Has TTD Been Testing?

To settle this, here's what CP said

"Thank you for your interest in Cedar Point.

The lagoon is not drained every off season. The fish
just stay put and hibernate all Winter.

If you have any other questions about Cedar Point, please call our
Information Line at 419-627-2350.

There....

Tell me you did not seriously ask what happens to the carp in the lagoon when it's drained.

My god, can the season just start already so we can move on from this nonsense....

Technically, I asked what happened to the FISH, since there's more than just carp.

And you're right, this is nonsense. It's drained rarely and thats all to it.

Dont worry, only 15 more days left.

TTD120mph, is your name Thomas?

How blessed are those who have not seen, and yet believe? :)

The lagoons are man-made, and are connected to Sandusky Bay by means of a gate near the 'back' of the peninsula, not far from Thunder Canyon. When Dragster was under construction, the gate was closed to keep water from entering the lagoons, cofferdams were put around the Dragster construction site, the water level in the entire lagoon system was lowered, and the Dragster site was pumped nearly dry. This was during the tail end of the operating season.

My guess is that the lagoons are not pumped out every season, as I think they would have to be pumped out; I don't think there is anywhere else for the water to go.

No it's not Thomas, it's Adam. :)

Thanks for the info. I had thoughts of rather or not there was a type of filling system they used for the lagoon. But I sort of ignored it because I wasnt aware that the lagoon was man-made.

So it's like I sometimes always say, We learn something new every day.

I couldn't resist. Especially after hearing the original version a couple of weeks ago. :)

Anyway, a bit of history for you...

One of these sprawling developments was an elaborate system of lagoons that were to stretch from the center of the resort to the tip of the peninsula. Soon after the close of the 1904 season, {G.A.} Boeckling signed a $25,000 contract with the Detroit Dredging Company for excavation of a series of interconnected, parallel lagoons, ten feet deep and as wide as 150 feet at some places. Personally supervising much of the dredging, Boeckling planned to import a fleet of Venitian gondolas to leisurely operate on the new lagoons. Although the plans for the gondolas never materialized, naptha launches, rowboats and canoes soon populated the waters. In addition, the lagoons proved ideal for hauling coal to the powerhouse built a season later. Cedar Point offered many romantic niches, but the lagoons soon became the most romantic feature of the resort. Soft colored lights illuminated part of the lagoons and tree limbs bowed to touch the slow moving waters, creating a private retreat for young couples on shady afternoons and moonlit evenings.

Yes, but I am not sure how to explain it. You have to drive over it to get back to the Soak City parking lot.

In fact I think there are two intake points...one for the lagoons, one for Thunder Canyon.

Is it close to the Millennium Force first turnaround?

I don't think TTD would be testing in this weather anyway. They are expecting snow in Detroit and the wind is howling in Cleveland.

Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
