That was when CP was NOT America's Roller Coast though.
Oh yeah, since I made a myspace up a couple weeks ago, I saw Cedar Point and they have a cool myspace.

So they move the train slighty. It's not the end of the world and I seriously doubt anyone would notice the change to the path. If you look at the image I outlined in red the most likely relocation of the train. Any other relocation would put the train directly through the middle of the WWL site, onto Permeter Road, or through the middle of the midway. This seems to be the only place it could be moved and still keep the same station.
Still a HUGE area for a ride.

That picture speaks a thousand words. The fact that they moved the train even speaks louder words. (2007 is gonna be a good year).

Like I said on another post, an Intamin coaster over 500 feet named Maverick will be the new attraction for 2007! A record breaker!
Now, MrScott, you speak as though you have seen the area. Do you mean that they have already moved it, or that they have in the past and can do it again?
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
When is the 500 feet thing going to get old?
Oh wait...it did a long time ago.

Dear God I hope not. CP can't afford to have another headline coaster that's closed for weeks at a time.
Goodbye MrScott
John
What if it's not "another headline coaster that's closed for weeks at a time"? No offense to you John, but you might be jumping the gun a bit too soon. How can you say that it will have an extensive amount of downtime if it hasn't even been built yet?
And I'm not saying that there isn't a chance for it to have downtime! All I'm saying is that there's as good of a chance of it running good as much as there is a chance of it having extensive downtime. That's a chance that CP/Kinzel is either willing or not willing to take. We just have to wait and see.
And the "Come On, Get On" song lives again, YES!!!:)

Cedar Point didn't make it, Point Xtreme did.
Thanks for that picture, do you think you could make it a little bit bigger?

TTD 120....if the name "Intamin" is attached to it, it will experience above average downtime. I only need to point to CP's last 3 coasters to prove my point.
Goodbye MrScott

Yeah, but there's always room for improvement. Rushing into things (like Dragster) is the cause of most problems with an advance ride. If it's not well thought out, it won't live up to expectations......or at least it wont until it's fixed properly.;)
What if this new coaster was on the drawing board for a WHILE and a GREAT deal of time was spent into "how to keep it from massive downtime"?
Still, it's an unsure issue.....even if it is Intamin and their record.
And in any case, we're not sure if it'll even be an Intamin! At this point, Cedar Point holds all the cards.

Understandable but you must admit they are amazing rides.
Also, people don't realize how much trouble other rides do give Cedar Point. Magnum sets up so easily, Iron Dragon lift is always breaking down, Gemini can't run in ANY sort of rain or they have to completely fix the entire thing.
So all the roller coasters give Cedar Point all these troubles so just don't think it's just this from a certain company. They all have had their share of downtime and all have had problems.
CS-2005
Does anyone know how to fix the hole in the bucket?
Magnum setting up so much (last year only) was a direct result of the new loose article policy which completely defies logic considering Magnum's loading and unloading process.
It's true that other two rides you mentioned are showing their age, but the argument being made is not merely about the maintenance in general, but rather the fact that a couple of the Intamin rides seem to have remained in that "buggy" first year stage. Naturally they have improved a bit but they are still far from running problem free consistanty.
And when I say problem free, I don't mean running well up until it destroys its own propulsion system...I mean manageable wear and tear with normal maintenance.

There's no hiding the fact that Intamin rides do have their share of downtime. But, there's also the fact that they are some of the best rides put in at CP.

Raptor is also among those best rides at CP. And it didn't experience near the downtime that the 3 I's have. And Iron Dragon is almost 20 years old. I expect a ride that old (or older in your example of Gemini) to have some issues. Not rides that haven't even had a decade of use on them. MF is probably the most reliable of them, and that's not saying much.
As for TTD being rushed into. I believe it was already being planned as MF opened. There was nothing rushed about the design. It was just poorly done.
And for those of you that think I just hate Intamins, I consider WT one of the top 3 coasters at the Point. I just wish it would run more consistently than it has been. I don't think I've been there since it opened and not seen it down for some reason (other than weather).

Vince982,
It's a done deal. The track has been moved. 18 feet closer to the road, I believe.

Very interesting. If you don't mind me asking, how do you know this? I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
WT was supposed to have been a pretty proven technology by the time it was installed at CP. Yet it still managed to have an amazingly high amount of downtime it's first couple years, and it still seems to be down for at least a week or two every season.
If it is an Intamin, let's hope it's not a launcher and that they find a way to make the seats more accomodating to avoid some of the bad vibes that MF has created. *** Edited 2/8/2006 6:33:43 PM UTC by Ralph Wiggum***
