IMO....I think it will be a lot of years before anyone tries to break the current height records. Speed is going to be virtually unbeatable if Ferrari World gets its new ride open in Oct. as planned. With the current state of the economy not only at CP but world wide, the days of monster coasters may be on hold for some time. Look at Maverick, great ride, didn't break any huge records, and still one of the longest waits in the park.
You're right, but I wouldn't lose hope. The bit about the economy was, in my opinion, the biggest problem.
I used to think that Ferrari World's 150mph coaster was the last say in the record books for a LONG time, but I got to thinking. Gemini-60; Magnum- 70; Millennium- 90; TTDragster- 120. If Cedar Point did make a 500ft coaster, it would go about 160mph. And, so far the pattern has been 200, 300, 400 feet.
If any park would do it, it would be Cedar Point. They just need some kind of new technology, and money. It's possible, but not SOON likely.
The limit on building a taller coaster is not technological - it's a practical limit. There's simply no reason to build a coaster that high. Aside from a few wide-eyed kids, no one is clamoring for a 500' coaster, least of all park operators.

It kinda throws me off a bit that 2 sites were published but still aren't in use.
A lot of times that's to prevent cyber-squatting. They reserved the addresses when they got the trademark application in, and one will redirect to the other.
This keeps them from having the .com be an official site and the .net redirect to a porn site.
I'm sure we'll see it brought up and in use with a teaser about a week before the announcement will happen.

Did my breaking news get deleted? Anyway, I hope the announcement comes soon. I believe that if it was a coaster more work would be going on now. Im 99% sure its going to be a Starflyer. Anyone want to bet me?
I'd bet it wouldn't be. But who knows?

Tony posted "fun" all over the blog.
DJ tied "fun" to funtime who makes starflyers.
It fits every clue thus far and the area in question.
Nice recap, but in order to stave off the inevitable follow-up question...

And I'm pretty sure Screamscape didn't say anything about a Starflyer until well after it was posted here.
In fact, they first said it would be an Intamin coaster AFTER DK said it would not be from Intamin.

When I think of soar I think of something with wings or hang gliding or something, and when I think of strato I think of something really tall. What about a tall flying coaster?

While I agree it was laughable that he kept (keeps?) saying it may be by intamin after big Dick said it wasn't, the first place I saw Star Flyer was on Screamscape, granted he said Intamin, but Star Flyer nonetheless.

A coaster has been effectively ruled out at this point.
Let's assume, simply for the sake of discussion, that Kinzel's "not from Intaride" statement was false. Could CF get in trouble for a misleading statement (aka "lie") made by the company's CEO? I was under the impression that the company has to adhere to certain guidelines with regard to what they can and cannot say.

Except the clue about it being something linked to Cedar Point's past. People seem convinced Stratosoar is for Cedar Point, has that been confirmed?
There used to be a similar, albeit shorter, ride at CP in the past, and it was in the same area.

I think the clue about Cedar Point's past fits. There use to be a water swing out on the beach/water.
