mean streak

I don't know how others feel about this ride, but I strongly believe that this ride is a gigantic waste of space. I realize that this topic has probably been posted more than once but I was just wondering what others thought about this ride. I think cedar point should remove this ride completely and open up more space because the ride is a waste in my pov. I think that if they really want to build a really good wodden coaster they should should model one around the voyage at holiday world. I don't know how many people have been on it but I believe that it is the best wodden rollercoaster by far. If they put this coaster in, I think that cedar point would be complete. I just wanted to get an idea of everyone elses thoughts also.

Mean Streak is fine in my opinion. You are not alone, there are many people who find it uncomfortable as well, but there are plenty of people who do ride it and have no problem with it. I actually like it. It is long, doesn't have huge waits, and can be quite fun. I rode it one night with the trims off and no one else in the train and it was great. A little refurb with this ride could make it much better, but I don't think it needs to be demolished... There are far worse coasters out there in terms of roughness. Trust me.

Bottom line: wooden coasters aren't for everyone. If it is too rough for you, don't ride it.

Thrills Around the Corner!

It might be an ok ride but the voyage at holiday world is a great ride. It is what a real wooden coaster should be. If cedar point could put a ride like the voyage in in place of the mean streak they would be much better off. I've never heard anyone get off the mean streak and say that was great I want to ride this one again it's always a one-timer

There are a surprising number of people who ride MS rather frequently. I've seen large numbers of kids reride MS over and over at night.

It's not so bad in the very front seat.

Some people merely follow their dreams. Others hunt them down and mercilessly beat them into submission.

I agree, the ride takes up too much space and doesn't have the fun "re-ridability" of the Gemini, Magnum or MF. If lines are any indication, it's also not very popular and is one of the easiest walk on rides in the park.

Unfortunately this ride suffered from fatigue as it was not enigineered to withstand the test of time. Maverick had the same oversight with the heartline roll. The 2nd hill of mean streak has been re-profiled and the trims have been added on the first drop to slow the ride down. It is still a great ride, but not nearly the same as it was when it was new.

I love mean streak. It's really smooth in the front seat and very fun.

well than what makes a wooden rollercoaster a real wooden coaster. because the last time i checked it has to be made of wood, be bulky, and make you feel youre going out of control. personnaly i love the mean streak no lines and ridding in the very back and getting the crap beaten out of you is great.

I had a good experience on it yesterday. My back was bothering me, so I specifically went on it to get some relief. I've had more than one ride on MS that was like a three minute chiropractor appointment: short, efficient, and hey, you get to ride a roller coaster in the process. What's not to like about that?

Anyway, my back was 70% better after riding. And for the first time, I took the advice previously offered on PB to hold one's back away from the backrest to avoid the worst of the beating. It actually made a difference, though I won't say it's the most natural position to ride a coaster.

I still like MS, and think CP should hold on to this ride until it's old enough that it would be unthinkable to remove it.

I'm guessing no one on this forum has ever been on the voyage because if they have they would be agreeing with me. The voyage is by far the roughest wodden rollercoaster hands down. Mean streak is a sleeper compared to it it's not that mean streak is too rough for me its that its not rough enough its way too boring for my likings

I used to like Mean Streak, but was shocked when I first rode it this year and there were trims on the FIRST HILL! On that ride we crept slowly around the next hill, and it felt much slower than I remembered. I've ridden it twice since then and now I don't really have any desire to ride it further. It's slow and long and, sadly, boring now.

If you want rough, go ride Villain over at Geauga Lake. I've ridden that exactly once. Well, I've only been to the park once (two weeks ago), but Mean Streak feels like Millennium Force after riding Villain.

^The trims have been there for many years. Mean Streak is fine, I've been on lots of wooden (and some steel) coasters that were far more painful.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

^ Not many years. Maybe a couple. I don't know exactly when, but I'm about 90% sure that they were not there the first time I rode it in 2001. Then again, it was such a painful experience that I might have just overlooked their presence.

Mean Streak might not be as smooth or as good of a ride as The Voyage is (don't know from personal experience), but it's definitely not worthy of removal just yet. I've had great rides and terrible rides on it before. Mean Streak is nearly 20 years old. It's not really fair to judge it against the Voyage, which has yet to be tested by any time at all.

Judging by ridership and the amount of land it takes up, I'd assume that it would be one of the first of the park's current lineup to go down, but I highly doubt that would be any time soon.

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

As far as wooden coasters go mean streak is pretty fast if you dont believe me look http://rcdb.com/rhr.htm?statistic=0&type=2

Being fast is not as important as the perception of being slow. Sorry, but Mean Streak rates about as fun as Disaster Transport. It's better looking, but looks is all it has going for it.

yea there going to put in a 500 footer and im gonna be the king of scotland. the theme park goal now has shifted in case you couldnt notice the money is in familys and building thrill rides does draw familys to the park. if they put a coaster in there it wouldnt be super tall or fast it would be entertaining for the familys

A lot of you are going to call me crazy but when I rode Maverick on Saturday, I actually found it smooth and very comfortable. Maybe it depends on where you ride in part of the train. We had the Red Train and we sat somewhere in the middle and man it seemed smooth. I think Mean Streak should stay for all of you that don't like Mean Streak.

See I agree. I can have some great rides on Mean Streak.

Are there better wooden coasters out there? Sure. But CP can't tear down a ride every time something better is invented or built. *** Edited 6/14/2007 1:22:47 AM UTC by Top Thrill 182***

^^ I don't think you're crazy. :) I enjoyed MS the last few times I rode it this year. *** Edited 6/14/2007 1:26:30 AM UTC by Jamie the Crazy***
