^The drop is bigger (double the size) on Pilgrims Plunge plus it is a little terrifying to go up that hill.

Ok, please don't throw things at me. We've just been notified of a clarification.
You must be 42" to ride, period. Anyone BETWEEN 42" and 48" tall must ride with a responsible person.
Sorry about that. But kids can still ride!

At least it wasn't a change to 48" as the requirement. Because that would have meant that things would be thrown at you. :)

That's reasonible. Kids should have a responsible person with them anyway. That is very similar to White Water Landing's ride policy. It was 46" or accompanied by an adult. I don't recall if there was a minimum rider height. But I have to believe it was at least 36"

I was there Saturday.
The pool was drained and it appeared they were refitting the bottom run-out. A lot of work seemed to be going into it with about a 10 man crew. I'll post a link to some photos later.
Great to hear about the height requirement. Hopefully this doesn't mean CP feels it has satisfied the "family niche".

I was there Sunday. Both pools were filled and they were testing for a few hours. I was really impressed with all of the detail and special effects. I got to see the testing from PWE, the CPLERR, and the STR deck, and I gotta say, it looks pretty awesome. I'm almost positive all the boats have come in, which is why they were testing. My only concern wass that the boat seemed to go over a huge bump of water at the bottom of the hills, but I think that will straighten out once there are riders in the boats.
Last couple of things: The water cannons were turned off on Sunday, which made me happy and sad. I was happy that they have the ability to turn them off without roping off the machines, however I still enjoy trying them. Also, the slapshdown dowsn't make a huge wave of water like SRF or anything, but it will SOAK the first two riders. Finally, some of the boats have these stupid, huge white 'Cedar Point' stickers on the bow, which seemed to ruin the boat a little bit, at least for me.
EDIT: I almost forgot. The railroad crossing is no where near complete. All the wiring still needs to be done.

Ha I could imagine a cold late October day and they've managed to make STR rideable without getting wet and the even have the water cannons roped off. Me after the final drop saying to my wife, "that was great and I'm totally dry" just as a kid jumps the rope and drenches me with every water cannon. Haha damn kids

I can't really say any part of the STR "vehicles" even remotely resembles any type of boat I've ever seen except for the fact that they float. They look like floating shoe boxes with Lego people riding inside.

I saw the boats go down the drop on opening day and it is not at all clear to me that the first two riders will be soaked. The bow on the boats have a kind of scoup which throws the water forward and down, it seams to me that the front two riders will not get any wetter than any of the other riders on the boat.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Pete, Although I haven't been there yet this year, that's the same impression I got from watching the video. I think the effects and cannons will be the bigger factor. But, I don't think you will get too wet on this. Though, I'm still going to bring extra clothes, just in case. :)

When I was there on Saturday it looked like there was no way it was going to be ready by the 29th. There were probably 30 different guys working on the final drop, all kinds of welding and cutting going on and the pool was completely drained.
Yesterday, however, it looked a lot better, the pools were filled up again and I think (we were roaring by on Millennium) they were even full testing again.
Referring to the previous page: The only reason I thought the first two riders would get soaked is what I personally saw during testing. Sometimes the boat would just skim over the water, I grant you. Other times, the splash would be kept down by this lip that you have been referring to. However, on numerous occasions, The front of the boat would have a wave of water engulf the bow of the "boat" and water would be splashed all over the first row riders. I'm not sure what to think of these varying experiences, but taking everything into account (wieght of the boat, weight of the riders, weather conditions, etc.) I believe that the last event will be occuring more often, as the added weight of 10 riders will surely cause the boat to create a more massive, soaking splash than the empty boat would.
realmadrid, I saved your boat argument for last. While I do agree that they are vehicles and look nothing like any boat I've ever seen, they do float on the water, and they serve their purpose as a "boat". I'm not going to get technical by quoting a definition of a boat or anything like that, but isn't a boat just something that floats on water and carries a load? Granted, Freedom of the Seas doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before either, but isn't that a boat too? I'm not trying to nitpick or anything like that. I'm only trying to make a point.
Anybody actually know if STR is going to run this weekend? I know the website lists the 29th, but anybody in the grand scheme of things know anything?

Yeah you are right but it was you that pointed out that the Cedar Point logo "ruined the boat a little" and I'm just suggesting that while they do serve their purpose as a boat they don't look like much more than a shoe box. I don't have a suggestion for how a boat should look in this situation I guess I just miss WWL's canoes.
