mean streak

Well since people are complaining about the Mean Streak I want to see your top 5 woodies in Ohio. I haven't ridden alot of woodies so I wouldn't know.

1.Beast

2.Blue Streak

3.Mean Streak

4.Racer

5. N/A

So you've limited the list of top woodies to one state with 2 big amusement parks, one struggling one and a handful of family fun parks?

There are only 11 wood coasters to begin with in Ohio.

Ohio is not the best place to be looking for a large number of great wood coasters. In fact, you would be hard pressed to look at any one state to put together a good list of any type of coasters. The search is way too narrow.

PA has a lot of really nice woodies. :)

I've only been on one "good" woodie in Ohio and it now sucks. That being Villain.

Doesn't TTD count as woodie. ;)

^I seriously laughed out loud at that! Thank you! :)

It is possible to be boring and rough at the same time. Half the time you are just crawling along, waiting for something to happen, and the other half you're hoping nothing else happen.
I have to say, I still love the part of the ride where you're in a tunnel of supports and heading back to the station. That short part of the ride is what makes it worth it for me. :)

Summer was made for a Cedar Point day~

I don't mind Mean Streak at all. I would be sad if it went, because I love entering Frontiertown and seeing it.

I love entering Frontiertown and seeing it to. It's when I ride it when the depression starts.

I actually really like Mean Streak. If you ride in the front seat when the trims aren't being used, it really is a fun ride. Though the last few times I've gone, the trims have been on. Do they every turn them off any more?

Don't post much, but had to throw my two cents in:

Mean Streak is a wooden coaster, as we all know. Good wooden coasters give you two feelings 1.) that you're completely out of control of your ride experience and 2.) that you think the ride structure is about to fall apart. I think it hits both of those. Grant it it's not the tallest, or fastest, or best but it's in my opinion, and that of quite a few, still a fairly good coaster.

It's no Beast or El Toro, but it's still something that CP is lacking, wooden coasters, 2 true wooden coasters compared to the 15 steel (i count Gemini and Mine ride as Steel). The Beast has its days where it's as rough as MS, sometimes worse, but it's a great coaster even on its bad days. CP will never get rid of MS, they take pride in their coasters, and regardless probably would never get rid of it. Grant it it doesn't get the ridership that the steel coasters do, but people still ride it, based upon the 2006 rider numbers, it gets more people riding it than Blue Streak, Mine Ride, and Wildcat.

Grant it i'm a coaster nut like everyone else here, but Wooden Coasters are too few and far between. I prefer them at times over steel any day.

If that thing doesn't have a line and a train is in the way, than I will get on it over and over again.

Its very strange to me to see the decline of this ride so rapidly, I remember hour long lines in 1997 and it dwindles down to the long stretch under the coaster to a walk to the steps into the station.

Sometimes I look at it and don't bother to look at it again. There is so much wood and space. I have mix feelings about it.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

One of the main problems with Mean Streak IMO is accessibility. The location of Maverick has really helped it out this year, but MS is really back by itself. In order to get there you have to walk through a whole walkway of shops and then cross the train tracks (which can take a while) and then you can finally get to the entrance. It's an area all by itself, and it's not the premier ride that would deserve its own area.

I had a good experience on it yesterday. My back was bothering me, so I specifically went on it to get some relief. I've had more than one ride on MS that was like a three minute chiropractor appointment: short, efficient, and hey, you get to ride a roller coaster in the process. What's not to like about that?

Anyway, my back was 70% better after riding. And for the first time, I took the advice previously offered on PB to hold one's back away from the backrest to avoid the worst of the beating. It actually made a difference, though I won't say it's the most natural position to ride a coaster.

I still like MS, and think CP should hold on to this ride until it's old enough that it would be unthinkable to remove it.

WOW! I thought that I was alone on this, though Maggie is my usual chiro. My lower back issues get better as I ride. MS is one of my favorites, though I do recommend Son of Beast at KI in the front seat, very cool! Villain at GL needs some help, what a nice ride layout with a ride that I feared for my well being during my last ride this year. It wasn't just rough, it was to the point of unsafe, even for rough woody coaster lovers like myself.

My friends and I rode Mean Streak twice on Saturday. We did this mainly because it was one of the only rides open during the light drizzle. But, by sitting forward, back straight and holding on, it was actually sorta fun. The crew was really cool as well, so that made us want to go back. :)

I don't think Maverick is helping, but I guess we will have to see the 2007 ridership to prove that.

I don't get why everybody seems to hate the mean streak, I think it rocks, while no wooden coaster is among my favorites at the point when it doesn't give me a headache I love it, it's nearly 3 minutes long it's rough and it's on the coast, but I'm glad the lines are short.

My son has always liked Mean Streak. I really like good wooden coasters. The first 1/2 of Mean Streak is pretty good (its a lot better with no trim brakes on the first hill -- I have had one such ride in my life). But the second half of the ride is really too slow to be very interesting to me. I have never had any problems with Mean Streak being to rough or painful to ride.

Uh yeah it is. Mean Streak had an hour wait the other day.

^^ If you like good wooden roller coasters ride The Voyage or any GCI, not an old and slow monstrosity.
