Cedar Fair has filed for the trademark name "Maverick". Could this be the 2007 Coaster for CP. The name fits with the theme of the area of Frontiertown.

How did you get that? Anyway, Maverick isn't really my idea of a name for a coaster, I think Cedar Fair can be a bit more original then stealing the name from a movie...
It should be called... !Crazy Huge Monkey Battle Westren Themed Flying Contraption... Coaster!

Or they stole it from an NBA team... Dallas Mavericks. :-D
Just a hunch, but I think we are not getting dueling flyers. :-)
I really think it is a B&M floorless coaster.
(or we could all be wrong and this is for Michigan's Adventure and their hyper. :-D. And Cedar Point's Flyers will be trademarke later not to hype everyone this early)
I heard about this a while ago. Not sure what to make of it, but the Name fits the area--if it's for Frontier Town.

Its got to be Cedar Point look at all the merchandise there going to sell. Most of the items iv'e only seen in Cedar Point out of the whole Cedar Fair chain.
Hmm, they sure do have alot of merchandise marked down for the name.;)
Kind of doesn't bring to mind a monster coaster. But it works well for a floorless or inversion coaster. But who knows, it just might work for a monster coaster.
And I just love how confident Mike from thepointol says things.
Cedar Point is expected to build a roller coaster on the site of White Water Landing that will "outdo Dragster".
The Point Online will follow this trademark procedure closely and will bring you the latest information on Cedar Point's 2007 Monster when we get it.
Makes me cringe with excitment.:)

I am now convinced that Cedar Point is getting a 800 ft 15 inversion monster named Maverick in Frontier Town. ;) I swear, they make the US Patent Office website so complicated you can't find anything on it. First one to find it on USPTO's website will get MAJOR props from me.
Edit: Okay, I feel stupid that Sarmad posted that link and I didn't even notice it. *** Edited 2/2/2006 1:36:32 AM UTC by Fastball84***
Just because they have reserved the trademark "Maverick" under all the categories doesn't mean they are making souvenirs under all the categories. You TM the name under everything so that noone else has a loop-hole to make knock-offs.
If CF (notice it is not Cedar Point) didn't reserve the name "Maverick" for, say, keychains, then someone would have some room to stand on making un-official "Maverick" keychains.

Well fortunatly, people don't care and make illegal stuff anyway...

I think Maverick sounds like a good name for a western coaster. I really don't a floorless. We already have Raptor and Mantis. We need something different...like a flyer. I think a Dive Machine would be cool but that's already been beaten to death by a different board. *** Edited 2/2/2006 3:02:24 AM UTC by CPking1027*** *** Edited 2/2/2006 3:02:41 AM UTC by CPking1027***

This makes sense, but if it is interesting that Skyhawk doesn't seem to have nearly the same amount of merchandise trademarked for it:

There are many rides at CP that have no Trademark on their name. Major rides such as TTD, MF, and Raptor all have them.
I really like the name. Let's just hope we are right here.

^Not really. It was rumored to be a new ride at WOF, but there was a discussion on here about the chance it might be for CP. That's the way I remember it at least.

Yeah, where does thepointol get all this stuff? Pointbuzz is #1. I agree with Screamomatic, whenever I hear that name, all that comes to mind is Top Gun. Perhaps Kings Island should consider purchasing the rights...

I can honestly say I never believed Patriot was going to CP and I always thought WoF based on the posts over on Coasterbuzz. That being said, we know that whatever is going in next year is going into Frontiertown. This is pretty easy to realize based on T&T, Cedar Point's not allowing any pictures of the area to be released, and the fact that there's now a giant open field in that area. Now granted, a lot of people don't buy into the Kinzel bang theory, as the time for his retirement is coming I am buying more and more into this theory of us getting something massive. I think Kinzel wants to make up for the mistake that he calls TTD. And finally, don't tell me Maverick isn't the perfect name for a huge roller coaster out in Frontier Town.
