I can see the marketing tag lines now.
"New at Michigan's Adventure...DISASTER TRANSPORT. According to one high-profile executive it is, "A DOG OF A RIDE. Come check out Michigan's Adventure...2006!!!"
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

Leave the building in Ohio, just move the coaster to Michigan.
Or...re theme the whole thing. A Snoopy-Red Barron theme may work nicely.

Wouldn't you want to see Lake Erie from that side of the park with a different ride there MrScott? I mean what if there was a wooden coaster along the beach instead of Disaster Transport? How would you feel? I think it would be cool to go up a chain lift hill and be like right next to the sand or on the sand. It would have to be like Villian where the supports are steel and track is wood so that way you could put footers in the sand.
That is one thing that there aren't many of, or at least I haven't seen: pictures of the park taken from a boat on Lake Erie.

I'd bet that DT is on its way out, though it might not be this (off)season. Kinzel seems to have no illusions about how lame that ride is, and also probably can see the potential for the front of the park once DD and DT are out of the way. That would free up some considerable room up there for improvements. Now, personally, I don't see them putting a coaster up there. Rather, I think they might redesign the front of the park to improve efficiency up there - not that its all that bad, but it could certainly be better!

Not trying to flame you but just point out that wood coasters with wooden supports have footers as well. It wouldnt necessarily have to have steel supports. Although IF they did build another woodie it would most likely have the steel frame.

What's the propper name for those types of coasters anyway? And what I meant was if they built another wooden coaster it would have to be steel supports because knowing Cedar Point, some of the supporst might sit in the beach. I think it would be cool to see a wooden coaster like that take Disaster Transport spot.
Some call it a Hybrid, like Villian would be a Hybrid Woodie where as Gemini would be a Hybrid Steelie.
That sound right? Anyone?

Hybrids (or whatever they're called), IMO are pretty unsightly. One of the coolest parts of a woodie, to me, is the visual aspect. The massive structure that sprawls out underneath it when you look at it from a distance makes the ride seem enormous. Also, when riding it, the passing wood members increase the sensation of speed.
The hybrids don't seem to convey the same visual, so I'd rather see CP not waste their money on a hybrid and just build a steel coaster instead.
Brandon
That is exactly how I feel djDaemon, if you're gonna build a woodie, build a woodie.

I disagree... take a look at the Steel Structure of the Villian.

There is still a massive ammount of structure when you compare it to a traditional Steel coaster. Plus a Woodie with Steel structure can have steeper drops, sharper turns, and higher speeds that a wood structure might not be able to support.
As a side note consider that without steel structure, Son of Beast probably wouldn't have been able to have a Loop.

I'm not doubting that a wooden coaster with a steel structure would be fun, but it just isn't as visually pleasing.

Thats true (about SoB)... except it uses it for part of the ride only. Check this picture and compare it to Villian and tell me which looks more sprawling and substantial:
http://www.rcdb.com/ig584.htm?picture=3
Although a steel structure like Villian's is pretty substantial, I think it looks like a carnival ride. Kind of flimsy and cheap. The structure sprawls out, but the supports look like toothpicks (metal toothpicks, that is) and the ride just doesn't look right (IMO). Like Vince said, if you're gonna build a woodie, build one... if you're gonna build a steel coaster, build a steel coaster!
Part of what gives a woodie its 'feel' is the wood structure. It has a lot more flex and 'give' than a steel structure and gives a different sensation.
I'd rather have a hybrid like Gemini, with a wood structure and a (nice and smooth) steel track, as opposed to the other hybrid.

Id have to disagree....one of the top rated of all time wooden coasters has a steel structure....
http://www.rcdb.com/ig222.htm?picture=4
Basicly the steel structure alows a wooden coaster to be built faster and cheaper than an all wood structure and has far less maintanence issues while providing the same style of ride of a "traditional" wooden coaster. The steel structure is by far not a new thing. A lot of the coasters from the first golden age were built with a steel framework.

Yeah, I understand the benefits of a steel structure. Thats not what we're discussing here - we're comparing the aesthetics of the two types.

So eventually I will get around to putting this in a trip report.
Anyway, on 8-20 I was walking back by the Millenium tunnels and I noticed Monty Jasper. I stopped and he was really nice (I will post the details soon)
For some reason I felt the need to ask him why the Demon Drop? He and his associate (not sure who that was) both started laughing very hard. I mean extremely hard, and he said it was a space issue (GASP!)
Anyway, Am I the only one that finds this hard to believe? I may not be as I stopped reading after page 5. But it just seems so silly that the small foot print would make way for a new attraction.
If you had the $250,000 for the ride what would you do with it?
I would keep it at the point and move it to Frontier town with some sort of new theme. Maybe put Mr. Hydes right next to it. I guess I could afford it. If I could get a 2nd mortgage or something. I mean, it is less than my house.
