Were you and your friend in the same car? I can't see how reaching from the 3rd row of seats in a car to the 1st row would need either to move out of there seats in anyway.
Now reaching between cars is another story and whether standing or not sounds like reasonable grounds for removal from the park. (Signs everywhere say remain seated.)
If your friend was so worried about his glasses, couldn't he just hold them in this hand? I do it all the time with sunglasses, and its not like Mach 3 with forces ripping them from your hands.
Additionally, how many people goof off and then make up a story like yours. Not saying yours is made up, but I would rather CP err on the side of caution than take a chance of a possible idiot who gets hurt and the next thing is seatbelts even tighter and hence preventing many of us from riding. *** Edited 6/19/2006 8:27:44 PM UTC by Headrush***
The bottom line here is that there is clearly much to this story none of us will ever hear. However, all of us long time CPers know very well that it would take a LOT, or at least something very significant, for someone to actually be removed from the park and these extreme measures to be taken.
Personally, I say a big THANK YOU to the magnum employee and the staff for finally getting rid of some of the undesireables at Cedar Point that make your day and my day a little less fun by their "jovial" behavior.
Have fun at Six Flags, guys. You'll fit in MUCH better there anyway, and NEVER get kicked out!

Promoter of fog.
Yeah, the story seems to have changed. You left out a little detail from the first post. It went from "he leaned ocer to get his glasses" to "he leaned up 2 rows to get his glasses." You have no case, because obviously you would have to stand to reach up 2 rows. There is no point in wasting your money on a lawyer.

This is hilarious. I think we've all been trolled. Unless this guy's friend is Mr. Fantastic, he'd not only have to stand up, but crawl over the people in front of him to get those glasses. Yeah, I think that's grounds for removal from the park. :)

A crucial part of the job of the ride operator is to watch for guests violating Cedar Point's rules. Your friend violated a rule, and the ride operator responded according to company policy. I've kicked people out for the same reason.
Sorry for your luck.

Word of advice... don't lean over any seat, on any ride, ever again, or where inappropriate shirts to the park... I think it'll save you a world of grief.

Is it even possible to stand up on Magnum? With the way the lapbars are I would think it would be impossible to do unless the lapbar failed and I'm sure they would not just send the train on its way if that happened. But hey whatever...this is such a stupid thread.

File a complaint against the officer. Better yet call the CPPD and ask to talk to a superior.
I am familar with your situation and also think its lame.
Maybe you should change the title of this subject to I love CP again, Thanks Mr Kinzel.
Hopefully you learn something from all of this and have fun without involving OTHERS. Give "jovial" behavior to each other without bothering anyone and keep it clean. Believe it or not, some people do get offended by those who feel time in line is a great time to mock, make fun of out loud, or even insult others. I just hope this isn't you. And all of this is just a big misunderstanding.
Since the merges don't seemed to be staffed this year, I noticed more rule violations in line than ever before. Sitting on rails, linejumping, no shirt, and my biggest issue SMOKING. While I know punks that must break these rules don't care what I think or care about rules, I don't care if they get thrown out for breaking them and in fact love it and wish I could laugh in thier faces.

Now I don't know how involved Dick Kinzel is with guest situations in ALL of the parks but somehow I don't beleive this line 1 bit. If it was John Hildebrandt yes, but Mr. Kinzel I have a hard time beleiving.
That's great to know that if you whine enough you can get whatever you want - even if it means making exceptions to safety rules.
This thread and that "one rider's quest to ride" thread kind of make me want to vomit. Employees are written up and fired all the time for safety infractions. But here we have two cases of employees doing their jobs as they were trained in order to keep guests safe. But the guest whines and creates such a scene that the park gives them their way in order to shut them up. That's gotta make the people who are on the front lines trying to enforce the rules (nomatter how stupid the rules may seem) feel real great to know they will get backed up by their management 100%.
NOT! :(

I have to say I agree MDOmnis. It sucks when management makes rules but isn't willing to back the employees when they enforce those rules.
Besides, if this kid is as dumb as it sounds, it won't be long before he is booted again for something.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Basically the whole problem could have been avoided if the friend had just asked the people in the car between them to please pass his glasses to him. Believe it or not common courtesy CAN work. There was no need to lean forward at all.
Matt is correct about management backing up their own rules... but what can you do? It's just like Cedar Fair to go back on their word to protect their image...

It was a little harsh, but you have no say in what they can and cannot do. They have the right to throw you out of the park and they felt that you needed to leave.

First of all I broke no saftey rule as I fit the test seat it was the crew of milli at the time that was giving me a hard time by not even working with me in the slightest bit and just kicking me off the train....
By the way if the crews from TTD or WT are on here reading this I give you two thumbs up for actually helping a bigger guest trying to ride...
MDOmnis I wish that you would actually READ the threads before just saying that the situations are the same when they are not...
And you make me want to throw up...

They weren't giving you a hard time. The rules specifically state that you must be able to buckle your own safety belt. The ops don't HAVE to help you with anything. It is entirely up to their discretion and mood whether they help you buckle your belt.
