Mean Streak- Redone

I am new to this, but I wanted to put a point out! Mean Streak is one of the most unpopular rides in the park, but Cedar Point still operates it because of the record breaking status. It is extremely rough and most people complain of headaches. I think Cedar point should redo the track iron. Like the Texas Giant or the Iron Rattler at the six Flags Parks! That would make the ride more popular, possibly add inversions, an still possibly break records! It could be called the New Mean Streak, or The Iron Streak. Something to get it popular!

That is an entirely original idea that has never, ever been discussed before.

At least she is on the right side of the arguement rather than being a member of the tear it down club.

Which is about as worthwhile a distinction as who had the better act at the prison talent show.

Maybe they should just correct the problem that is the reason behind the trim break usage whatever it may be.

Breaks, brakes... two very different things.

Gravity ~ It's summer vacation, I'm out of grading mode. These things are bound to happen.

OK, once and for all...here goes...the secret to riding Mean Streak. Something I did opening year 1991, didn't do last year which caused my back to hurt, but did this year again 2x and was able to enjoy......

* 3rd row, sit your butt all the way back, lean slightly forward for the entire ride, trust me on this, do it, let me know how your ride was.

The secret to having a pain free day at the point, forget about the secrets to riding the pain machine and walk right on by.

Favorite Wood: 1. Balder (Liseberg), 2. Boulder Dash (Lake Compounce), 3. Voyage (Holiday World), 4. Phoenix (Knoebels) 5. The Beast (Kings Island)

I've actually figured out the sure-fire, 100% way to avoid pain and headaches in riding Mean Streak. It's simple. I go on something else instead. It's worked for me on my last 6 or 7 trips!

I have pretty much been practicing a boycott of the ride till something is done.

The only reason I ever ride is when I am with unsuspecting friends so that I can watch their reactions as they loose a few years off their life span riding MS.

I can ride it correctly, but the enjoyment of a coaster is taken away when you have to spend time focusing on riding the ride correctly as opposed to just taking in the full experience.

Between this summer and last summer I've been on it quite a bit. I had said never again years ago but my son was begging me. It's better than it was but now that I've read everything said about the trim brakes and paid attention while riding the few times there was minimal or no braking I would have to say were the best. If they figure out some way of dealing with whatever the problem is that doesn't involve trim brakes and slowing the train down I think it would be a better ride. I remember loving it when it was new.

Please tell me the secret to how you ride this correctly.

For me, it wasn't any bumps or jerks you'd get with any wooden coaster, it was the constant strong vibration that felt like my brain was sloshing in my skull and I couldn't brace for that.

I decided to brave Mean Streak on my recent trip this past week. I hadn't been on it since my last trip in 1997. Even then, I'd only ride in the front car, which I thought was fine. But the rear, usually my favorite hurt.

so, this time i just rode once in the front. really can't say i have any complaints about roughness, at all. but, didn't want to miss out on more MF or Dragster, so, in 2 days only rode that one time.

Mean Streak is flawed and cannot be fixed.

When does school start again?

I like the idea of doing what they did to Mean Streak what they did to the Texas Giant. I think the Mean Streak could be a good ride if it was smoother!!

Want an instant headache, ride Mean Streak. No wonder there is never ever a wait!!

I'm not sure why I'm even responding to this thread. But, while at the park this past weekend, I asked and was told that Mean Streak still sees over 1,000,000 riders each year.

You haven't figured out the cure-all. For many, including myself, there is "correct way" to ride MS to make it enjoyable. Besides, even if there were a "correct way" to ride it, why bother? The ride sucks regardless of the roughness.
