MF Island - Construction?

How could you not want a new ride? I don't care how much I love CP, it can always be better. There are so many types of coasters they don't have. So many types of flat rides they don't have.

I have to say it:

Cedar Point does not have a space problem. ©

Well we sure have strayed from the subject haven't we.

What do other people who have actually seen the construction think may be happening. The best explanation I have seen so far is that it is extra dirt used to drain the lagoon in the off-season.

Does anyone know if the lagoon was drained this past off-season? If the lagoon was drained maybe footers could be hidding under the water already. Or this could be dirt being stored for later this season when the lagoon may be drained once again. Maybe the new ride may require a wall like Dragster did, who knows!

Also I am curious as to why Jeff has yet to comment on this topic, he usually puts his two cents in early. Jeff must be on vaction (Or maybe we are on to something here (Probably not though))!

278 coasters and still counting!

There was talk in an older TTD thread about the lagoon being drained but some folks seemed to think that it couldn't be done.

I've seen the dirt, but there isn't much to say about it that hasn't already been said. It's piles of dirt on the island. The most we can discuss about it is our wish lists. :)

CP has gotten 3 new coasters since 2000, MF TTD and WT. SFMM, 4. Goliath, X, Scream, Deja Vu.

And out of those 4, One is closed on Wednesdays, the other is hardly ever working, one of them shuffles and bangs riders around like no other B&M does, and the last one is plain unfun.

Give me MF, Dragster and WT over those 4 any day.

X is worth those 6 put together. Have you ever ridden it? It is the most amazing thing ever created. Now if CP got a 4D... I would be so incredibly happy it would bring tears to my eyes.

I have been on 'X' several times and it is a great ride, but not the most amazing thing ever created, imo.

"X" is not the best ride in my book. I think that Millenium Force is a much better ride. Although don't get me wrong, "X" is also a good ride. But like Grovite18 said "not the most amazing thing ever created"

Yes, I have ridden X. I loved X. It's a nightmare when it comes to maintenance. The capacity sucks.

I really would love to see an X-like-coaster at CP, but they would need to work out all the problems they've had with the only installation first.

That said, I am going back out to ride X in about 2 weeks. :) (But I'm actually looking forward more to Xcelerator and Ghostrider)

Hate to break it to you, but Superman is standing and it is operating.

Last I heard, Superman at SFMM is not operating. I may be wrong here. Anyone know?

Yeah, it's running again.

Well its obvious that CP will build a new coaster right on top of the pond that used to have the swan boats. The roller coaster can extend to millie island somehow though.

i like the old 'turn camper village into a new midway' rumor. THAT is how they should go.

Isn't Flashback the one thats SBNO?

And yeah, Cedar Point doesn't have a space problem, nothing a little re-locating of rides couldn't fix. ;)

They will never close Camper Village/Lighthouse Point. It generates way to much revenue. That's why CP continues to grow it's Resort/Accomodations business.

The place IS all about making money, you know.

And in the process of making a good buck, they happen to provide people like us with a hell of a good time.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I'm not ready to say they will never close Camper Village. I do think that Lighthouse Point is there for the long term but I would not be surprise to see the traditional camp sites eliminated down the road: particularly the "Circle B" sites. If Soak City is ever expanded again it only makes sense that they would move into the Circle.

I don't think that CP will remove Camper Village in the near future or at all for that matter. If they did expand Soak City, it wouldn't be in the direction of Camper Village, but in the opposite direction (an area that is in desperate need for an upgrade). But back to this MF Island deal...

Not so fast, Ejmcoaster,

CP Village/Lighthouse Point is there to stay. The recent improvements (the last 5 years) show that (the underground sewer system must be HUGE). Those campsites they added are SWEET. So are the new cabins and cottages. Are the Rings gone? Yep, no doubt. Ring A already is gone. But it was replaced with newer, better accomodations. The same will happen with Ring B, and it won't be to expand Soak City.

Let's see. . .

. . .what was it that Kinzel had mentioned about a water ride back in Frontier Town?

. . .how many years ago were the Swans removed?

Wave Swinger can be moved, although it certainly wouldn't be removed completely --- they updated it this year with a new 'roof,' so to speak, or at least newly painted.

That would leave quite a bit of area for development.

But, I can't imagine that Mr. Kinzel would speak so openly of a ride that didn't quite happen if it was still coming in the near future.

So what does that leave you with? Nothing much.

A Roller Coaster:)
