I would be amazed to find out the actual weight of the towers. How long does the concrete bases need to cure in the Winter before putting the towers on? And to see the final clad on the towers will be uber cool. Also, does anyone know if the towers are to remain hollow or do they plan on filling them with sand as well to muffle the "roar" above the main entrance.
And Shawn....inhale...hold...exhale.....shhhhhhh......
See ya in May!
Sorry for the mess. Signature under construction.
I would imagine they will let the concrete cure at least 7 days before removing the forms. How long it has to set before the can start placing force on top of it really is dependent upon the specification they are using and the strength they are looking for out of the concrete. I would guess another week though. Typically concrete gains 80-90% of its strength in the first 14 days of curing. The fact that its winter shouldn't affect the curing time as much as you think. They will just take some extra steps such as covering the concrete (which it appears they have done) and possibly placing heaters inside the tarp.
I was surprised to see that they had not even finished fabricating the keyhole towers as of a week or so ago (when Jeff got that tour). I wouldn't be surprised if we see them work on the turn around or the helix next, because it seems like it will be a couple of weeks before they are ready to put up the keyhole tower.

Probably steel framing, constructed similar to a gas station awning. I'm just as excitied about the new entrance as the coaster itself. The creative disney-like minds at work for Cedar Fair is really starting to show.
Shame, I haven't used the front entrance in probably over a decade. Might have to actually try it out this year.
