The lack of any sort of thematic or special track elements is profoundly disappointing, especially in light of the present administration’s stated desire and demonstrated ability to include such additions in their recent projects. Frankly it looks like something Uncle Dick would come up with; a ride that’s big and tall with the only element being how big and tall it is. The most applicable word-based on the renderings & POV-is ‘meh’.
This is the kind of thing one would expect out of a small, regional park with a limited draw; build something big so they can state in their marketing materials that they have the tallest/fastest/largest of something. The difference is that the big thing at the small park is dull and uninspired because of the limited financial resources to make it unique and exciting. What excuse does Cedar Point have?
I’m sure it will be an exciting ride and I’m sure I will enjoy the first few rides. After that, what about it makes it different than anything else at the park? The only interesting aspect to this ride are the vertical drops, and not only are there no fewer than four other rides with those, it comes in third place among them in terms of height. It doesn’t add anything new to the attraction lineup, just pads the list of rides with similar experiences. A cohesive theme, a splashdown, tunneling, or midway interaction would have mitigated the blandness. Disaster Transport taught us that even the most pedantic attraction can be made interesting with the inclusion of themeing (strength of example perhaps not the best). That’s what we’re getting here folks; DT with the lights on.

Here is the video used during the announcement to announce Valravn.
Note: This isn't the full video used in the announcement. The full video had a "look-back" at the other rollercoasters leading up to Valravn.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't it be a nice idea to actually ride the ride before pronouncing it a profound disappointment? It's like looking at a picture of a steak at Ruth's Chris steak house and pronouncing it underseasoned.
I'm sure Beech Bend, Silverwood and Canobie Lake are kicking themselves for not installing a record-breaking dive coaster in 2016.
What a horrible oversight on Cedar Fair's part to have only the third tallest out of the handful of dive coasters in the world added to Cedar Point.

I love this teaser! I hope they put it up on YouTube soon.
Raptor rules the sky!
Congratulations to Cedar Point for once again building another beautiful looking ride. While there are a bunch of you complaining already, I am sure this will be another great addition to the park theming or not, new entrance or not.
Also, Congratulations to B&M for this being their 100th roller coaster built!

This will actually be the 10th Dive Machine in the world according to RCDB.
I am personally extrememly happy with this ride. I have been on 3 dive machines and have enjoyed all three. This should be an excellent addition to Point's line up and compliment the existing line up very well. On top of that its a B&M so it will be reliable and a people eater even at an estimated 1,200/hr.
Every off season I love watching people declare rides as boring or a let down as soon as or even before they are announced. The general public will eat this up. That's the parks main demographic. Not us overly critcial coaster nerds. Remember that people.
I was at school when they made the announcement, but I was able to watch YouTube videos of the ride on my iPod Touch. And I was grinning like an idiot the whole time. I can't wait for Valravn.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm still holding onto a slight bit of hope that there will be some theming or a tunnel of some sort. Maybe it just wasn't in the rendering because it wasn't finalized yet. That can easily be added in later in the construction process. This looks like it will be a great ride.

I don't want to be a downer, but I think the presentation lacked, there was little technical data, more then records, and stuff like that. I would have liked info on cost, project estimates, a little more flash. I just felt that it lacked, it looked like they just let people walk around, and get awwed by the track, a throne , and the social media machine. Sorry, I have done lots of media events from the Grand Prix, to a lot of music events, and it seemed to be missing something..
My opinion, that is all. I did enjoy the 3D glasses, it was quite amazingly fun! but again, thats fluff.
I guess, I'm a geek, I want lots of dumb technical data, and then the ability to widdle it down myself.

The random paver circles throughout the new marina/Valravn walkway seem confusing. Also, the queue seems kind of boring. The stone/wood walls are pretty random too.
I don't mind the crop circles. They carry the same design element of the front gate.

I'm sure some things will be slightly different. It is a rendering after all.
It would be cool if the music used in the video was the station music.
I live just south of Cincinnati, so I go to Kings Island every summer and alternate summers with Cedar Point (went 2014, going 2016). I cannot wait for this ride.
I remember playing "Roller Coaster Loopy Landscapes" and having Oblivion in Alton Towers. I've always wanted to ride a Dive Coaster ever since and now I'll actually be able to do just that!
Between Diamondback, Gatekeeper, Banshee, and now Valravn, Cedar Fair has been spoiling the state of Ohio. I'm so pumped to visit Cedar Point next year, especially since I haven't tried Rougarou either.
May 2016 can't come soon enough!
Count me in as someone who is also extremely pleased and excited to see how it all turns out. The announcement was done very, very well, and the "preview center" they had set up was very unique and a really cool way to get people to interact with each other. Decker, Ouimet, and McClure were all on hand, and having never met any of them I have to say, what I really took away from it all (beyond Valravn) was how much they all just seem to love their jobs and working with one another. Talking with Decker was just a lot of fun. He looked like a little kid on Christmas, and even got excited talking to me about the restraints.
There is also little doubt that Val will be visually stunning, especially that "world's tallest immelman" that is going to shoot out into the midway.
Does anyone know how long they are keeping the twitter-prize machine up? I didn't catch if that was just for today, or something that was going to stick around for awhile.
Fun times!
Promoter of fog.
I would guess that everything set up by the fence will be there through the remainder of the season. I'll be there on Sunday to check it all out. I hope Fall Freak Out participants can get a behind the scenes tour. They said there is still a surprise that won't be revealed until the day of, I'm thinking something like that could be it.

Jason sent out a tweet saying to check out the prize machine during Halloweekends so I'm guessing the rest of the season. At least I hope that's the case. :)

- Surprised nothing else for new for 2016 announced. Will there be no side projects this season? Other than a new Marine gate, surprised nothing else is getting moved or refurbed and branded "new" considering how it's been the past few years.
I think we'll see some other minor stuff here and there....on that note, I'm calling "dibs" on the Pan statue by the current Marina gate along with one of those lamp posts. It would look interesting in my yard (haha). Seriously though, sad to see that stuff go, but the new plaza does open the area up a little more.

Dick Kinzel called; he wants his 'the only thing that matters is that its big' attitude back. I said quite clearly that I'm sure I will enjoy it the first few times, but that it is lacking anything unique or interesting to make people want to ride it again. The general public understands this too, if not always consciously; saying that non enthusiasts cant understand that Valravn, TTD, Power Tower and WT all go straight up and down is rather ridiculous.
