In place of Demon Drop will be the Worlds LARGEST lemon chill stand.

I just fell in love with DD this summer after being afraid of it for years. So this news is a bit of a shock.
It's like in A Walk to Remember when the guy falls in love with this girl during the summer and then she dies.
Hopefully what comes in it's place will be worth it, so I will wait to place judgement until then.

Magnum still rocks.
Wow I'm in shock. I've always loved Demon Drop. I remember not being able to sleep the night before we were visiting the park during its inaugural season(man I'm old) I was so excited to ride it. I remember it had horrible downtime and everyone was freaked out because people would be stuck up top just before the drop and a worker would climb up there and calm the people down. Man, I guess Intamin had downtime even back then, huh? ;)
I'm still hoping for a woodie on the beach, maybe this is part of that whole boardwalk thing we've heard rumors about for a long time.

Huzzah! ;)
If you look in the ariel map Ben posted, there is quite a bit of room there for development, especially if they would take out the pavillion and/or annex some of the employee parking lot. Of course they could always cross over the employee parking lot, ala Magnum, and build out onto the undeveloped beach past the parking lot. There is a whole lot room over there to do anything they want...

NO WAY! Cedar Fair needs to put something better than Demon Drop at Michigans Adventure. MI Adv could really use a nice steel roller coaster, not CP's rejects, they have enough of that already.
While I agree that Michigan's Adventure could use a mega/hyper coaster, my point was just that I think Cedar Fair could make better use of the ride at a different park that has fewer attractions, than to sell it off.
If Cedar Point wanted to move Demon Drop to Michigan's Adventure, why would they put it up for sale? It's not going to Michigan's Adventure.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Yeah. Relocate the employee lot to Fremont. It's not like they don't already put all the employees through enough hell.
Seriously, I could see them connecting the area between DT and Demon Drop, and cutting some of the lot out. But it's seriously torture to the employees when they have to park a mile away, especially for the employees who work in the back(Considering they couldn't even park in Soak City this year). That's not a fun walk to make after an O-C shift on Mean Streak.
I'll miss it, but only because I worked on it for a month. That ride can be fun to work, but it can also be hell (hehe, Demon). Riding it three times in the morning really did a number on my back by the middle of the day (I refused to test ride before being moved to Raptor). As far as maintenance goes, there are a few electrical problems but the ride is pretty solid. But this is only when there are riders and it's warm or hot out. Through out May and June you need to know only 2 important words when calling maintenance, Reverse Drive.
I wonder what's gonna rotate with the carrousel...Raptor Entrance-->Carrousel. Oh man, that would suck. Or maybe with the Space Spiral: It'll be the Space Spiral quadrilateral.
This is Absolutly awful. Even though I rarely ride it It still is a classic that should not be removed! I signed the petition. Number 110 here woo hoo!

OMGosh!
When I was there in June I was thinking, "When are they going to get rid of Demon Drop?" Sorry fans, but I'm glad to see it go. Power Tower is so much better in my opinion.

"If we can sell it, we will sell," he said. "If not, we will keep it."
If they can't sell it, sounds it'll be back next year. To me, that pretty much means there are no immediate plans for that area.

DD covers so small of a footprint that I don't see why they couldn't leave it there, cut down the queue space AND still develop that area. That IS a lot of space where the adjacent parking lot resides.

Plenty of room for development.

That's exactly what I am thinking. It's so small, what can you put in its place that is just as thrilling. At the same time, it's so small, why not move it somewhere else? Move it to the Disaster Transport area or even to the back of the park by Mean Streak. I am all for improvements, but do I want demon drop to go at the expense? No. It's a great ride and like the guy said, it didn't have too many mechanical problems. If you want to tear down stuff with mechanical problems, I know one big 400ft middle fingerish roller coaster right in the middle of the park.
Seriously, I hope it doesn't sale. I couldn't think of walking into Cedar Point without it being the first thing I ride to "Wake me up"

what if demon drop is not realy for sale, cedar point and ital are trying to draw our attention to the front of the park while they build the new ride/coaster in frontier town.
just a hunch, wink

Did anyone else notice the condition of Demon Drop (excellent, excellent, very good) compared to that of Mr Hydes (good, good, fair)? They're both listed at $250,000 too. Yeah, I'd take Demon Drop if I was shopping for one. Seems like a better bargain.
But like CP Bound said, would you rather have DD or a new ride? Personally, I'd like a new ride. They've obviously got something planned if they're taking out a ride that people still like.
And just because they said they'd keep it if it didn't sell, what makes you think they still won't tear it down and put it into storage to make room for a new ride?
