Halloweekends 2011

Ahh. When I was young, the only thing I was afriad of was a monkey, especially with cymbals. Then I went to Carnevil in Halloweekends and well, that terror grew even more. A job well done! And I know this might be random, but were there tryouts for like the overlord position when it first came out? Or does the person get it every year? I know he is SUPER tall, and his coustume and make up is amazing. (And the person in the bunny suit in the toy factory also has been in my nightmares too...) I am planning on going to Halloweekends the first saturday it opens, so I will make sure to say hi to all you screamsters out there. Or maybe just scream and run by...

Last edited by Mr. Woodstock,

The overlord last year was assigned the job, I believe he was an emt at the park during the summer. No try out. and the girl in the bunny suit won't be in toy factory this year (suit should still be there) she'll be outdoors in one of the zones if I remember right.

You are welcome SSL488. We are planning new things in Carnevil to make you even more afraid of clowns. When you stop by say hi to Kilroy if you get a chance. That is if you can stop screaming for a quick second.

Which one is kilroy? Also, who is the one who rides around on the little bike?

Kilroy is the smallest clown that is usually roam the entrance where the waterfall is and terror island is. The person that you see on the bike is either kilroy or skittles.

Do you guys make up your own names or does someone else pick them out for you.

We make up our own names. Most screamsters even have a backstory to why they came back to life. This is what make screamsters so great because we are so devoted to our person and actually change once we put our mask on.

Well I Love all of you guys, you seriously make my Halloweekends visits amazing. I've had a season pass for the past five years and my girlfriend got one this year. We plan on going a lot this halloweekends.

We would really like to get our picture with some of the screamsters. Is this ok to do? Like would i be able to just go up to one of them and ask for a picture with them?

Well we reall aren't allowed to take pictures. But you got three options 1. Is at around 10:30 they will send two screamster up to the main enterance from each zone. I'm not sure if they will do that this year. Your second option is to take alot of pic when we walk to the overlord. Third even though you might get alot of nos is to ask the screamsters. The only problem with that is that we aren't really there to take pics with you. We are there to scare you and make sure you guys have a good time.

some monsters will flat out say no every time. They made sure to drill it into people after having a few monsters a couple years back spend more time doing that than their job. However, some of us will still stop and let you take a picture. Some of us never take breaks so taking the 5 minutes for a photo op is a nice way to catch our breath and figure out where to go next.

As the others have said, the best thing to do if you want a picture is ask. Some Screamsters will say no (or just ignore you) but some will say yes. You have a better chance if you catch us at a slower time. If it's extremely crowded, we're too busy scaring to stop for pictures. The absolute worst thing you can do is take "sneak attack" pictures, where you walk up and flash us in the face with no warning.

For me personally, I'll head up to the entrance of the zone (Terror Island) a couple times a night to give the guys up there a break and let them do something different for a little bit. That's generally the only time I'll stop for pictures unless it's a really slow night.

Also, as Killroy said, as of last year there are a few Screamsters from every zone and house at the front gate from about 45 minutes before the park closes until about 15 minutes after they close. Assuming they do that again this year, that's a great time for pictures.

I no way mean to start an arguement here but i lived right outside of jackson new jersey for 12 years and grew up around there. i went to six flags fright fest every year untill i was 12 and moved outside of cleveland. im now 14 and have been going to hw for going on 3 years. i think both parks are bar none great parks for year round, but i think fright fest is a little better for a few reasons. ive noticed cp uses alot of masks rather than make up. the masks are a little cheesey, the make up adds more of i guess a real factor? and i dont understand the schedule of halloweekends, why is sundays attractions not fully open untill october? is it because of shortage of employees? and at cedar point ive noticed alot of your employees come out of character often. i was walking through a house with a group of my friends one day and one of the guys im friends started talking and the actor just carried a small conversation not even like in a entertaining way it was a casual conversation. i know most of you wont take my input serious because im 14 turning 15 but i mean if your looking from a teenagers aspect here it is. and by the way im not a coaster freak, ive been to a few amuesement parks in my life but most of my lifes for football and wrestling year round so i guess im a little home sick of fright fest and saw this thread. no need for hate if i offended anyone i apologize i thought id just share my view of the two parks

That path by Iron Dragon that people are talking about...could it be for the rumored Dinosaurs Alive! or just a Halloweekend Haunt?

playstation gamer tag. connorwatmont. add me

I hope its a haunt. I wouldn't like dinisoaurs at the park.

the not breaking character thing is drilled into them in training, especially for those in houses. do people listen? sometimes. there's not much cedar point can to about it other than tell people not to do it and hope they follow that. The masks are something we get from knotts, the past few years they have done away with some of them (partially because they've got more monsters than masks these days) and the cheesy factor is arguable. some people would say a person with a painted human face isn't scary at all, and others would say that someone with the face of a wolf chasing them is thing of their worst nightmares. granted the year I was in fright zone with a wolf mask painted rainbow colors with sparkles like I was supposed to be in with the clowns, I was a bit pissed, because that just looked dumb and didn't fit anything.

as far as sundays, they are still pretty new. it used to only be friday and saturday night with one sunday, then last year they added a few more sundays to see how it worked and now even more. part of it is staffing, you have to have monsters there (which often times are college students, though we certainly are a diverse group) and some have school or work the next morning so its harder to get them to commit to three nights of work. on top of that you have to staff the rest of the park which is tough in this part of ohio where major cities aren't right next door to pull employees from.

And in the past, the park closed at 8 or 9 on Sundays. The outdoor zones typically start at 8 so that is the reason they never had them open on Sundays. The park never really wanted them open in the daylight since that takes away from the great atmosphere they have in the dark. The houses have always been open on Sundays however.

Keeping people in character can be a challenge. Some are simply better at it than others. There's really no excuse for breaking character in front of guests unless they're responding to a situation, but it unfortunately happens sometimes. However, with the houses switching over from the college groups to all Screamsters last year, it should be a considerably rarer occasion.

And some have to be at work 2 hours after the park closes that night! Although thankfully this year I finally have enough vacation to mostly eliminate that problem. :)

Hello!

First time poster here!

I have been coming to Cedar Point at least once a year for about 20 years now. It is the highlight of my year! (sad and pathetic? Maybe!) :-)

I used to live in Michigan, so I could go a lot more, now I have moved to Nashville, so I can only come up once a year.

We have a new family tradition where I meet up with my extended family every Halloweekends opening weekend in September.

I cannot WAIT for this year! I love seeing the progress that CP has made over the years... I remember when it used to just be one zone in frontierland... now it has become massive!

Any ideas when halloweekends.com is going to launch for the year?
