I have a feeling that 'Fry' would wither away to nothingness if he lived near any other amusement park in the world. There are some parks out there that havent built new rides in 5, 6, 7+ years. It's not the end of the world. It only seems an inconvenience because [we've all] been spoiled so much by CP, now the CP-loyal people expect other places to be so post-par with everything.
HAHAHAHAHA. I live Oregon smart one. My home park is SFMM, I visit SFMW sometimes, and Universal Studios and KBF. I spend 10 times more time at those parks than CP. And yes, 4 years is a long time. Wow, I am really laughing my head off at your very close minded statement, that only people who live close to CP like it.
CP has gotten 3 new coasters since 2000, MF TTD and WT. SFMM, 4. Goliath, X, Scream, Deja Vu.
Yeah, other parks aren't up to par in keeping up with rides, CP totally spoils me with its ride distribution. Yeah, but SFMM does more. CP is my favorite park, I can be disappointed when we don't get a new coaster. Inside everyone is, so don't play dumb.

Yes, Disaster Transport is a coaster by one classification, but if you had to classify it in a secondary way it would be dark ride. A dark ride doesn't have to be a flat ride.

Well, Race for the Fry, it is something you're going to have to get used to. It looks to me that the major part of the coaster race/wars is about over. Parks are still installing, just not as often. PKI is already doing this and now CP is slowing down along with other parks. You'll just have to find something else to OCD about.
Well for some reason I dont think so. In my opinion it is only a matter of time before the war starts up again. Why you may ask. Well look at what Bush Gardens did this year, also KK was built. Two very well publicly well known. Basicly the slow time was 2004 and it will gain up speed as the years go by. In 2008 I think the wars will be in full speed again.

101 on Magnum and counting...
Building coasters and coaster wars are very much different. I seem to believe that maXair is the beginning of a new age at CP. Non record breaker, non coaster, good ol' ride. There are very few good well designed coaster types out there that CP could build. B&M's flyer and dive machine are some examples.

Oh how fun it would be to fly over the lagoon and through the trees on a B&M flyer.

Yeah I think Cedar Point has finally ran out of room for a new coaster. That's just my opinion. I think if we did get a new coaster, I think it would be one to replace one. Like Mean Streak is always dead when you wait in line for it. Who knows Cedar Point might have plans to take out Mean Streak and just build a new one that might be better. I personally think they might still take out White water landing and bring us a B&M Floorless or the B&M flier. These Ideas I came up with are just guesses but they are good ones.
As much as people rip on Mean Streak, it still increases the overall capacity of the park. On really busy days it still gets a decent wait so its not like no one will ride it.
I hope we get some kind of indication of the addition of a coaster this season. They aren't out of room, there are plenty of places where they could build a coaster.

And out of those 4, One is closed on Wednesdays, the other is hardly ever working, one of them shuffles and bangs riders around like no other B&M does, and the last one is plain unfun.
Give me MF, Dragster and WT over those 4 any day.
I'm thinking that the "X closed on Wednesday" thing may be over. I was there on Wed. 4/27 and rode X about 5 times with about a 5 minute wait each time. I love it when a park's open and the kids are in school.
Personally, I was thrilled when maXair was announced and think it's a much better installation for the park at this time. I'm thinking a funnel slide for Soak City would be next.
I'm certainly not against a new coaster, especially if the new coaster is a B&M flyer or floorless, but I think the giant Huss rides with high capacity are great additions to a park that is known for capacity.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I wouldn't be that thrilled with a B&M floorless, they feel about the same as the inverteds to me, and Raptor is a great ride so a floorless would not add that much. A flyer would be fine, but I think I would want something a little different. A water coaster in Frontier Town would be interesting.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I wouldn't be thrilled if the park added another B&M for the same reason. If the park were to add a dark ride though, I'd be dancing around for days after the announcement was made. :)

You really think Cedar Point would tear down a roller coaster? I think not. I would guess they want to hold on to that world record for most roller coasters for a long time to come, and 17 would give them the undisputed record, unlike the tie for 16 they have now. I know there is still some arguement about the SBNO Superman @ SFMM, but lets not start that arguement, Guniess still says its a tie.
As I said before, I would personally like to see something more like a new, well themed dark ride, but I would not complain about a new coaster either. I just worry about capacity with some of these new rides, especially like a B&M Flyer. These things take forever to load and dispatch, so unless they do a split station with two trains loading simultaniously like what X-Flight has, I think it would have a very poor capacity.
Shawn Meyer the Mean Streak still gets really long lines in the middle of the summer and on halloweekends. When I was there a few years back during Halloweekends on a busy Saturday the wait was two hours! And it was longer than two roller coasters younger than it. The Raptor and Wicked Twister had less of a wait. So Mean Streak still does its bussiness.

Hate to break it to you, but Superman is standing and it is operating. When I compared new coasters between the 2 parks, I was referring to the fact that one of you said I was spoiled by how many new rides CP gets, and I was stating I'm not. The only ride closed when I was at SFMM was Deja Vu in Its yearly rehab, you know since the park is open year round. As for X, it's open everyday now. I would be mad if any coaster was removed. Plus, in the news article the GM specifically said they weren't going to shy away from coasters. Mean Streak won't be ripped down, it's a 90's coaster. As for the whole water ride thing, I go to a park to ride coasters, I go to water parks and soak city to get wet. I don't like walking around the park wet.

I think you're more worried about losing the record than CP ever will be. It's something to market on and that's it.

I'm content with what they have. I've only ridden Dragster once, haven't ridden maXair yet, haven't ridden Blue Streak so I have some catching up to do. If they don't add anything next year I will be content with what they have. A B&M flyer doesn't sound at all appealing to me. I love the park how it is.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
