Resistance is futile.
On a serious note, I would bet enforcement of this will not be as "efficient" as some would hope. Those who are going to break the rules are most likely those who already smoke in lines as well.

Oh and didn't you hear that there was a study out...

No, but I heard that too much second hand exposure to sarcasm can reduce your brain to mush. ;)

Heck, there's a cause of some kind of disease found in just about everything you use nowadays...even the things you need on a daily basis..

With what these kids now-a-days are finding out, just about everything will be considered dangerous and will have to have a limit as to how old you can be to buy it.
I can see it now, you need to be 21 years old with a dentists prescription to buy dental floss because some kid found a way to kill himself with it.:)

I suppose I haven't a chance then ;)
It's not about making it 'easier' for the smokers to make them happy. It's about having a policy that would have a greater chance at success.
I'll make an annalogy. I think we all agree that people should properly dispose of their trash at the park. However there are a certain percentage of people who are, for whatever reason, unwilling or unable to deposit that trash if they have to look to hard for a can. So the park spends quite a bit of operating money to have cans every ten feet to get people to 'pitch in'. Logically they don't need that many cans for the amount of trash on the average day, but to get as many people as possible to play along they provide more than they really need keeping in mind that there are still a percentage of people who will never make an effort.
I'm sure that some will have issue with that annalogy, but perhaps there are a few who will get it.
Anyway, how many areas? I couldn't say for certain, but i would say that one should be visable from just about any area of the park. Again the point is to make it so that the average smoker can't just say, "I didn't know about the smoking rules." or "I just couldn't find the spot, what does it matter if i'm over here away from everyone else?" If it's simple to see the areas and to direct people to them i think the park will have more success in enforcing the rule. That's it.
I guess i bring up the issue of health concerns around second hand smoke because that is the legal basis for banning smoking in public places. Otherwise it's just people complaining about how the smell of smoke bothers them. And i think anyone who actually looks at all of the different resources out there can easily come to the conclusion that the health risks of second hand smoke are overstated.
As i recall someone was talking about children and second hand smoke. I go back to the WHO who completed a study a few years back that showed no correlation between the exposure of second hand smoke to children and disease like cancer. To quote the study,
"Our results indicate no association between childhood exposure to ETS and lung cancer risk."
To then turn around and claim the opposite in a press release is fradulent at best. The inability of "scientists" to separate their predetermined results of a study from the evidence they find makes me dubious of the whole thing.

smoke 'em if you got 'em
Time for an update. Within the last two weeks they have added two smoking areas complete with white rocking chairs. One is across from the Game Day near where Raptor crosses the path to Blue Streak. The other is to the right as you cross the tracks to Mean Streak.
Plus, they moved the one at the base of Dragster's tower to along the channel before this season started.
There is also one outside the park near Challenge Park, close to where the Resorts shuttle pick up is near the parking lot.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I can't take it. I throw up many times when I walk by them. Can people get their Handstamped, and walk to their cars in Parking Lot. Then they can come back in. I have to put my shirt over my nose and mouth now. I am Sick with Seizures, and I can fall down with that smell or pass out. Yesturday the MF Train was Stopped on the 1st Hill and I saw a NERVOUS Person Smoke HA HA.

I haven't had more than a handful of bad experiences this year. Maybe three times that I can remember where someone was smoking in a queue around me or out on the midway.

Seriously? What condition causes this?

In addition to the one near Blue Streak and the one near Mean Streak (which I did not see) There is a new one on the Trail. I don't know how to describe this area... There is a fake train station with a dormant locomotive behind it. Its a raised area and typically during halloweekends there is a skelatal barbershop quartet on it. They now have the white adirondack chairs on this thing. (hopefully thats a good description)
Thank you, Cedar Point. Pushing us off onto these 3 person max benches was getting ridiculous. These are very nice alternative area's. If you have a problem, like our hypochondriac friend above, you will be fine. These area's are way out of the way.
I think these parks need to have a designated whine-ass section, so they can chill the hell out. I don't smoke, but honestly some people just whine about it constantly. I have seen very few people smoking outside designated areas this year. If they have designated soking areas and they stick to them what is there to whine about. Just think when the smoking nazi's fix all the smokers they will just start attacking all the alchol drinkers. And that would effect me.
