Boy sneaks on plane from England to Rome. How's that security working for you?

I must have missed the part where I said nothing useful came from back then. My point is many things have to be looked at differently now than they were 250 years ago.

So who gets to decide which parts are relevant and which aren't? Or is it just the ones that fit your view of how things should be are determined relevant, and the ones that challenge that view are irrelevant?

I would hope our elected officials or public majority would decide what is best for us all but this world has rapidly gone to hell so I have my doubts. I dont blind support any opinion or political party. I think the Ben Franklin quote is way too broad to live by. Airplanes didnt exist when Ben Franklin was around. Do you think he would have been happy if random people walked on to a plane carrying an assault rifle since there were no laws that said you couldnt?

You know what's really annoying? People who bitch and moan about threads they're not interested in. Go to the next topic and move on if you're not interested.

I suspect that some of the people who bitch and moan about threads are actually highly interested--they just enjoy bitching and moaning.

I feel wayyyy more comfortable trusting the foresight of our founding fathers 250 years ago than most of the clowns we have in Washington today

+10 to that.

+100 to that.

I am not as concerned about the "rogue shooter" that happened in Colorado as another kind of violence. The incident in Colorado is unpreventable at CP. No matter what level of security you have I don't think you can get ahead of a disturbed person with their mind set on violence. What scares me is the single person who snaps at the wrong thing and has easy access to a weapon to use. I've gotten into many fights and disagreements in lines at CP over the years. Line cutters mostly. In the old days we might have just thrown down right there and waited to get kicked out. But now you always must be aware of what someone is carrying. It preety easy right now for some thug to sneak his weapon into the park undetected. I work every day in the inner city of a major Ohio city and see the results every day of people snapping and having easy access and no regard for human life. That is my only case where I think the detectors would dissuade someone from entering with a weapon.

On a side note I was at Carowinds last weekend and as someone already posted it took minimal time to get through the detectors. Not for or against them just some thoughts.

Personally, I'm much more afraid of mauve or taupe shooters than I am of rouge ones.
