First of all you can't complain about the roughness because it is a wooden rollercoaster. From what I have heard there is a lot worse than the MS too. Also some people have been talking about great woodies and the beast was maybe once mentioned. ...

All the woodies at Hershey are wicked smooth. El Toro is smooth like warm butter. I've heard (not ridden) that Holiday World's wooden coasters are all smooth too.
Wooden coasters aren't supposed to be rough. They are because of poor maintenance.

The Beast used to be fairly smooth back in the 80s,but the last time I rode it last year,it was pretty rough.
I wish I could have been on it when it was new. when I was like about 3 years old, it was new. And when I was old enough to ride big coasters, I was too scared.
I am a huge coaster fanatic now. I started riding them when I was 12 and 13. I see now a days kids in line for DRAGSTER and they look to be 6 years old. I sometimes wonder myself why I was such a wimp.
I think that Beast can be rough, but it's kind of luck of the draw. I've been on it maybe a dozen times in the last two years, and I can think of two rides that I'd actually call rough (one in the front of a train, the other in the back). The intensity is relentless though.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
It still the best Woodie,IMO(the Beast, that is)

I personally Love Mean Streak.. it has that old rickity feel of a real wooden coaster should be like! Of course its gonna be a rough ride.. its not steel and highly technologically advanced... its wood!
Well, I think a wooden coaster can remain "rickety" without turning painful. RWB or Big Dipper at GL are good examples. They have the cool wooden feeling but aren't MS or Villian rough. I still think MS is capable of giving good rides though...
Thrills Around the Corner!
Ok, IMO the riders who claims to love Means Streak are just plan crazy and/or have no perception of what a good wooden roller coaster is. Kids, you need to get out of the Buckeye State and experience some other coasters ok?
I can't remember the last time I actually seen a line for Mean Streak so face the facts kids, people just are riding it anymore and I don't blame them one bit. Why would a person ride mean streak when there are other rides at Cedar Point that won't give you a head or back ache. MS just doesn't have the elements that make an exciting coaster.
I've said it many times and I'm going to say it again, this ride is a waste of space and just needs to go! Go Mean Streak go! Please just go!! *** Edited 7/6/2007 7:36:12 PM UTC by delphi94***
I had the pleasure of riding The Beast five times and Son of Beast once yesterday. Both of those rides put Mean Streak to terrible shame. Riding The Beast in the front seat is fantastic, especially going into the tunnel after the second lift hill. It really has that "runaway train" feel to it at times, and in the front seat of a car it's not too rough. Sat in the back seat (third row) of the front train once and it was a completely different experience--I think my internal organs were all rearranged after that ride!
Son of Beast--the first half of the ride is great! Crazy speed, corners and hills. The second half is a much more casual pace that reminded me more of Mean Streak. Would have ridden this again, but the lines were quite long after I managed to be about the 20th person in line when the ride finally opened at 2pm yesterday, and I wanted to ride everything in the park at least once.
Racer going backwards is also quite fun. Pretty intense if you're in the very back row (uhhrr, front? <grin>)
I agree with the sentiment about having a huge "Mean Streak" bon fire and building a better wood coaster in that space. Especially after having ridden Beast and Son of Beast.

My opinion about MS is that the layout is very cool and the whole structure is very impressive and definetly worth saving. I have always thought that it would be cool to retrofit the structure with steel tracks like Gemini. THAT would make it lots of fun!!
Jeff said, "Someone got it all right. Nice." C-Bob says, "Someone is ME."
The ridership speaks for itself.
It's time to turn the page on that piece of land and say goodbye.
Promoter of fog.
When I was there MS actually had a 1/2 hour wait. I am guessing that it was because people already walked back to ride Maverick, saw a 2 hour wait, and figured that they might as well ride MS while they were there. That is the only reason I rode it that day.
There is so much land where MS is, its a horrible ride ( IMO)
I think they should tear it down and build in that area..they could probably fit two coasters in there and maybe along with a ride.
So CP should tear it down its not worth taking that space up when it makes ur whole body ache.
IMH!
Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27
Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini
Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-
Tare it down and give Ohio some good wood!
Going going going up the lift hill.... going down....ahhhhh.... brake.... brake....ahhhh..... brake.....umm. Even with it being trimmed to death, the ride still sucks, and is as rough as heck.
Maybe replace it with a... oh I don't know... a wooden air time machine? I think that'll work out just fine.
2012 - Magnum XL 200 Crew
You actually could probably build a smaller coaster or some flats inside of MS. There is a ton of room in there if you get rid of the queues that aren't used.
When I rode front row, it wasnt rough. It was just boring. There was no airtime because the trims kill everything.
I say remove it, keep with the Intamin addiction, and add a pre-fab similar to El Toro. That would make my day.
Plain and simple amswer.
Mean Streak sucks.
Tear it down and put up a GCI or GG coaster.
As to the Voyage being way rougher than MS, that may be true, but they have padding that is actually soft so you don't get off after your ride looking for the nearest chiropractor.
Mean Streak is the worst of both worlds - rough and boring. :)
