I don't think it would take much research for them to figure out whether you were in a loop that knew. If, last year, for example Jeff Putz wins by guessing it's Shoot the Rapids, 3 feet higher than SRF's, with a 2nd drop and tunnel, they chuck his out. But if Joey Smith, working at the local Wal-Mart in Ann Arbor gets pretty darn close...
I don't know, you're right, it may not work...
Anyways...
@ JUGGS: it would just be a publicity stunt to build hype...the poor intern reading them doesn't really matter.
Hey, I was a poor intern once upon a time. No need to dump something like this on them.

I was way off with the SB thing. I'm hoping that in between now and the announcement we get a couple more "hints" from Tony just to stoke the fire a little bit. :)

Dj, nice job finding those pics. There goes my grand theory.... Of course, it doesn't do anything to the Star Flyer hypothesis, besides demonstrating that the stakes may/will have nothing to do with the actual placement or dimensions of the ride.

I know usually it's nothing, but cp said on twitter that there will be a new pointcast uploaded sometime tonight.
80+ coasters and counting
You never know...they will probably toss a morsel or two our way, but I would bet that it would nothing more than T & T looking at the stakes and pondering out loud about "what could it be"...
I had a rare moment of spare time and looked at different manufacturers of flats, and there really isn't anything that stands out aside from the Starflyer. Huss, S & S, and others (including Funtime) have nothing new at all, at least according to their websites.

I dont see a starflyer goin in because of how bad the capacity on these things are...

Does anyone remember last years predictions of a Huss Topple Tower? Does anyone think that has a shot of coming to the Point?
Speaking of which, I haven't seen RaceRinger or some of the other users who were so adamant about being right about last years ride.
He hasn't worked at the park in nearly 3 years.
So, we have not been to the park since the middle of July...anything new popping up or still just three stakes?

Well, 2 years to be exact, but who's counting? ;)
I heard a few things from the same source that told me about STR, but nothing too conclusive. I guess Bill Spehn spilled some beans in a staff meeting about the new ride costing $5 million, but I haven't heard much more than that. My source's speculation based on some info given to them was that it might be a ZacSpin, but if what Kinzel said is true about the ride not being an Intamin, we can throw that speculation right out the window.
So, more or less the cost of a GCI woodie? (Renegade cost $6.5m according to rcdb)
This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!
Not necessarily. A park like CP demands a coaster with a higher capacity than Valleyfair's GCI (850 pph). As such, the cost of the ride would likely increase.
Not to mention that Kinzel's ego requires everything at CP to be the biggest or bestest or whatever. The "-est" costs money.

I'm thinking we get the boardwalk/walkway out on the beach, a flat (like a star flyer). Then everything will be in place for a nice woodie to run up and down the new walkway in 2012.
I think it'd be a great start to getting that "dead" area of the park up and jumping the way Frontier Trail is.
Being a great idea does not mean the park will implement it. But I do agree that it would be an excellent idea.
