Length: This picture basically says it all...

I am new here, but I just wanted to say that people here are jumping to conclusions too fast.

Here is what is currently known:

Height-300-500 feet

Speed-90-150 MPH

Length-1,000-5,000 feet

That is basically it.

No one really knows (who doesn't work for the Point) what the hell they are doing. For now, it is just speculation as to what is happening.

It could be 500 feet and go 200 MPH. Does that mean it will? No. Does that mean it won't? No. Then again, it could be 250 feet and go 80 MPH. Does that mean it will? No. Does that mean it won't? No.

Once Cedar Point announces the ride, I am sure some attitudes will change. Whether they will change for the better is yet to be seen.

I am one to believe the L-TH-B...in fact, I was the one who started that thread a few weeks back. But I do have to say this: There is a number of flat track out in the lot that is not brakes, nor transfer. Now what I'm saying is that the brakes may not begin where the supports rise to the level that flat track would accomodate, but rather it be a few pieces of flat-non-brake track that would allow you to feel a bit more speed before hitting the brakes.

Also, I'm still extremely confused about the amount of twist in the lot. For some reason, although I do think L-TH-B, I have a feeling CP's going to throw something else in that will shock us. It maybe just wishful thinking, but the track is way too twisted for a gradual 90 degree twist if you ask me.

And there are 3 more catwalks to be installed...very interesting indeed....

I think some people here are just to quick to shut down other opinions. They are just opinions. If someone says they don't like it because it's too short, fine. It's an opinion.

This is going to be one hell of a ride, no doubt. But my favorite part of Millie is not the drop (I'm not saying looking down 300ft isn't a rush), it's the speed of the ride. I love everything whiping by me faster than I can look at it and the Gs around the turns and overbanks. If you can't tell by my name and signiture, I'm somewhat of a speed junkie.

With that being said (and not to piss anyone off), it is my opinion that I would love to see this ride be longer. I'm not saying I won't like it either way (I can always go to Millie for the length). But I don't think a long coaster traveling at 100+ would be redundant or a waste of space.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with offering constructive criticism and fielding the 'what if's'. I'm talking to the people who aren't even giving the thing a chance yet.

I notice you keep bringing this issue up. I'd just want to point out the various pictures all over the internet of the apex of the tophat. It has a support connector on the underside of the track. The tower will support the entire tophat, further reinforced by the curved handrails and stairs that match the curviture of the tophat.

i spoke with someone at the park yesterday, who, when he realized that my friends and i knew WAAAYYY more then we should, cracked like an egg.

425 feet. no speed given.

MORE than L:TH:B...park wants everyone to THINK that's what it is.

when this person said that he thought it was going to be L:TH:B, he was told "NO".

also ran into the parents of someone who works in P&D and they said that their son won't tell them what it is or when it's going to be announced. apparently the penalty for doing so is death...

take this as what it is...info from differing sources that may or may not be correct. all i am doing is passing it on to you...

is that all they told you tell me more what you know im intrested!
that's all he said. we wanted to be as covert as possible...

the guy said that when he asked if its gonna be L:TH:B, he was told "no" by whoever it was he asked. he did not tell us who told him that. i can only figure it was someone who knows (obviously).

it also seems like CP is trying to wait on the announcement until after SFWOA and SFMM officially announce THEIR rides. it also seems like CP is either deliberately releasing false info or just NOT correcting the rumors in order to REALLY trump SF...

seems to me like the employees who arent afraid to ask questions about it are getting little bits of info here and there...

Who knows! Maybe it's true maybe it isn't, but either way it already has a different element then launch tophat brakes, It contains launch, tophat, twist, brakes. This is a given when looking at the already placed supports on the down side.
"Remember how we followed up Magnum?" --- I was thinking about this one last night. We got two incredible coasters from who was 'hot' at the time, B&M. Now we've got two, back to back from Intamin. Including Millennium Force, it's "Intamin's Three-peat at the Point." I am psyched. You know you cheered on your return to the unload station your first time on Millennium Force. This thing will give you that same feeling all over again. "

FYI, The 2 B&M's came in 1994 (Raptor) and 1996 (Mantis). This would not be the follw-up to Magnum.

Magnum (1989) was followed by Disaster Transport (enclosing and retheming Avalanche Run bobsled) and Mean Streak in 1991, which was hyped as tallest and fastest woodie, Rattler debacle notwithstanding.

I think the parallel here is a minor coaster the next year, and a major one the year after.

I was basing my speculations on the ride solely on Xclerator. That strange piece of yellow support, the one with all of the "outlets" on it will probably be at the very top of the tower, the outlets will hold supports going out to the tophat pieces of track, kind of like a clock dial with hands from 9 to 3 oclock if you get my drift. The tophat will be supported, interesting. Thanks Gravity for pointing out that piece to me,I hadn't seen it before. Even if the tower only goes 350 or 375, those supports could be 50 feet long and still be plenty strong enough. This thing could go over 400 afterall.

People seem to think that it is going to come down at the same speed it goes up,over 100mph. If it twists on the way down and is not propelled downward,is this possible?

I wasn't referring to you Grav, the ones who disappear after high school bedtime is who I was talking to. I agree with you dude, and you even helped me understand this ride completely-thanks again.

I dont understand how people can say that the people, like me, who think there is going to be more than L-TH-B are wrong and are in denial of the truth when in fact there is NO truth yet. Unless of course, you are one of the 75 people who have signed the confidentiality (sp?) papers. And if you havn't then you don't know the truth either. So whos in denial? No one is, because we are all just speculating. So telling someone they are wrong or right about this is insane. And someone mentioned it earlier, but as soon as this thing is going to be announced opinions will change. And I hope that 1/2 of the people here who say that they will be disappointed if its not what they are expecting dont get in line for this thing next year. Becuase your just wasting your time and mine. Its going to be a fun ride regardless and we all know it, so why cant we just enjoy the fact that there is going to be a new skyline and a major facelift at the park when we get to go back next May?!?!
425. No. That would be neck braking speed.

Love,
The Mole

Why is it neck breaking speed? It could go 1000 mph and no one would get hurt. As long as the accelleration isn't too fast that is. Remember Newton's first law: "an object in motion will remain in motion until an outside force is acted upon it." Your body won't know the difference between still and 100mph, what would kill people is any sudden changes in speed. As long as the launch is long and braking smooth, no one will get hurt.

--James

I think this is going to be a great addition to CP. Even if it is L-TH-B I will still ride this with a huge adrenaline rush. At least the ride time will still undoubtedly be longer than S:TE. With that "coaster" being launch go up half-way to 3/4 of the tower, then drop back down. From what I understand people love the ride including some officials at CP...

jdoty is right. Think about it, why are we fine on airplanes even though we can be cruising at 400 or 500 mph?

Yes James you are right, but Newtons first law of gravity doesn't really include friction, and air resistance, including those your body would no the difference and yes if the brakes went to a sudden halt you would end up with a few broken ribs with otsr's.

Jeff, you said there'd be one bad thing about the ride. For the shortness of this coaster, I can figure out like 8 million reasons why I'll be disappointed. You should have just said that this coaster would be extreeeeemely short... (bawling my eyes out)

This isn't true, everyone that knows about the ride has signed legal documents stating that they wont give out ANY information. They said this on the action news report of the ride. If the person that told you did this he would lose his or her job and be slap with legal action. Don't make things up....
