That announcement was really well done... Hopefully they upload it at some point...
I took video of it with my phone because my wife wanted to see it but doesn't have computer access at work at the moment (which Im sure wont be the best quality, but hey, I got it lol)

If nothing else surfaces I'll throw it on youtube later on today...

Please post any links thanks

There's no splashdown blah blah blah

The station looks like a tin can, why isn't it themed like a castle blah blah blah

They didn't add any cool tunnels or other ride features blah blah blah

The trains aren't 10 wide, they're wasting capacity blah blah blah

They aren't making the marina entrance epic blah blah blah

You mean the surprise wasn't a 500 foot tall coaster that goes into Lake Erie and has 19 inversions?!?! blah blah blah

*insert other generic complaints and ungratefulness that Cedar Point doesn't care about here* blah blah blah

I think that the trains look nice and the use of vest restraints is a huge plus.

I would have liked to have seen a path connecting the marina entrance to Celebration Plaza to improve pedestrian circulation.

My only real complaint or concern is the Capacity. Why didn't they go 10 across like Griffon?

A Capacity of 1,200 per hour is about the same as Maverick.... and a lot lower than Magnum, Gatekeeper, and Raptor. I would have liked a tunnel or splashdown, but it still looks like an awesome ride.

When has Maverick ever hit 1,200 an hour? Especially with fastlane.

I don't feel like the extra 6 seats per cycle will matter much. They more then likely went with 8 across to be able to use the new vest restraints. Which after being on Oblivion, Shei'kra and Griffon is a HUGE plus. The vest restraints are considerably wider. So these trains are probably just as wide if not a little wider then 10 across but they'll be a heck of a lot more comfortable to ride.

And finally this is a B&M. It will eat lines.

The Theoretical Hourly Capacity of Maverick was 1,300 per hour when it was first announced. I agree with you that Fast Lane kills that. I hope the queue line gets some sun shade structures. Looks like a large mass of people all in one area.

I meant for the "Stand-by" queue it kills capacity. The ride overall will still have the same capacity. I'm assuming the new coaster will be Fast Lane PLUS.

What I'm most excited about is the connection from the main midway to the BS midway. I'm expecting to see some changes over there as well.

As for Valravn, how are any of you complaining. For years a Dive Coaster has been on the wishlists of many of yours. So because in the renderings you can't see a water splashdown, all of a sudden it's a dud? Give me a break. I'm excited to ride it, and I think it will be good for the park.

How do you pronounce it? I haven't seen any videos where someone says it.

This ride looks fun plus, looks MUCH better than the 70's styled theater and bumper cars.

As far as FL hurting capacity on Maverick, it does so by eliminating the single rider line. There are many more empty seats on those 12 person trains. Each empty seat is an 8% decrease in capacity.

Wouldn't it actually be a 4% decrease? Both 12-person trains are dispatched together, so they're effectively one train.

Brandon

Think of it however you want, but a 12 person train is a 12 person train. Plus, don't empty seats usually take more time for operators to deal with, thus, slowing down dispatch times?

Don't have much time to give a lengthy reply of how exciting this looks, but I feel like the path is very strange with circles and such. Could something else be going there too? It also appears that raptor looks repainted. Is this true?

Ok- I will just sing Cedar Point's praises. The coaster looks terrific.

Admittedly- I am a spoiled enthusiast who lives in Central Florida and has access to some of the top rated attractions in the world. Being an Ohio native, I spend my summers at the Point.

Is the expectation here that we are just supposed to worship the new ride and not offer any real criticism. I don't think suggesting a tunnel would make the ride better necessarily makes me a disgruntled enthusiast or a Debbie downer.

I'm passionate about the park. I want it to be the best. I just feel there are some missed opportunities with this addition that could've made it better.

Carry on.

Thabto -- During the announcement they pronounced it as "val-RAVE-in." Which is probably better from a marketing standpoint than the original Danish, which is something like "val-ROUN."

Thanks!

What I don't understand is: Why a Dive Coaster? Valravn is essentially the love-child between Rougarou and Gatekeeper. 1) It's floorless, 2) It's winged if you're sitting in the outer 2 seats in each side of the train.

I'm surprised they went this route and didn't go with a flyer, RMC or a dark ride.

Was Coaster Crew using a flip phone? Haven't seen picture quality that bad since 2002.

I am sure the Marina Gate will be completely new and not just a refurbished one, similar to the Beach Gate when Windseaker was installed. It might not be anything big and fancy but at least new. The ride looks good from what we have seen so far and I am happy with it. Id say my only gripe is just the amount of open space under the ride that they could put to some good use with water features (not necessarily one that interacts with the ride) and I was hoping they would keep the midway leading into the park in a style similar to the way it is now. Other than that it looks great and will be a great addition to the park.

No one said they didn't think it looks awesome. All anybody said was a splashdown or some kind of tunnel could have really added to it. Don't be a jerkoff.
