Let's Get Weird.

To get things back on track, Point Pixels has more photo's posted of the paint markings. There's more recent pics posted online including the area around maxair someone mentioned. Some new sand mounds too, I can't tell if it's the same place as the other ones though. We have a map somewhere in this thread of the previous markers if someone wants to update it. Sounds just like a widening or resurface of the midways though.

Are the stakes gone?

I don't know, that's what I couldn't tell; if it were the same piles just without the stakes or new ones.

It looks as if the stakes have been removed.

the ones on the beach are gone.

The stakes that were on the beach are now gone. It appears that as of those pictures (July 25, 2010) they had raked the beach and had gone around those stakes, so it is possible that they were removed that morning.

Tim: Here is the updated map, not too much change. There are just a few markings by maxAir/arcade and a few water marking on the WT midway near the stadium, that seem to have been there as long as the other water markings we just didn't have pics of them.

I don't think those are the same mounds with the stakes, they're different mounds w/o stakes

I walked the beach yesterday. To me, the stake free mounds seemed to be in the same location as where the stakes were before.

We were walking on the boardwalk not far from the hotels and we saw Dick Kinzel along with some other shirt and tie people really looking over the boardwalk area, just kind of interesting.

Found this in a trip report. Seems interesting...

So if I look correctly at the map, It seems like the stake is located right behind Ocean Motion, that means that in relation to the size of the other flat rides in the park, this would have to be a pretty big flat ride to fill the footprint of where that stake is, presuming that they're using the space taken by Ocean Motion for the ride as well. This leads me to believe even more that they've got a coaster up their sleeves, if it was a smaller less impressive ride they surely wouldn't already be starting advertising and on site planning would they?

Just a thought...

Thank you CP fanatic for the updated map!

Well the problem with that is we don't know if they are planning a restructuring of the areas shown. I would think though, that more pipes, lines etc would be marked between the 2 corners of each marked area, I mean from Ocean Motion to MA. Maybe there are some that people havent taken photos of?

Someone is going to disagree with me on this, but to me it's a little odd that that area is marked and not the other areas, such as the northeastern side of Maxair, before you get to Disaster Transport. Unless they are not tearing up a large area and instead marking specific areas not to be touched when digging at a certain point. It's all just speculation at this point. Perhaps the other markings in the southwest side of maxair are unrelated, don't know yet. I don't see it being a path of a coaster, it would take up walkway space.

About the advertising, this is much less than we had with STR, and most of the hints have just come from interviews with DK, and not so much on site. As I said before, the only dying shard of hope I have left for a coaster is the coincidence of snoopys 60th birthday party and present and Cyclone being torn down 60 years ago next year.

I went into that picnic area looking for any kind of marking on the ground, I didn't see anything in there. I did find this little marking just outside the picnic area, so it was still worth the effort... :)

Sorry Kyle, but that dot has been around since the first pics that Doug took. It's the top most red dot on the map that I posted.

Interesting that you were not able to find anything in the Coral Courtyard though.

The somewhat confined area of the markings is leading me to believe more of a "flat" ride with a large footprint. Star Flyers have been mentioned a number of times in this thread, and the sheer height of these things would lead me to believe that the supports required would take up a larger area than your standard flat would usually use. Just tossing out a thought here. Hoping it isn't one, Wave Swinger makes me want to hurl. Don't think I even want to try a version that cranks riders up into the area of low flying aircraft and seagulls. As much as I would LOVE a new coaster, IMO we may be waiting another year or two to see something along those lines.

I have to agree with Chase. Unless this is a Zac Spin Coaster, I doubt it will be a coaster. I think if it was a coaster, you would have seen more land clearing by now. If they are planning on putting the new flat where Ocean Motion is, that could really bring more people to that area of the park. This is a thought too depending on what happens with Chaos this year. If Chaos is removed after this season, I could see them move Ocean motion there or where Demon Drop used to be. The new ride could go in up front or where Ocean Motion is at now.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen RaceRinger or some of the other users who were so adamant about being right about last years ride. We usually have folks claiming inside knowledge by this point in the year. You think CP is doing a better job with leaks this year? Or just coincidence?

I'll actually go ahead and say it'll be a 300-foot Star Flyer ride that can hold 64 people. Remember this post.

Wow! Really going out there on a limb, are we?

Seriously though, I would be so happy with that. It would give some really epic rides at night on the beach.

Sounds pretty resonable to me.

I agree, if this indeed comes true, the night rides are going to be awesome. I really hope it has a cool lighting package.
