Pissed off about what? Boo-freakin'-hoo. Who cares? If someone kicks you in the nuts, that's something to be pissed off about. The fact that another ride is a little taller means so little in the cosmic scheme of things. It doesn't even rank in the top million things in the world to be pissed off about.
It's asinine comments like that one that give Cedar Point fans a bad name.

I myself am happy, we are all roller coaster fans, and traveling
to other parks is more fun then just the same old thing
everyday, but I do agree over the shoulder harnesses are no fun,
I went to Hershey to ride Strom Runner , and the
harnesses will beat the crap out of you, but it's still a great ride. *** Edited 1/18/2005 3:54:05 PM UTC by backhoe***

Jeff, you always seem to find the right words to help explain a situation.
Gomez, I did that little experiment on RCT3. I had a model of TTD that I built. It originally went 120.7x MPH and when I increased it to 122.8x MPH the changes in G's were minimal, less than +-0.1 .
I also did the math, KK does 0-128 in 3.5 which is 53.63 f/s/s which is the equivalent of 1.67g. Up the speed to 130 and the is 54.47 f/s/s which is 1.70g. (By comparison, TTD does 0-120 or 44 f/s/s or 1.375 g). Millenium Force is around 5 at the bottom of the hill, and I believe Wildcat is in that same ballpark. So the launch isn't really all that "intense" when compared to the forces experienced on other rides.
I'm not sure what the forces on the turn upwards are though as I don't know what the radius of the turn is. I would imagine the g's go up though since you again experience acceleration which will cause the g forces to increase

Goodbye MrScott
John
You should be HAPPY that this is being built. Man is developing! I mean, it was BOUND to happen some time. Cedar Point isnt always going to be the record breaker here. What is so bad about making things bigger and better?!

The topic is "Dragster offically 2nd Tallest". But according to the home page of the Cedar Point web site, Top Thrill Dragster is "The World's Tallest, Fastest Roller Coaster!
So who are you going to believe? Some lame park like SF or "America's Roller Coast" Cedar Point?
Also, if in your logic, the height of the structure indicates the height of the ride, (S:TE@MM) This means the worlds tallest coaster is...High Roller at 909 feet in Las Vegas. Or you can believe rcdb where they have an asterisk next to Kingda Ka, and rank TTD #1.
"I don't care how tall a coaster is, if the ride is not enjoyable and thrilling, the rest is worthless."
Jim
There's no reason anyone should get mad about this. It's progress on a particular design that some call too simple and a waste of time and money. Changes to this one means changes to the next one that is built. And I agree, trips to parks far from you can be some of the best times you may have.
Wow, still a kid, you're name fits you. KK is the tallest, CP is just hanging on until KK is officialy (sp.) measured by Guiness (I'm pretty sure that's who measurers (stupid sp.) it). RCDB only has an asterisk because KK is has not been run yet.
(Just wanted to point this out.) For those of you who don't know, I found out what Kingda Ka means. It means "omigod, what a ride" in Swahili.
Really fits the "theme" dosn't it.

You'll be surprised what pops up if you google "Ka". The results definitely go along with the tophat. ;)

I just looked at a copy of the Guinness book for '05 and it still has Dragster as the tallest/fastest full circuit coaster. Just found that to be amusing.
Ride Op '02-'07
The 2003 book has Steel Dragon as the tallest. They print those books in the summer or fall every year. Kingda Ka wasn't annouced yet. I bought the 05 book because of that being TTD's last apperience in the record book. I'm a true TTD fan.

Are they freaking serious!!! They have over the shoulder restrainst??? Those pieces of *#@! are way outdated and they really are uncomfortable. I can see a lot of ear clanging going on with that. The only good use for over the shoulder is with inverted or suspended looping coasters. You think that six flags would be smarter than that since i am guessing they took the over the shoulders off Mr. Freeze. Not to mention Batman and Robin The chiller. Makes no sense at all to have over the shoulder restraints on this. UGGGGHHH, one more reasone CP is better than any six flags.
For me personally, I am glad that Six Flags has built Kingda Ka. I feel that the people near that park have the right to ride something similar to TTD without having to drive so far. Those people near there will be happy to have a ride like that just like we are happy to have a ride like TTD. So, all in all, let us be thankful that others can enjoy what we have enjoyed for a few years now.
Cedar Point...my anti-drug
Well put.

I don't think I'd like to ride a stand-up or a flyer without the OTSR's, it'd be a little dangerous.
