Tissss....so is the Mantis, and Raptor. I say they should suck it up and get it running.
They always keep it closed from May to September when the waterpark is open, because its right next to the waterpark and it is supposedly pretty loud. But its been shut down all the time, I think since 2003. I think its just in really bad condition. I doubt they will ever have it running again unless they do some serious restoration work on it.
Point Xtreme
Its such an easy equation, it should be in the FAQ or something....

There was a sign on that board that you can't see too well in the picture, but it said 'We're building for the future' or something.

With SFMM getting a flier, it's totally realistic for CP to build a new coaster next year, otherwise the coaster count title is gone. History seems to dictate that this is important to CP. So, we'll see.
I'm in no hurry to build a coaster for next year. I mean If Cedar Point gets knocked out, so what! We still have the best damn coasters on the planet! I think totally that Millennium Force is a better coaster than Goliath. Thats my opinion though, and I think our Top Thrill Dragster is better than their superman. So If we lose the record, don't panic; Cedar Point is still #1. YYEEAAAHHH BABBY!!
from Austin Powers.
lol Shawn,
But anyways regarding that sign. I think think they might be taking it down. I mean its not like they have a sign for everthing.
Like: "Please excuse our mess, we're destroying for your future." :)
They probibly use that sign for everything. Wet floors, downed electrical wires, fresh paint, etc.

CP has the best guest services, cleanest park, best reliability etc. But I'm not gonna lie, if SFMM does get a new flyer, they will have a better ride collection than CP. I know its hard to take, but in all honesty, it will be true. Remember, just collection, I'm not speaking down time or anything.

Better ride collection?
I liked Deja Vu. I would probably rank it ahead of Wicked Twister. It's a mechanical nightmare, however.
I'd rather ride Mean Streak instead of Psyclone. You people who say Mean Streak is rough ought to try Psyclone.
Riddlers Revenge is better than Mantis. Hands down.
Raptor is better than Batman:The Ride
Dumpster is better than Superman:The Escape, but that's mostly because S:TE just flat out sucks.
Ninja and Iron Dragon... Ninja wins barely.
Goldrusher is a lot better than the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
Goliath sucks. Really bad. I'll take the #1 rated steel coaster or the #3 rated steel coaster any day over Goliath.
Viper is better than Corkscrew, obviously.
I'd take Gemini over Colossus, but Colossus has its redeeming qualities.
The only thing that really beats anything Cedar Point has is X. No matter what anyone says, X is a great ride.
Anyway, I still think this SFMM vs CP thing is played up too much by Coaster Enthusiasts. I've had very fun and enjoyable days at both parks.
I 100% agree bholcomb. Although X and Flashback were both down on my only trip to SFMM, I really enjoyed myself. Though there is deffinatly a lot of hills to walk up.
Inregards to the "We're building for your future" I hope they don't remove "Flashback." It looks like a lot of fun and I never got to ride it.
P.S. I'm not sure why but, half my post didn't show up and I had to edit it to get the whole message up.

Flashback is super intense, aside from the long straight-aways the drops are insane!
With face-ripping G's I refer to that ride as "I want my Fleshback!"
Still... you won't see a coaster coming to Cedar Point in 2006, trust me.

I was able to ride Flashback back in '02 and really enjoyed it, a pretty unique ride, although it does bang the hell out of your head.

Plus new flyer, plus Scream! (which I love) and SFMM wins. Alot of people may play it up, but there is a lot of competition between CP and SFMM to have my family go to their park and not the other.
In the last 20 years, Cedar Point has never once gone 3 straight years without a new coaster. I seriously doubt they would do that now, with the competition as hot as it is.
But if they don't get a coaster this year, you can bet they have something huge lined up for 2007 (maybe a 500+ footer).
Point Xtreme
bholcomb I wanted to ask you a couple questions and here they are below.
How would you rank Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster and what rides would you compare them to from SFMM? I would definately say Top Thrill Dragster is a better ride than Superman over there. Millennium Force to me comparing to Goliath, that's a tough one, but I'd have to say Millennium Force wins because it's my all time favorite coaster.
Hopefully they build something with a small footprint. This would mean that whatever megacoaster is built in 07 would be more than just 20 seconds (TTD), seeing as that something small would save money and land for a long track. One suggestion for what they could be building is a coaster with good air time like the Viper at the Chicago craphole park, SF:Great America.
Or these markings might be something to do with the coaster for 07 because if it is big enough it could take more than one winter to build and would require planning this summer, early construction spring-summer 06, and the rest over the fall of 06 and winter 06-07.
Whatever the ride is, I doubt with those markings, it's a 500 foot coaster. They are too close to each other. There is one marking like right next to that Historic building. Another one is too close to Snake River Falls queue. By the way everyone, Clap for me I just reached 500 posts!! YAY!!!!!!
Dragster is boring, so is S:TE. Dragster is more intense, and is a better ride. Dragster actually goes 400+ feet in the air. S:TE barely makes it to the 300 foot mark anymore.
Goliath sucks. It's boring. It's got the one good airtime hump, and thats not nearly as good as the third hill on Magnum. The only reason I rode Goliath this last visit was because the friend I was with doesn't know any better, and he liked it somewhat. Plus, the line was only about 15 minutes.
Scream was okay. If I wasn't over marked parking spaces and shuffling badly, it might have been a better ride.
There isn't a big competition between Magic Mountain and Cedar Point. Sure, there's the whole 'most coasters' 'tallest coaster' blah blah blah, but give me a break.. They're two totally different markets. The bulk of their attendance is made up of totally different people. I'd say the competition between PKI and CP is infinitely greater than it is between SFMM and CP. PKI and CP both draw from the same markets, and thus a competition is born for those people.
I don't see much of a competition, it terms of acquiring guests, between CP and SFMM at all simply because they are on different sides of the country. In terms of the quality and quantity of their coasters, perhaps there is a competition. Cedar Point is a resort, a place where guests can easily stay 2 or more days with plenty to do and have a place to stay over night. Does SFMM have any hotels or things of that nature?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I would also have to say that if they don't put in a coaster this year and only a flat ride, it will be because they are saving up for a huge capital investment in 2007. If that is the case, I hope it's not a 500 foot coaster (with an actual layout), because that's seriously not what the park needs right now. I'm sure the ride would be fun and all, probably one of the best rides ever and would shorten MF's line, but I would have to strongly disagree with that decision.
