That is probably the same size as the cups we used to give out free water in when I worked in Food Service at Kennywood. Our cups were a little taller, but much skinnier.
If you want a huge cup of water, then you can buy a large or medium-sized cup and request water in it instead of soda. I can understand the parks are in the business of making money, and they are not going to make their courtesy cups supersized. Also, they probably don't want you filling up with water and leaving no room for all the refreshments and junk food along the midway - haha!
The most annoying part about people requesting free waters was that a lot of the time they thought that since they weren't buying anything, they didn't have to stand in line. You'd a have a long line of people at your register, and some idiot would just walk right up to the counter asking for a cup of water, and not understand why you couldn't just "take a second" to pour them a cup.
I don't believe it. Cedar Point must be the only park who does this. :)
It's a free cup of water. It's purpose is to give you a quick refresh that's a little better than a water fountain. It is not intended to be a replacement for buying a beverage for your meal. This is not just true at Cedar Point, but everywhere.
Yeah, it sucks that Cedar Point overprices everything in their food world, but that's the real problem - not the size of free water cups.
This reminds me of people who insist on no ice in their drinks so they can get their full share of liquid.

Really?
Every restaurant I have been to, gives me ice water in the same sized cup that they put soda in.
Also, if I don't want to drink soda, does that mean that I am 2nd class and don't deserve a normal sized cup?
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Is Cedar Point a restaurant? I bet Cedar Point's restaurants would give you a big glass of water if requested.
Now, if you told me Cedar Point restaurants gave out small cups of water, you'd be on to something.
It shoulden't matter where I get a water from. It should be the same size as a small drink. That's just common courtasy. Now it's gonna cost them even more money in cups now that people are going to be asking for more than 1 cup at a time.
Like I said, it must mean that I am 2nd class in the eyes of the park.
If that's how you view it, I guess. There must be a lot of places where you feel like that, though.
Apparently, Kennywood has a similar size. Must feel like second class there, too? Maybe they get a free pass for being Kinzel-less? If they get a free pass because their food is cheaper, then you've found the actual issue.
Bottom line, a lot of people, here and elsewhere, are upset about Cedar Point's food prices. There is no outcry about the size of free water cups. Other than a few people here, Ive never even seen it complained about anywhere. I'd bet the vast majority of visitors don't even realize it's an option. You're nitpicking about something trival in a world full of things to nitpick.
I don't feel like that at kennywood because the prices there are fair and I will spend my money on soda there .
"There is no outcry about the size of free water cups. Other than a few people here, Ive never even seen it complained about anywhere."
That's because no other park has out of this world drink prices and has shrunk the size of the water cups in order to try and get you to buy a overpriced soda.

Then the food prices are the problem, not the size of the free water cups.
What I meant was that I don't see anyone complaining about (specifically) Cedar Point's free water cup size anywhere but here.
When at the park yesterday, the people that I did see drinking the free water had more then one cup. Take that how you will. And I did see quite a few people drinking the free water because of the hot day it was yesterday.
Food and drink prices are a big part of the problem. If your going to scalp people for a soda, don't punish them if they don't want to pay $4 and just want a water to drink. It's an insult.

Did anyone think maybe CP isnt trying to rip you off by giving small free waters, but instead are just trying to keep track of how many sodas they sell and just bought some cheap cups for water.I would like bigger free waters myself, but i would much ,much rather see cheaper food and pop.
I agree with you Walt. It really is nice of them to give you a 5 ounce water. Do they ever point at a water-fountain when you ask for water. If it cuts down costs, I totaly agree with Richard Kinzel.
Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc
Coaster Noob, they used to have larger clear plastic cups. I have never seen a cup that size in any other location.
Didnt know that touchdown ,guess CP is gettin cheap on us. Im almost positive we'll get a $7 mill. water flume instead of a $20 mill. coaster this year .Of course we are in a bad economy ,CP's probably just trying to find a balance.
I don't understand why you defend the park, Walt. That other parks do it, or the sky is blue, has nothing to do with it. It's just a crappy way to treat people no matter where it happens, and that's my issue with it. It adds insult to injury. It says to me, "We're going to screw you if you want to buy soda, and if you don't want to be screwed, we're going to make fun of you with the clown car version of a plastic cup of water."
I strongly believe that providing water is about on the same level as providing rest rooms. Both are basic human necessities.

I'm not defending the park. But with all the problems that exist, I just don't see this as one of them. I don't really think people are upset about this specifically, but rather upset as a result of high prices. I'm trying to focus on the real problem.
If Kennywood has the same practice, but it's OK because prices are better there, that tells me the cup size really isn't the issue.
They do provide water Jeff; in small cups and in water fountains throughout the park. Necessity met.
I think Walt is right. I think this takes away from what is a legitimate argument (food pricing in general).
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."
-Walt Disney
^Forcing your customer to buy a more expensive bottle of water, or soda is also a legitimate argument. While they may give you extra cups, it is not very convenient to carry those around.
Nobody is forcing the customer to do anything. Walk to a water fountain. It is the SAME water.
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

And no one says you HAVE to pay $20 to park at Landshark Stadium. Why not head over to 207th where parking is generally about $5? Is it because its' inconvenient? So you park closer in the city owned lot surrounding the stadium and are forced to pay more.
You get my point? Don't break down the words to make it suitable towards your opinion. If I want a COLD and REFRESHING drink that I can take in line and make it last the length of that line, I am forced to shill out $3 for a bottle of water. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but walking up to the cold fountain near Space Spiral and walking it back to Maverick just isn't ideal.
