I like Mean Streak just the way it is. If anything, they should tear down half of the (imo) uneeded resorts and they would have plenty of room for more coasters.

Although that would be awesome, business wise, it would make little sense. The resorts bring in way more money than more coasters would.

Thank you Meanstreakcoasterfreak! Somebody besides me likes the Mean Streak. :)
I like it, too. I don't care for Mantis at all and haven't ridden it for years but I wouldn't say take it out because I know there are plenty of people that do. I don't see the point in standing up to ride a coaster but to each their own.
Finally got the courage to ride Mean Streak yesterday after taking the advice of riding front and leaning forward and holding on. I rode front car second seat twice and did not feel any pain whatsoever. It did seem smoother than in years past. However, the ride was nothing but trim brakes all the way, very boring, to say the least. Blue Streak is a much more fun coaster. Given the short wait, it's something to ride when all the other lines are too long. There were quite a few young children loving the ride, though, and wanting to ride it over and over just having a ball.

From someone who absolutely suffered in the past riding Mean Streak, I am surprised I didn't feel the jack-hammering vibrations that had caused me so much brain pain in the past. But there is no joy in this ride (except for the kiddies). Every time the train picked up some speed or banked a turn it was trimmed down to nothing. A big behemoth that sputtered the whole way through.
What a mess. I remember reading some long thread here about what is wrong with Mean Streak and why they had to do all those alterations/trims to it and it was very interesting but I don't know how to find it. I would say something is seriously wrong with its structure if every element needs to be trimmed like that.
I felt guilty thinking what a POS it was seeing the look on those kids faces, though, and I'd hate to take it away from them. I think their parents were enjoying their excitement, too, rather than the coaster. At least they weren't hurting, or I assume they weren't. I might try it again, lean back a little and see how it feels. But I think the reason why the kids like it so much is because it is very slow and so tame- an oversized kiddie ride.

It's been two weeks since someone posted in this thread. I just wanted to bring up something on here. Does anyone think that the Mean Streak photo booth is done for? I have not seen that open for photos all season and it makes me think they are doing away with it.
On the trim brake discussion... Mean Streak is not nearly as bad as the Beast at Kings Island. There were seriously, 4 or 5 different sets of trims on it. So I can take Mean Streaks single trim.
The photo booth is probably done. They were giving left over MeanStreak pins for free at the gift shop next to it. there wasn't a sign but if you looked at them more than once they offered them to you.
I have a question about the trims. What controls how much or how little trim you get on a particular ride. I've had more sometimes than others and a few times with none. Is it the operator or atmospheric conditions or do some trains catch them better than others or what? I've had plenty of OK rides a few that were absolutely horrible and a couple that were just amazing. I'm just wondering if there's any way to increase the chance of amazing or if all I can do is hope for the planets to align properly.
Yeah, the Photo booth is definitely done for. There aren't that many riders to begin with. It would just cost them more to keep the photo booth open than it would be to leave it closed. I just can't see them making enough profit from it to justify keeping it open.
Does this mean that they'll demolish the photo booth for 2014? I'm sure they could just plant a couple of trees in the area so it doesn't seem empty.

What controls how much trim you get on a particular ride is how fast the trains are operating. Each train gets timed and depending on how fast it goes through the course, the trims are used "more". So if a train is running fast on a certain day the trim brakes will be stronger and vice versa.
^Would this mean they would use the trims more during Halloweekends? The temperatures are cooler which might make the trains go faster. Does that sound right?
Maint. sets the trims and their levels, to adjust they will come out and adjust the PLC & trim time, ect. When working maggie, on cold days with wind we would time the train, depending on the time from start-stop we would have the trims adjusted, usually with wind/cold it's less trimmed, warmer and faster, it's trimmed more (unfortunately haha). I've only had a few great weather, trimless rides, and they are fantastic.
