From what I hear GCI woodies are getting better and better as the company grows, and I would love to see CP get a good smooth, and long wooden twister like Thunderhead in Dollywood.
I will be visiting Dollywood in July to ride Thunderhead and I will see if it is what CP needs.
It would fit perfectly in the area of the Cars and Wave swinger. They could move the wave swinger back closer to Mean Streak and move the Cars to Millenium Isand(I know it would be a tight fit).
This would spare your precious WWL and still liven up the Frontier Area of the park.
GIT-R-DONE
Except a big wooden coaster would ruin the beauty and atmosphere of that part of the park. Leave the town square of Frontier Town a town square, and build the next coaster somewhere else.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Pete, the same could be (and was) said about the area of the park that Dragster changed with its installation. The other day for I got a vivid image of what that area of the park used to look like (it was weird and unexpected but it happened) and I it made me sad about how much of a concrete jungle it is now as opposed to the actual jungle it used to be.

I was there today and saw these 'dirt piles' and they looked like nothing major at all. I also rode Mean Streak today and I have to say: all you people who complain about its roughness are whiners. It wasn't rough at all, hell, Gemini was about 30 times rougher. We rode Mean Streak 2 times in a row because we had so much fun, and, Mean Streak Photo was open *I was so happy*. Gemini hurt all of us so much we couldn't ride it again. Mean Streak is an awesome part of the park and I would hate to see it disappear because it adds to the atmosphere and is so much fun.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
It could be... gasp!... displaced soil from the maXair site.

That's the boring answer!
I think that they should keep frontier town and town square the same. Its an awsome retreat from the hussle and bussle of the park. I think that it would be alright to get rid of the petting zoo though. I think that it would be a great idea to build a new wooden roller coaster though, the tallest and fastest, nice and long. Woodies are my favorite. I think that a wooden roller coaster would fit in great with the landscape of frontier town.
Oh ya, why would it be displased dirt from maXair? They didnt have to take out that much dirt for maXair.
Were you operating the construction equipment? Did you ever walk the construction site?
That's what I thought.

I like White Water Landing, the park wouldn't be complete without a family flume ride. If they take it out to install a new and better flume, while preserving the Frontier Town environment, I would be OK with that. But I wouldn't want to see it go for another coaster.
I agree. If WWL has the same fate as the late Shoot-the-Rapids, only to be replaced by a new flume ride, it wouldn't be a bad idea. However, I think WWL just needs some TLC. Possibly add new theming, and maybe including the Peanuts crew. Rename the flume to something like Snoopy's White Water Adventure. There's already 16 coasters in the park to ride.

I do have to ask though, once again... what dirt piles are you guys talking about? I've been twice since these mysterious piles turned up, and haven't seen them either time.

they are right behind the lemon chill guys booth.

I have to side with the 'Save the WWL guys.' This past Saturday, my son and I closed the park with a ride on Paddle Wheel, Antique Cars, then three rides on White Water Landing(the ride op finally said "This is the last one, guys.") I just think WWL is a great relaxing family ride and has a great view of the bay.
I'd hate to see it go...

Dirt piles ehh? Sounds exciting. I came back from my long away period for this. ;)
Anyway, I'd like to see some pics of these dirt piles.

Wow, I have dirt piles on the side of my house. It must be for a coaster. I live right next door to the lemon chill guy, and he told me that they are for a new coaster.
Seriusly though, its funny how some people can get so excited about a few piles of dirt.
As far as wwl goes, they just did some repainting and other repairs on it last year, so I dont think its going anywhere soon(at least I hope not).
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I recently visited the park, saw these mentioned piles, and did not bother to think twice about them. I got a chuckle at what a big deal this has been blown into. I saw some dirt that has been collected and put into piles around a certain part of MF, and that's where the excitement ends. It was land that has been moved, nothing special. Not enough like it's been dug out to form a pattern, just one space thats been lifted like it's straight out of RCT. =P
Yeah I think just retheming White Water landing would be cool, maybe add special affects like they did for the Mine ride down at Kings Island. I think that would bring more people on that ride. I could come up with a lot of ideas to make it a good theme.
Now if it was me, why not start rumors of Cedar Creek Mine Ride. That ride has the lowest attendance than any ride in the park. Well From my perspective anyway. Heres my suggestion, why not put a floorless in it's place, it would bring so many people to that side of the park.
As a parent I do not want to see the "family" coasters taken out. Mine Ride is a good ride for kids. Most kids are not going to have MF or Dragster be their first coaster experiences.
Heck, by the time my kid is old enough to ride coasters I may not be inclined to ride MF with him but I will always be able to ride Mine Ride.
Now, I agree with others that WWL is due for some major work or replacement. How about a replacement for the ride along with the addition of a water spray coaster? It is the "wet" area of the park so I say just enhance that experience.

I also agree the coaster wars aren't over. Consider this: CP has built 3 new coasters since 2000, and 2 of those were major world record breakers. Rides like MaxAir and Power Tower are nice additions to the park, but they don't pack the people in like the coasters do (look how small MaxAir's que line is). Coasters = revenue. I'm sure everyone thought TTD's records would be safe for longer than they were, so there wasn't any pressure to rush into another coaster. They used one year for the Castaway Bay renovation (had to find a way to generate some off-season revenue from that pig) and then this year to bolster their record for most rides at an amusement park with the addition of MaxAir.
Rumor central around the park has Mr. Kinzel wanting one last hurrah before he retires. That means one more coaster to get them past Magic Mountain's 16. Everyone at Cedar Fair/Cedar Point are still sore about Intamin whoring out the TTD clone to Six Flags. Double so as the purchase of Geauga Lake from Six Flags probably helped fund KK. But is there room in the park for another world record breaker? Where do you put it? What style coaster should it be? Interesting questions to be sure. My gut feeling is the point of origin for this ride could very well be Frontier Town. So what comes out of FT? Snake River Falls? Possibly - relatively simple ride design - could be relocated in the park (hey, they did it with the Big Wheel). Would take more than just moving SRF though. Thunder Canyon? Not likely. Popular ride, not easily moved, integrated into Halloweekends with Werewolf Canyon. CCMR? Heck no it is one of the 16 coasters. Also, not something you can really relocate either. The old FT Sky Ride station? Possibly. Only used for storage and rest rooms. Antique cars? Easily relocated. Takes up a good amount of space where it is. Wave Swinger? Easily relocated. White Water Landing? Aaaahhh! This is the most intriguing thought. Takes up a HUGE amount of space. Probably too big to relocate so might have to be eliminated. But would this be a good idea? CP only has 3 water rides total. And this is probably the most family friendly of the three. Do you replace it with another water ride so as to free up space for a new giga-coaster? Remove White Water Landing, relocate Wave Swinger and Snake River Falls (and possibly Antique Cars) and badaboom - access to the MF island. Might not even need to take WWL out. Just move the Wave Swinger and the old carosel building (used for a haunted house now) and relocate SRF and there could be room for... well... something. Of course this is all conjecture at this point, but gives you some food for thought! As more development and changes happen at the Point we can hopefully start filling in the blanks. My money is on something happening in Frontier Town! And double or nothing it will be a coaster. The Lurker hath spoken. :)
