^Is Erie PA too far of a drive for you? Ravine Flyer 2 at Waldameer is close fantastic wood coaster.
Far enough to be an actual get a hotel type of trip in order to spend a whole day, Pittsburgh is kind of the same. I think we'll eventually get to Kennywood some time, my husband's family in WV usually would go there when he was a kid when he visited in summers. It's the same thing drive wise though, if we spent a whole day we would need a hotel before going home so it's not like CP where we can just decide "hey, let's go" and it be no big deal. CP is an hour ride for me, Geauga Lake was an hour ride. Pennsylvania is more like 2and a half or 3.
Paisley, when I was a kid growing up in Central Ohio we'd drive 2 1/4 - 2 3/4 hours to Cedar Point every year (including stopping at a drive-through) and get there at opening and stay until close. You can do it if you get going early enough. That's our problem with early entry, just can't get the heck out the door and we're either just over 1 hour away from home or half hour when we're at Marblehead.
We'd probably drive it to and from to places like Kennywood and Waldameer. Knoebels would definitely constitute a hotel stay. Bed bugs always make me nervous about hotels lately, though.

The ONLY reason Mean Squeak has so many riders is because its the riders who have never ridden the ride before. Its NOT a long list of fans (except for Mean Streak Henry) who ride it multiple times. To a non-knower the ride LOOKS amazing and people ARE screaming (in pain not fun) but I doubt many of them get off the ride and think lets ride that again. If you HAVE to ride a ride in the front car and HAVE to learn how to ride it, forget it. CFs pride will keep them from letting it become the next Texas Giant - they wont copy another park's great idea. They also wont razz it because that would only leave them with 1 woodie. Its the same old argument here year after year, its old. You want to ride a GOOD woodie ride Blue Streak and hope the next time MS sets on fire they look the other way.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
^^It wouldn't so much be the getting out the door but the being too tired to drive all the way home when done.
I think it would be best to totally get rid of it and build a brand new RMC coaster similar to El Toro, except made by RMC. They could use the new track style that is technically wooden that they used on Outlaw Run so they could still count it as a wooden coaster. Then they could build a new compact GCI coaster (similar to Gold Striker) in the spot of Thunder Canyon and a new Thunder Canyon could be built on Adventure Island to incorporate with the Dinos.
Or tear down cedar dorms, good time theater and turn pike cars, keep Cadillac cars and re-route the road and there alot of room to build a gci twister or a rmc

But Cedar Fair doesn't care how many riders are fans. As long as the ride has enough riders to satisfy whatever minimums the company has in place, they'll keep it.

I love Mean Streak! It is one of my favorite rides. I think because it is away from any traffic flow the line is moderated simply by the flow of traffic to it. Causing it to never have a lenthy line. I rode it twice Saturday and both rides were very smooth. Once close to the front, once close to the back. I really like the work done to the track in the last few years. It was also nice to have a bug free ride since it had frosted a few time.
I don't hardly see long lines for alot of coasters early in the day or late at night. But I wouldn't suggest that they tear down any of the rides I walked right on to because they aren't popular. I walked onto Gatekeeper at 10pm on friday night! Pretty sure that Mean Streak gives alot of rides to other people than mean streak Henry.
You know, everyone's saying "it would leave us with only one woodie" but 90 percent of the general public have no idea that Mine Ride and Gemini don't count as wooden roller coasters.

I got five straight rides on MS on Friday night right before closing. I was the only person in the station or on the train, the entire time. Naturally, I sat in front.
Not only did they allow re-rides, but I found it strange, when the train came in the station they did not release the harnesses or re-check my seat belt and lap bar. Once I indicated I wanted to re-ride, they just released the train. There were only two trains running, so no need to wait.
By the fourth and fifth laps, they quit asking me if I was staying on. So, when I was done, I had to let them know.
Oh, all five rides were trimless! What a difference that makes! I had never experienced that before and the speed difference going into the first turn is remarkable. The whole ride experience was better.

Really? Funny, considering MS was modeled after the TG to begin with. On the best of days, Mean Streak was a family version of the Texas Giant. They looked similar. But, that was the only thing they had in common. Ride experience was night & day difference!
Trimless, Mean Streak can be a lot of fun. The biggest problem with the ride is the dull track layout. I don't think Mean Streak is rough or painful, I just don't get the roughness complaints. The little bit of roughness that it has is what the ride has going for it, without the roughness the layout would be super boring.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I 100% agree with you! Everyone that complains about a coaster being rough needs to toughen up! Who doesn't like to be thrown around a little bit?!?! Don't get me started on the people that are compaining about Gatekeeper being too rough... Really?!?! Some of these coaster geeks now a days are becoming too soft!!! In my day, I used walk in Mean Streak's queue line and exit path uphill both ways in the snow!!!
^There are 2 kinds of rough:
1, were you are thrown around like a rag-doll and
2, where it feels like it has square wheels riding on Michigan or Indiana roads.
The Old Texas Giant was #1 while Mean Streak falls into the #2 category.
I love getting my butt kicked on a good ride!
I agree! I think Trimless Mean Streak in the rain front row is the way to go! but the ride most of the time is more on the painful side opposed to the "throw you around" side.

Their ignorance won't change the fact that if they take out Mean Streak we will only have one woodie. My kids understand the concept of a hybrid coaster and would be very disapointed to be down to only one wood coaster.
Why would that matter at all? Down a woodie for a better hybrid. I think Cedar Point cares about the coaster count status as much as the woodie status. The only way they would care is If they built a family/thrill wooden coaster like Gold Rush.

Mean Streak was that way and I avoided it for years because of the massive headache from the constant assault on my brain. But you don't feel that anymore if you ride in the front car holding onto the bar with your back off the seat and feet off the floor looking sideways. That's fun! :P
By the way, Magnum is becoming a lot like #1.
