MF Island - Construction?

MF was great, but WT and TTD aren't really what I consider true coasters. Sure they've got speed and height, but that's about all they have.

I'm surprised I'm the only one responding to that comment. I would type my response but since everyone knows what it will be about I won't bother. :)

The employees I was talking to would have said something. Not CP.

I would be happy if they changed the Mantis to a floorless coaster.

What makes you think these employees you were talking to would even know something?

Richie A.

Cause the Lemon Chill Guy knows all.

I doubt a new coaster will be on MF Island. If there is, great! I'm not going to complain. But I know what I saw and it looks like landscaping.

I agree that the dirt on the island doesn't look like much of anything. I've seen plenty of dirt piles around that park. Not all of them yielded a new ride.

I'll be at CP tomorrow, I'll make sure to ask the lemon chill guy what's going on. *** Edited 5/22/2005 3:49:07 PM UTC by Emohnke***

Tomorrow is my first trip to Cedar Point of the year and I will be sure to take a look at these dirt hills. I'll be wearing a bright orange adidas tshirt, give a hollar if you see me.

[sarcasm]I'm sure they know something.Even if they did, I'm sure they would tell you with absolutely no regard for their jobs, psh, of course they would tell you in return for getting fired, why wouldn't they? [/sarcasm]

Regardless of whether an employee knew or not, your not going to know, because they sure as hell would never tell you. Even Jeff never tells us, and he doesn't even work there.

Actually it's the Watchdog from Paddlewheel Excursions. He's digging holes around Millennium Island trying to find the perfect spot to bury a bone! ;)

I cropped part of the 100 meg ariel view of Cedar Point (props to the person who first posted it, sorry that I forget your name) to contain White Water Landing, Antique Cars, Mean Streak, and some of the surrounding area. You can also see the WWL's caves since the pictures were taken before they fell down.

If you click the "View Full Size" you can zoom in pretty close to the photo.

The area that White Water Landing occupies is comparable in size to Mean Streak's footprint, so that gives you an idea of how large of a ride/rides they could put in there. Last year there were rumors that Antique Cars could also be on the chopping block and that takes up a lot of room too.

Matt, painting the boats could be preparing them for sale to another company's park or transition to one of Cedar Fair's other parks.

Keep in mind this is all just speculation and wishful thinking.

If you want to see the caves, or where they were, the model in town hall is a great example... check it out.

They had a little waterfall that trickled down, that was the thiong that got you the most wet.

Also if you ride the ride, you can see the foundations, or what i believe is what they are.

TTD: 7 (Rollbacks seen: 32)
MF: 22
WT: 10

Looking at that shot you'd think they'd be able to fit a coaster and a smaller rerouted white water landing.

Plenty O space back there.

Why does everyone want a new coaster always? And most of all take out one of CP's great water rides. So what about the caves, the ride still is a classic.

Personally I don't like the idea of messing with FrontierTown. CP knows how to build new rides, but with them they always tranform the whole area into something new. I love new things, but some of the old should stay sometimes. What I'm saying is, if CP builds in FrontierTown, we're at risk of loosing a part of the park that makes Cedar Point so special.

New coaster or not, I'll be happy next season because there is so much at the park I have not yet experienced. And with that I am going to bed cause I leave for Cedar Point in 6 hours :) !

I would hate to see the ambiance of Frontier Town change. When people say they are removing the Antique Cars it makes me cringe. That is the perfect ride for that part of the park, and the area with all the tall trees is beautiful.

I like White Water Landing, the park wouldn't be complete without a family flume ride. If they take it out to install a new and better flume, while preserving the Frontier Town environment, I would be OK with that. But I wouldn't want to see it go for another coaster.

I would love to see the park get a modern high-tech dark ride, or something along the line of BGW's new ride

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I totally agree. Frontier Town is one of the nicest areas of the park and it needs to have a flume ride and probably a car ride too. There is plenty of room on that island for something. Build it there and put the entrance only in Frontier Town or Frontier Trail.

And if something needs to be torn down, make it Mean Streak. Its ridership has been on the decline for several years. Mine Ride gets as many riders as Mean Streak if you can believe that.

The problem with BGW's new ride is that it has horrible capacity. I've heard some pretty bad reviews too. But I think the concept is sweet! Those things aren't cheap though.

Snake River Falls was originally supposed to be a "mountain" but budget cuts put the kabosh on that. If WWL were replaced I'd like to see a "mountain" type of flume ride go in it's place...which would certainly add to the look of the area.

I must be blind, as I'm the only one that's been to the park twice, looked on "Millennium Island" and not seen the spoken of "dirt piles". Would someone like to post a picture of this "construction" for those of us with eyes to see?

I don't think you guys are giving Cp enough credit. I think they understand that the look and feel of Frontier Town is important and keep it as much the same as possible. Remember, they aren't robots, they know what people like and what looks good. I'm not worried.

They also realize that the Frontier Trail/Town part of the park is quickly becoming the new Disaster Transport area of the park. The area does have a tranquility to it, but I think if they did it right a coaster would be able to work just fine there. If they filled the box spine with pea-gravel then the only thing added in terms of sound would be the riders' screams, and it's not like you don't get that on CCMR or Snake River Falls.

Think about this...if Cedar Point doesn't install a new coaster next year, it will be the first time they have gone more than 3 years without installing a coaster since before they put in Avalanche Run. Just some food for thought.
