There are two sides to every story...
No, there are three. Person A's side, Person B's side, and the Truth.
If the kid continues to go to the park with a questionable shirt on even after being told to turn it inside out, he shows he does not take management orders seriously. After he is seen standing up on a ride, the park does not care what the reasons are. They'll keep him out of the park to promote a family-friendly environment for everyone else.
While I feel for you, I don't think you should be mad at Cedar Point, but your friend for not thinking. I'm sure situations like this are pretty shocking when you have security waiting for you when the ride is over. It cannot get any better when they park is unwilling to let someone with a negative record back into the park. The park ends up with a fuzzy policy if they just let him back in the park while still having the opinion he does not take security requests seriously, however.
Unfortunately it's impossible to get far with a park when you have lost your credibility through actions. Depending on your age, I think the best chance you have of getting his season pass back is to have a parent call the park and talk with whoever is refusing the return of the pass. "I don't have a riding partner since my friend screwed up by continuing to wear questionable clothing and stand up on rides" is not a good reason for the park to give back access to the park. Telling the park reasons for him doing something he is clearly not supposed to be doing is worthless. It simply shows a lack of accountability. Standing up to get attention toward someone having a heart attack or someone with a lose bar are valid reasons to break the rules. Sun glasses are not a valid reason. *** Edited 6/19/2006 4:12:18 PM UTC by TTDragster105***

My friends and I are faithful and loyal Cedar Point guests... check out our pass usage... we spend tons in the arcade, and would never intentionally do anything to obstruct a ride.
I agreed with what CP did until I found out that you spent THAT much money on arcade games. Knowing that, CP is WAY outta line for doing anything against your friend. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

Okay, so someone could have been injured, and ride shut down for investigation, even possibly having employees fired for not doing something about it, but we're not going to enforce our rules, and we're going to let them keep their pass because they spend a lot in the arcade....? I don't see the thinking there.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

No matter what, though, it still sucks. Being banned from having a season pass?? I'd cry. And if my partner couldn't have one either?? That would be even worse!

he was standing up on the ride. Sorry for the confusion, it was hard to type without being confusing. He has a shirt of questionable matter. We have been to the park over 100 times in the last 4 years and have never been told anything about the shirt. they added the shirt incident to the police report, it happened 2 days prior to the incident in question.
From this statement right here it sounds as though you have absolutly no case at all in the state of OHIO. Ohio has some of the toughest amusement laws in the country. Refer to the Anderson's Online version of the Ohio revised code. You can find the link at Ohio.gov. The law that protects Cedar Point is section 1711.51 subsection 1. Also known as 1711.511.
It by law must be posted at the entrance to every amusement ride in Ohio (and it is on all the signs at CP). It decribes any action not heeding warnings, and failure to conduct ones actions in a safe manner to be a chargable misdemeaner in Ohio. Since CP police (a licensed state of Ohio Police department, not rent a cops) handled the situation, I think it's a lot worse than you might think. If your friend did stand up, he probably has a justifiable misdemeanor charge on his record. In which case if you do want to take this to court you not only have to battle Cedar Point but possible state prosecution..... I don't know how this works. If you truly think nothing was done wrong I would seek advise from a lawyer soon.
Personally, I would have left the sunglasses on. If they fell off, the blame would be off your shoulders and on the operators who clearly missed the glasses to begin with. Granted you should have read the warnings in the fun guide and such. It'ds honestly a peice of cake job for operators to see that. I used to work in Ride Operations...
As for those of you who don't understand why the ride was stopped for putting the glasses in the pocket. Think about it, from the cameras point of view it is very possible for the operator to think the person was tampering with the safety belt. However if the person was standing up, the operator has an obligation by law to stop the ride and make sure the passenger is secured. If it is a misdemeanor for the rider, think about the charges brought on to the operator and park if something happened and they had a suspicion that something was wrong but ignored it.
From the one side I have read here, I would say there is no case but more damage to your friend if you pursue legal action. If you really want to battle this I would physically call the park and BE NICE give a small 1 paragraph description of the incident and find out who you can write and what to do when that doesn't work. I know what they will tell and I could tell you, but I feel it is a more proactive aprroach for you to show you are honestly concerned. Basically at this point, with their documentation you are actually fighting ORC 1711.551. *** Edited 6/19/2006 5:32:40 PM UTC by MonsterMan***
While this may or may not be relevant, if I was in charge at a park, I would watch the people in coaster-gear like a hawk. I don't trust "enthusiasts" at all after some of the stuff I've seen some of them pull.
Reguardless of the somewhat confusing story, I'm going to have to side with the park on this one. Standing up, or otherwise defeating the restraints enough to lean two rows forward is a big no-no, reguardless of the good intentions about securing the glasses. Your life and the lives of those around you are worth a bit more than a pair of glasses. I applaud the park for removing people who endanger themselves like this. Add to it whatever incident you had with the offensive t-shirt and the cards are really stacked against you.
As for the void stamps, it's my understanding that they'll use the black light to check your wrist for an existing stamp. If you have one, they'll either have you wash it off (hard to do, I still found some of that stuff on my hands three weeks after my last day in admissions) or just put a void over top of it. I'm not certain about that though, as I never saw anyone try to come back into the park after getting kicked out.
PS. Magnum does not require straps for glasses, and they will typically stay put on your head unless they are way too large for that particlar person. *** Edited 6/19/2006 5:46:09 PM UTC by Ralph Wiggum***

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I agree about the glasses on Magnum Chris. My first reaction to this was "All that for sunglasses on Magnum"? If you've spent any length of time at the park you'll know that glasses are OK on Magnum.

The Nachos makes a good point up there. If you've been to the park over 100 times in the past few years you surely have had a few laps on Magnum under your belt. Why the super urgent need to pass glasses two rows back? Magnum isn't so violent your friend couldn't keep them on his face, or even just hold on to them.
I smell something afoul. There's much more to this story than we're hearing.
Holy crap cedar point is hated? Not new plus why would post this story on here (if it indeed happen). Posting this will wont look good if you do go to court, cause CP watches these websites like a hawk.

I think cp has in there spiels that "Cp is not responible (sp?) for any items lost or stolen while ridding"
so it would not be on the shoulders of the ride op. IF you say you worked in ride operations then you should know that spiel!
