Has TTD Been Testing?

Ohio State said: Oh and the part that you described about rolling back, the brake fins lowering and launching 8 minutes later didn't happen, at least not how you explained it. I know this because I know thats not possible. The person launching the train can't "trick" you into a suprise launch or anything.

I might of been wrong about that.:P I guess I should of said"what seemed like 8 minutes" because it did happen back in 03. But I'm sure I remember the lights and audio going out(like it sometimes does anyway) and then launching without any notification.

Plus,(just as a question) wouldn't a train in a similar position launch when the problem is fixed and the system is started again? Or does it work differently?

I know that the times that it happened last year, the train(s) would be brought back into the station and most times the riders would get out of the train and back in line. But I bet that was probably because of a problem with the beginning of the launch track since the mechanics would be working there a couple of minutes later. *** Edited 4/30/2005 3:37:46 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Has Raptor,Mantis, or MF tested

Raptor and Mantis has, MF..not sure?

I was just watching Dragster on Cleveland cam and it went over faster than I have ever seen.

TTD_120mph to answer your question there are different things that need to be done. It depends on what the fault is and whether or not the launch sequence has started. If the launch buttons have been pushed and a fault occurs before the train actually launches, then the train has to be moved out of the launch position and then back into position before the train can eventually launch.

MF has started to cycle already also.

Thanks, Ohio state. Now I understand Dragster a bit better now.

I'm catching live feed of TTD testing right now on Cleveland if anyone wants to launch. I'm just getting lucky though, it's like 10 minutes between each launch.

I have seen Dragster, MF, Mantis, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, Raptor, maXair, and Power Tower testing.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Yeah I saw lights on the tower one day on the webcam. I don't think they were playing with the lights either. I didn't see the train in the webcam but I'm sure it was testing.

It's 5:30 on May 3rd, and they were testing earlier, but now they're putting the trains away on the transfer track, and there are people standing around the control room... do they put them away every night during the season (when it's operating regularly) or is this abnormal?

There's one thing for sure with Cedarpoint that always makes the trip worth the money. You can almost guarantee that not only will the new ride for the season be ready and operating BY OPENING DAY, but all the other rides will also be in operation (unless there's an issue preventing that)

That's world-class! It's the little things like that in which makes an enthusiast/consumer like me happy!

No not every night. They leave 2 trains in the station and the other three in the unloading station. The 6th is on the transfers (unless they do a six train operation this year).
The only reason(s) for all 6 trains on transfer track is because of problems. It's not really abnormal to see.

They usually transfer all six off every night for the trains to be inspected. They also often transfer all six on in the AM to test ride them and then they transfer one off.

Speaking of only 5 trains, didn't they say last year that they would increase it to 6 once it would actually help capacity (like June)?

I hope they run six that way, if there is a breakdown, at least some people like me won't be too far away from the plattform...lol.

At the end of the night all of the trains are transfered off and stored on the storage tracks. What most people don't realize is that we go in at 7:30 AM (most crews come in at 9:25) or ealier to transfer the trains back onto the track and get things ready and going for the day. This is done each and every day during the season, with a few rare exceptions. The Dragster Crew works a longer day than most if not all of the other ride crews in the park. Gotta love those paychecks :)

Wrong. Every night, every train goes back to storage tracks.. on every coaster... except Wicked Twister.

During my time at Millennium Force, we never transfered off trains at the end of the night unless maintenance requested it. Has that changed?
