I remember the Hampster Dance! But what the heck is the Lake Erie Hampster Dance?

I like that song. But what does it have to do with CP or Lake Erie?

Does anyone think that Cedar Fair will release the Press Release during the middle of the Operating Season instead of the off-seaon like they have been doing the past three years?? I think its been three years since they have announced a new ride during the operating season?

If there is a ride going up shouldn't we see something opening day going on in the back of the park (footers??) who knows?

Can't wait for my First trip back to Cedar Point May 20.

I'm not to sure if CP's outlook is the same, but I think of it this way. A family in Michigan plan to stay at the park for a weekend in October. In the mean time CP annouces a great new coaster opening next year. The ride makes headlines all over and gets people excited. Now the family in Michigan have seen the headlines for the new coaster that opens next year and rethink their plans and decide to go the following year for the new coaster.

That's a very good decision, unless you're CP. They want people coming through that gate every year. So announceing the new ride after the season ends means that they will get the family in Michigan to stay for the original plans (along many others) and now have the posibility of them coming again next year to ride the new ride.

That's the difference of an ethusiast and the GP. The ethusiast make sure they come every year no matter what, while the GP don't make it every year like it's part of their religion.

That is a really good way to look at it, I never thought about it last year. Good thinking Gomez.

Hasen't it just been the past three years that when a new ride gets put in they announced it after the season was over, but what did they do before the last three years didn't they announce it during the season and it has always seemed to work out fine so why start a different trend. I see what you are talking about Gomez, I was just wondering. Your statment is true, I am just wondering.

Could be, but CP also closed much earlier until recently. Power Tower and Millennium Force were the only major rides that have been announced early since Halloweekends started. *** Edited 2/11/2006 6:40:19 AM UTC by Gomez***

And that's only because PT was nearly finished before the park closed in 97.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I honestly am expecting something like this:

At the end of a fireworks display, there is always the "grand finale."

I do not expect one ride or one coaster to end up in the space cleared in Frontier Town; rather, I think there will be a revamping of sorts with perhaps a great roller coaster (that doesn't necessarily break height or speed records, but is intensely fun), and a few smaller rides, and perhaps some new buildings (stores, restaurants, etc.). I could see a new flume ride (obviously), or a spinning-rapids ride, or another ride incorporating water.

I think that there WILL be more than one thing happening...but I am not going to freak out about it. Whatever happens will be cool.

Why else would they prohibit photos of the area?

Just one reason that makes sense will be OK.

MrScott

Here's another vantage point of the WWL's plot of land. I posted it early last year when many of us suspected that WWL was next on the chopping block. This picture shows it in relation to how much space Mean Streak takes up. They are nearly identical in area.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

In today's world, big companies don't do things if they think it will yeild a profit. However, in some cases (Six Flags) it doesn't, but that was their original intent. So I think we all agree somthing WILL happen to the old White Water Landing site, after all why take out a good family ride?

Although, I do not speculate what it could be, or even in this "Maverick" name is going to be assocated it it. Yeah sure, it could the 500 ft coaster you've dreamed about, named Maverick. Yeah sure, it could be a flyer, hell even a dueling flyer. But the truth is, no body knows. (well some, just not the ones talking) I'll have to say, we can speculate all we want, "but the ones who know aren't talking, and the ones who talk don't know".

Only time.... can tell

Where did they come up with the name Maverick? Maybe... just maybe from my suggestion back in 2002 to name top thrill dragster.... Maverick ;).

My post was also sent to the marketing dept in November of 2002. See below:

"after all why take out a good family ride"

I think CP said it was taken out because of its high maintenance cost. Too much of a pain to keep up on I guess......

I'm really going to miss WWL, I've only been on it 3 times... But I liked how it didn't get you soaked, and it was a walk-on everytime...

Actually, the last time I rode it, I had to take a piss really bad, and all that water around me didn't help make it any better, plus the fact I hate public restrooms so I had to run back to the hotel...

"The Sky is the limit" dont you remeber that? Its next year roller coaster it going to be a tall coaster !!!!

Bring back Boblo!

And your logic is....what again?

Or something that FLYS, or a flyer jkoaster.. .lol
