Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

That dark maroon you saw on SRF was not necessarily rust. It was primer, though that primer may (or may not) be covering some rust.

Quick question. I'm not a whiz in the sense of primer colors, but isn't most primer white? In picture 10, it just seems that there is an excess amount of rust on the part that they haven't gotten to yet. Note underneath the lift as well as a few of the supports directly underneath the drop. They still have 3 weeks though, so no rush.

The official answer on this kind of thing is never as much fun as the conspiracy theory answer. :)

Primer can be tinted whatever color you want it to be. Most people settle for white/gray because they are going to put a coat of glossy paint over top of it.

In CP's case, the rust inhibiting primer is likely the only thing to go on, and so they got it colored to their specifications.

^But a rust colored primer to cover rust? Really?

Couldn't we have saved the extra $20 we spent to have the primer colored to buy a bag of Scott's Turf Builder for the old Demon Drop spot? ;)

I bet they save all the slightly off color primer paint --- for Mille!

What happend to the post concerning why only parts of MaxAir were painted?

Since the DD site was fenced off (basically they just kept the shape), and "we have a few weeks to go", my guess is that they will put in some new ground cover (foliage) and make amends for the trees and plants removed elsewhere in the park. At least for now...

^ Yeah, I saw that comment. Makes me a little nervous. I know we keep saying the same thing over and over, but hopefully it's just grass and maybe a few trees and bushes. No fountains, foodstands, or more permanent structures.

Tony already stated that grass was going in. Not that I expect facts to get in the way of a perfectly insane conversation...

;)

John's right about primer. It really depends on what kind of paint is being applied. Some primers come in different colors but may be for the same paint (be it gloss or satin). I paint with a satin paint and the primer is a light brown color. Though we did get a gray version of the same exact primer. I almost want to say that the rustic brown we're seeing is just the portions that have been sanded to the bare steel. Of course without being there, it's a bit hard to say for certain if it's a dark brown primer or just sanded portions.

Steel is not a brown-reddish color when sanded.

You guys must be too young to remember all of the rust colored primer that peopled painted their rust bucket cars from the 70's with.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I know, but it's a question of is it just grass? Him posting that there are a few weeks until we open, does that mean that, that will give the grass time to pop up? or that they have plenty of time for slightly bigger (but dooming) plans?

I think just grass will actually look good in that area. Why add trees and such when a new ride will probably go there in the future?

Also, Power Tower is testing on the webcam!:)

Dude... he probably just meant that sometime in the 3.5 weeks until they open, they'll find time to plant grass. With all this ridiculousness over grass, God help 'em if Tony ever admits they're planting shrubs somewhere.

DJ, a lot of people think that where Demon Drop was may be where the next big attraction goes. What is being done with that spot now will give us much better clue whether or not the spot has a chance. So yes, whether or not shrubs, benches, fountains, concrete, food stands are put in is valuble information.

Don't be such a hater ;)

I think we will see a new spot in the park for the Lemon Chill Guy this season. :)

I personally would like to see more dippin dots stands.

According to the comment section they should know the height requirement around May 3rd.

Wow....

That would be less then 2 weeks before they open.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

So start growing now! :)
