Facing the facts

You are right on maggie only having a 195 foot drop bob, and about the drop of 16, that brake track is at the most 20 feet off the ground, so the drop should be very close to the height. I say 115-418-400. Listen to what we're talking about, 115 mph and 400 foot drop, I need a time machine to skip to May 4th.

With Jeff posting in a different thread that the ride would be between 110-120 mph and the height between 400-450; and with what he posted here, the speed has to be between 113-120 mph and the height between 400-427. I will go one step farther and guess that it will beat S:TE so it should be:

Height: 416-427
Speed: 113-120
Drop: 400+???

We are getting close to the final numbers.

If you wanna get technical, the drop won't "bottom out" until the end of the brake run, which looks to be about six or seven feet off of the ground. ;)

DELETED!

Would that still be considered part of the drop if the train came to a complete stop before it decended from the level of the flat break run track?

1. Was Gemini the highest in the WORLD (not just the NATION) when it opened?

2. Was Gemini the FIRST to top 100 feet?

Same old technical debate that we get on the Maggie vs Moonsault Scramble for title of first of 200 feet.

1. It wasn't the highest period. It was the highest full circuit, perhaps - but there were already shuttle loop coasters operating in the USA which exceeded Gemini's height.

2. No. Unless, of course, you are talking just full circuit coasters in which case, I'm not sure.

If CP uses the brake run added into the drop height, then it will be well over 400 feet. To this I say, "Very, very sneaky, sir!"

Techinically the drop ends at the lowest point which should be the station. It won't be going at full speed but they could use it to break the 400 ft mark. This will be debated for a long time and not everyone will be in agreement as to where the drop ends.
The drop will be at least 400 ft. The speed will be at least 115 mph. The height will be at least 420 ft.

Predictioins:
115+ mph
400+ drop
420+ height

Anyone else think different?

(Insert something clever here)

I would think that none of the brake run should be counted as the drop! As soon as it begins braking that should be the end of the offical drop. The rest of the inclined track is so the train can smoothly return to the station using gravity, probably. Obviously if you get technical the drop side does meet at the same height as the launch side way back near the satation. (About 5 to 10 feet off of the ground.) At the beginning of the brake run though the height is much higher around 20 feet. This would make a 425 max height into a 405 foot drop! Like Jeff has been hinting, he has slowly been narrowing down the specs of the ride for us!
CP Bound, it can't go 125 mph.
It will be

400-500 ft tall

300-450 ft drop

100-150 mph

20-30 secs long

I say we all pick three numbers - speed, height, drop - and commit to them. Whole numbers only. Whoever has all three exactly right, with all decimals to be dropped, everyone has to send him or her a buck. Earliest posted time breaks ties.
Sounds fun except for the buck part. I don't think we should be giving out personal information.

Height 420
Speed 117
Drop 400

I never said it would go 125...

height 430

speed 118

drop 410

just a wild stab

Ok, then we all meet on a given day at the Ice Cream Parlor and everyone buys the winner ice cream cones. I'll take 121 mph, 426' high, 418' drop.
Opening day? At, say 7:00 pm?

418' overall height......

406' drop (to lowest point on the track)......

117.2 mph

are we figuring the drop to the lowest point, or to the end of the pull up?
P.S. I want the large sugar cones with 2 scoops of Praline Pecan/Butter Pecan. See you all there.
Unless some of you think that Jeff is wrong, you need to pay closer attention to the clues he has given us. CPbound you posted 122mph and jdubya 121 mph but Jeff gave us a range of 110-120 and then said it was over 112. rollercoast03, you guessed 430 feet high, but Jeff posted today that it was under 428.

I hope that I can make it on Ice Cream Cone Day, but I live over 700 miles away, so if I lose and can't make it, I hope you all understand.
