well. Just looking at Southwyck mall here in south Toledo is crazy. It just looks awful, its a huge vast land of blacktop. This goes for CP's parking lot as well. Cp 1984, this picture gives you an idea of how the view is looking straight down.

Yeah it's definately going to look weird walking down that way and not seeing games or that part of Kiddy Kingdom. It's going to be cool though seeing MaXair in there though because a lot of times those game hosts were looking for something to do.
