Front Gate Destruction/Construction

I bet the workers come on here and laugh all day.

I have to give it to the workers, they're doing a great job. They're almost half way done with the vertical construction and its not even January. Their goal is for testing to start in April but I can see this thing testing in mid-late March. It'll be nice to ride a new roller coaster on Opening Day for once,

Can anyone make out what has been demolished so far? It is so hard to tell. I wish they would bring the webcam in just a little bit so we can see destruction progress and see the building of the concrete pillars. It's so hard to tell from halfway through the parking lot. As of right now though, it looks like they are getting ready to add another piece of track.

They're somewhere between 1 and 100% done. ;)

No, according to the front page they're between 40 and 100% :)

That was more in regards to his question about the progress of the front gate demolition....not the entire project. :P

It will also be hard to tell on the webcam how far they are because they aren't getting rid of the whole thing. They are getting rid of the middle part where you actually enter the park but keeping the side parts which I think is called the season pass center

I am kinda surprised the concrete towers were not built ahead of time. They could have done it in a couple pieces, right and then assembled on site?

There are different advantages and disadvantages to both precast and cast-in-place. I'm sure CP/B&M took all this into consideration when making the decision on going with cast-in-place

It looks as though our favorite facebook page has been deactivated. Or I'm just an idiot.

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. You have to do more than that to be an idiot...just kidding. Anyway though, it's working now. :)

Or, you know, there's always PointBuzz. You remember PointBuzz, right? The place that's had the most comprehensive coverage of GateKeeper and every other thing Cedar Point since before some of you were born. :) We're even on the Facebook and the Twitters.

I'm not sure why this is the year of a million Cedar Point Facebook pages, but they can all get off our lawn!
