What to look for now would be white marks, which as posted in the other thread have to do with excavating.
And you'll not see anything like that for a while, until concrete/buildings/etc., if necessary, have been removed.

^^^If your orange marks are in any way accurate compared to the real stakes, a circle (i.e., the minimum footprint of a Star Flyer) that encompasses all three of those stakes would require removing Coral Courtyard, and probably the stadium as well.
Keep in mind that these markings don't necessarily represent where the attraction will be, or what will even be removed. They represent places all over the entire conceivable site where utilities exist. If we were to apply your same logic to the markings for Maverick, Antique Cars would no longer be there, since there were utility markings around it at the time. Similarly, CCMR would have been removed for Skyhawk under such an assumption.

Thanks for stating that dj (again). Anyone else feel like they are repeating themselves in 4 threads right now? Cause I do.

I feel like I've repeated that same warning 10 times this season.
It's my own fault for being naive enough to assume people actually read before posting. ;)

Dj I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on something. Ensign Smith was talking specifically about the stakes in the sand (beach), It's my opinion that they wouldn't have posted the photo of the stake unless it meant something to do with a more direct location of the ride. Perhaps I'm reading your post wrong and you're only speaking of the paint and flag markings, not the stakes, but what you quoted was talking about the stakes and not the red/green/blue spray paint areas.

Posting a photo of a stake is probably more compelling and exciting than posting a photo of some random paint spot. I mean, if you really think that being posted on the blog is indicative of relevance, you clearly haven't been following the blog very long. :)
That said, of course the stake (and the other stakes and the paint markings) has something to do with the location of the ride. It's going to be near the beach, as has already been stated by Kinzel. The stake is likely nothing more than a marker for utilities. Depending on the location where utilities are being marked, flags, stakes or paint are used, per Ohio regulations.

you got a point there...that seems to be the best explanation as to why Tony and Tyler would even mention it...that part has to be part of the attraction itself.
People who don't know me think I'm quiet...People who do, wish i was!
for starters why would anyone blog about a measly little dot for pipelines...if that had nothing to do with the actual attraction...most anyone can determine small dots like would more than likely be for underground pipe markings so why mention specifically the 3 stakes

ouch...what was that for??

DJ - your face and palm are going to be sore really quick if you do that everytime.

speedy, he was saying you can't take the blog as 100% fact. They mess with us a lot, last year, they were saying stuff like "Gee See Eye" or whatever. Did we get a GCI?
When Maverick was being rumored they posted signs up saying "New ride goes here" on random office buildings.
Yes the stake is relevant, but it's not more important because they posted it's picture on the blog.

Haha, I've been going to CP for almost 30 years and have been following the blog for the most part even in the time I lived in Florida, so don't go that route with me. We all know CP will post things to throw us off, but with the hints given and the picture of the spot stated above I find it hard to believe it's not relevant. I think you are not understanding my point because I'm a bit confused about the disagreement here. If you think I'm talking about footers, the answer is no. I never said that the beach stakes are the exact position of the ride in my eyes, nor did I ever claim the ride would take up the entire area that the stakes mark. When I said "directly related to the ride" I meant the lines themselves. In fact I don't think anyone here has said anything about the stake being a specific point on the ride. We all clearly see the flag on the stake itself. In your quote above you said the blog post CP made about the stake had no relevance and yet in the next paragraph you say the stake is related to the ride itself. If the ride isn't in that general area, why run lines out there? Giant corn-hole scoreboard?

they're mean :p
but i thought the whole gee see eye thing was partly because the delay...but whatever, considering that i am a new poster...
hey that reminds me...have they officially set a date to announce or is it just sometime in august?
People who don't know me think I'm quiet...People who do, wish i was!
Nah people here are very nice, just have disagreements at times, no worries :)
Well the GCI was one of many coaster manufactures that were dropped as clues for last year, but afterwards CP started checking off names on the list, including GCI. I would be thrilled to see a GCI wooden coaster, I think we are long overdue. The question became what was really planned before the delay happened, and that's what we will soon find out. Haven't heard an announcment date yet, mid-August is the time frame so far.

i was actually referring to Tony and Tyler, but i can see the mix up...is it me or does this seem like the shortest discussion time btw finding out about project 2011 and the announcement
it must be me ;)

I think the stakes are markers for where a sub-base of concrete will be poured...possibly for a footer (no, not a footer for a coaster).
With each new ride, these stakes pop up, and each time they are marked "SB # 1", "SB # 2", etc...Maverick had many, many of these stakes.
With this project, we have three SB stakes...numbered 1, 2, and 3...and they form a triangle.
Promoter of fog.
wait are you saying that u expect the concrete structure to form that triangle...never seen that either
People who don't know me think I'm quiet...People who do, wish i was!
No.
All I am saying is that there looks to be three concrete footers in a triangle (marked by SB stakes).
For example; Maxair has 4 legs of support...perhaps what CP is getting will have 3. That's what I am guessing.
