I thought LR was phenomenal. It's still in my top five woodies.

For some reason, when I rode Lightning Racer, I did not enjoy any part of the ride. Am I the only one?
No you aren't the only one. That was probably the biggest let-down coaster I've experienced. Fun? Sure - but not worthy of all the praise it seems to get. I got off it scratching my head as to why everyone loved it so much.
Now I've always been a Mean Streak supporter. But after my ride last Sunday, I do have to admit the ride has gotten somewhat boring... well very boring. The problem is it just goes way too slow now due to the trims and MCBR. I still don't think the ride needs to be removed, it just needs some serious work. I've ridden the ride at night with all the trims off along with the MCBR and have to say it can be a fun ride! It just needs some re-tracking and some way to get rid of all those nasty brakes.
Then again however, Mean Streak does occupy quite a large chunk of space, and I'd be very interested to see what CP could come up with for that area if Mean Streak weren't there. So considering that, I'd be pretty open for Mean Streak leaving if it meant something else better coming along.
Thrills Around the Corner!
We've been talking since this website has been in existence how CP needs to do something to MS to make it better...and they have not done a thing it make it better. This ride just keeps getting slower. It's a beautiful structure, but to me it's beyond hope and gets in the way of major expansion. Oh, if you think CP would never tear it down in favor of new development, just think of what was torn down to make way for Maverick. Most people loved WWL.
Actually, WWL was terrible those last few seasons. It had been allowed to deteriorate to the point that it was a shell of its former self.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the ride, but the signs of neglect were obvious.

I dont know if WWL was terrible...just showing its age and lack of interest by people. It was time for something new to be put in that area. If most people loved it...I dont think they were riding it in huge numbers. Mean Streak is not a good coaster at all. That is usually the one coaster I pass by every visit. To me, it doesnt have many elements of a great coaster.
I always enjoyed WWL, right up to the last day. Log flumes are so much nicer when you can float idly through the trees. I have to admit I'm a sucker for them.

Lightning Racer is sweet. Ask anyone who was at Chocolate Buzz last year. Crazy, crazy night rides, and we had so few people at the event that you could get solo laps even.

I think I would prefer an Intamin woodie with its smooth, prefabricated track over a GCI woodie.

I just think the maintenance on WWL the last few seasons was poor...but of course they knew it was coming out. I thought it was a superior log flume ride, and a new tunnel and refurbishments would have kept it that way. I was very surprised they took it out. On a hot day, the lines were still decent. If the length of the line is the only criteria, then Mean Streak should be a goner. This coaster has been a walk-on the last few times I've been on it. I still here that people wait in line for an hour or so...poor souls if that is the case, but I don't buy it.
At around 900,000 rides per year, MS still gives more rides than Wildcat and Mine Ride, and about as many as Blue Streak and Disaster Transport.
^^ - in the summer when the park is packed (like tomorrow) MS will have a pretty decent wait. Its just a matter of numbers, you put 36,000 people in the park, ALL the rides will have lines.

Good thing it isn't because I've had walk-ons to several rides throughout the park. WT and Magnum are two that come to mind. Like others have said, it all depends on how many people are in the park. If you go on a busy day, every ride will have a line, and on a light day, you will get walk-ons.

I have not been on the Mean Streak mainly because I keep hearing how rough the ride is. I don't want to spend my day in pain. Any suggestions on a way to ride the Streak or a good spot to be in the car that I can try this ride? My son really wants me to try it, but I don't want to have great pain!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
^ The ride is more comfortable in the front seat. Sometimes it can make the ride a lot smoother, and sometimes it barely helps at all. One other thing, don't try to lean back. Try to prevent your head and back from resting on the seat back and headrest. When you lean forward, your body becomes less dependent on the train. Therefore, the ride can't knock you around as much if you're not resting on it. Only lean back when you are traveling up the chain lift or when it's in the brake run.

Last Monday, (June 2) right after getting off Mean Streak about 3 pm, I ran into Dick Kinzel (Richard L. Kinzel has served as chairman of the Board since 2003 and aspresident and chief executive officer of Cedar Fair L.P. and GeneralPartner since 1986.) and another man right at the railroad crossing there at the Mean Streak entrance. They were obviously very involved in a some form of a site evaluation as they talked, pointed, jotted down notes and walked around the area right around Mean Streak. As I said, the other man had a tablet and was taking down notes on their discussions there. I walked up to Mr. Kinzel and he was very gracious and immediately introduced his friend as Rob Decker, "the man who designed and put this whole thing together." (Mr. Decker has served as Corporate Vice President of Planning &Design of Cedar Fair L.P. and General Partner. since the end of 2002.Prior to that, he served as Corporate Director of Planning and Designsince 1999.) Again, it was obvious they were in the information gathering stage in their planning for this location so I asked Mr. Kinzel what secrets he had to share. He only stated that if he told, they would not be secrets but that they "are always looking to stay ahead of the curve on their planning and projects." Mr Kinzel has stated in other interviews that they are always planning at least three years out for it takes that long to get a ride built and installed. My bet is that if it takes three years to get a new ride decided on, ordered, built and installed, that Mean Streak will soon be history!
Always looking to stay ahead of the curve?? but yet they still deny that they planned on closing Geauga Lake?? OK, oh and they managed to give a TWO MONTH notice on the closing of one single ride-The Star Trek Experience but couldn't let anyone know GL was closing?
^^^ Like others have mentioned, riding in the very front is the way to go. In fact, I have never had a ride in the front that was painful whatsoever. I think it's actually rather smooth in the front and although the airtime lacks, it's a pretty fun ride if you're not looking for something too extreme. But one time after I rode in the very front I hopped in the very back of the same train, and that hurt like hell. So yeah, definitely go in the front and you'll be okay. :)

Uh, what does business planning for the future of a sucessful park have to do with the closing of other parks and rides? Its sounds like the 'stay ahead of the curve' remark was specific to planning and development of Cedar Point, not a corporate wide policy of sharing information with the public.
Cedar Point is owned by Cedar Fair and I would think that Dick wouldn't be talking about planning ahead and staying ahead of the curve unless it's a corp. vision--he's not the head of Cedar Fair, he's in charge of CP. and the corp vison was to share with the public that Star trek is closing but not GL?? WTH??
