Wouldn't surprise me if its that problem too, although they'll run MF in light rain. Could possibly be a combination of the 2.
But MF wouldn't have the same problem with the wheels as it's not being launched, and thus theoretically the weight is on the track more due to gravity. Although, I'm not a physics major, and won't claim to be one. This could be totally false.
Anyway, that's what one of the more 'senior' maintenance people told me last summer. Maybe he was feeding me a line of BS, maybe not. Who knows. :)
Oh, and I didn't even realize I called it Dumpster. Guess I'm so used to typing and calling it that.

My sources told me it was testing.
2005 Season- 5 visits
maXair- 4 Spins
Dragster- 36 and ONE ROLLBACK
Funny, I was at Corkscrew all day today and I didn't see it launch once. Must be that invisible train and muted launch sound they installed.
Does your day get any worse if TTD does not launch? It will happen when it happens.
But I hope you had fun watching us cycle Corkscrew all day!
And then, when it finally is testing.. nobody says a word.

Yeah...we're in school. But it appears to be testing well.
BTW Gravity, That first pic of the train in mid launch is the awsome. Why? because I dont think I've ever been able to catch/see a train in mid launch.....from the webcams that is.

First rollback on Dragster July 23 2003 since then 15
I didn't think they would be doing the lights. Well I mean I kinda did. I figured they were just going to do normal launches that didn't involve the lights....or the audio. It has happened before, like the one time in the morning when they were testing without lights or audio. It's cool seeing it run without anything letting you know when your launching(even though most if not all of us know the whole launch procedure).
Another example was when one time, a train rolled back in prep for launching but when the brakes went down nothing happened. The x-mas tree turned off and so did the audio. 8 minutes went by when all of a sudden the train launched and took EVERYBODY by surprise!
And I still think the ride op's did it on purpose just to be funny. *** Edited 4/29/2005 9:44:53 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

I think reasons for the lights and audio lies in the technical problems that Dragster experiences frequently. My guess(just a guess) is that if a problem shows up, the computer(or ride op) "shuts down" certain systems like the audio and lights(which is programed to run in sync with the trains) ,among others, until until the problem is fixed.
Again, thats just my guess. *** Edited 4/30/2005 12:43:43 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

The lights go out automatically when there is a Trouble light. The audio at launch is controlled by the person launching the trains.
Oh and the part that you described about rolling back, the brake fins lowering and launching 8 minutes later didn't happen, at least not how you explained it. I know this because I know thats not possible. The person launching the train can't "trick" you into a suprise launch or anything. There is a specific amount of time between when the launch buttons are pushed and the train takes off. The length of that time is constant from launch to launch and cannot be controlled or changed by anyone on any given launch. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As stated above, the audio is controlled by the person at Launch. We can turn off all the engine sounds at the flick of a switch, and also are in control of the "Arms Down!" announcement... so yeah... when you hear it 20 times before you launch.. WE MEAN YOU! ;)
The lights go out by control of the computer... the audio is totally independant and controlled at the launch position.
