Demon Drop for Sale!

I would keep it at the point and move it to Frontier town with some sort of new theme. Maybe put Mr. Hydes right next to it. I guess I could afford it. If I could get a 2nd mortgage or something. I mean, it is less than my house.

I don't think Cedar Fair wants to do anything like that considering the line for Demon Drop on a normal summer day is maybe one queue space. And any other summer day is not even that. I'm serious you could walk on Demon Drop all day! This is why they are selling it. This is my opinion. They want to sell it to make room for next years attraction.

I vote for a Demon Drop 100 to say goodbye.

Right, But this is a hypothetical situation I am talking about here. Not a "what should Cedar Point do with it?" but a "what would you do with it?" question.

I already stated that I asked Monty and his PR response was to make room. You lost me when you said they are selling it because no one rides it and then went on to say they are selling it because of space.

I agree J., there are plenty of rides still remaining at the park that no longer fill the queues, I don't think that is the real reason, why remove a ride that still falls under the "thrill" category? I'd prefer DD over their newest, MaxAir any day. But I do agree that DD's space is valuable for a newer updated attraction, whether or not I want DD to go.

The Amazement Park

Who knows maybe if Cedar Point doesn't sell Disaster Transport, maybe what they could do is make it new again. And how they would do that is make it taller by 30 feet. I'm not sure how tall it is now, but I think that would bring people back to that ride. Make it just as scary as Power Tower in the middle of the park.

By the way J. Robert I'm an Idiot, sorry about that.

Mr. Hydes is down more then Demon Drop which I don't understand because Mr. Hydes was bult afterwards. I'm not sure the exact year, but I know Demon Drop is older.

Actually they were both built in the same year... '83. Mr. Hydes was formally The Edge from Great America, than spent a short time at Rocky Point in RI before ending up at Geauga Lake. *** Edited 8/29/2005 7:47:56 PM UTC by DemonDroppin'***

The Amazement Park

Apparently there is a new indoor waterpark going up in Columbus, Ohio called "Fort Rapids". I happen to know one of the guys in charge of building it/owns it, and he told me hes considering buying Demon Drop for the outside of the park....so for people who live in Columbus like me, you'll still get to ride it even closer now!

I thought Demon Drop was built in the late 70's...

Nope. 1983.

Then it's 22 or 23 years old, not the 30 I have heard here?

I wonder why the price was changed from $250,000 to "Call".

Does this mean they would take cheaper? or so many people want it that the price went up?

Walt's avatar

Or maybe they didn't want the asking price to be public knowledge.

Oops. Too late.

Maybe they weren't getting any serious inquiries due to listing the price.

The Amazement Park

Does anybody know how much DD cost to build?

It's kind of hard to take a pre-designed ride that is 22 years old and make it bigger after it has been built. 30 feet won't do much. Not my people will feel the difference.
