Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

Yes, but the new time is in 8 days.

Yesterday would have been a perfect day at the park for a ride on STR. Thunder Canyon and SRF were both busy, as it was a very hot day. The water was all drained, and it looked like most of the day people were slowly scrubbing/sweeping out the drained areas. 2 boats were parked on the first lift all day. Other than that, there was not a soul around the area aside from the casual observer.

Two boats parked on one lift? Interesting.

So, were those boats testing on opening day the revised boats? Or were those the ones "too big"?

...and in 8 days the ride will open and still no height req...

Too bad it's not going to be open this week. They are calling for some warm days. I believe that it's going to be 88 on thrs of next week.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Maybe it will open early like Maverick did?;)

Just dreaming. I highly doubt it will open this week and I am HOPING it will be open by Saturday...

CPboy - I would assume the only boats on the ride would be the retrofitted ones, since it has been noted that the boats as manufactured would damage the track.

^^ They were the retro-fitted boats. One was parked at the top of the first hill, and the other was at the base...about 5 feet up. Those were the only boats I saw.

FYI - the manufacturer has just given us an official height requirement: 42" tall to ride.

No other updates right now. Have a great weekend!

This is great news about the height requirement. As I said towards the beginning of the thread I would be happy with a 42" requirement. This is one of those times that I'm happy to be wrong.

On another note the whole area looks awesome and my son (who is 43"!) is psyched about riding 'Shoot the Rabbits' (or Shoot the Rapids to you and me.)

+1 for Intamin and Cedar Point. I wasn't expecting it to be less that 48". But, I wasn't one of the nay sayers either. :)

Yes, I am very happy with the height req.

Way to go CP! This will be a true family ride.

Good news. I'm glad that some of the smaller kids will have something new and exciting to ride.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Just spotted the serious water bomb action (in addition to the already seen geiser) on the island in this recent video of the ride testing... check out at 2:35 into the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te3Q3sx6GdU

Tony, you the man! My boy is going to flip out.

Awesome news about the height requirement!!!

Im kind of shocked Pilgrims Plunge at Holiday World has a 48 in requirement and Shoot the Rapids is 42 in. I wonder why that is if they have the same restraint system.
