That was a great video.
It showed a lot of footage. I think it was just confirmed that you are going to get soaked on this ride :( .
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
^I think it was confirmed when Rob Decker (VP of P&D) said "You are going to get soaked on this ride". It was back in September.
You can get soaked on the other 2 water rides. I (and many others), were kind of looking for a ride like wwl where you don't get soaked. Just a little splah of water to cool you off, not clothes drenching wetness.
It just seems like they are adding another thunder canyon, or snake river falls.
I know they said they can control the wetness of the ride, but even on a warmer day, there are a lot of people that don't want to have to change clothes or walk around with wet socks for the rest of the day.
Will I ride it...yea.
Will I ride it more than once if I get soaked....probaly not.

The Funcoast article is the first place I've read that there will be paddle boats for "rent" in the STR lagoon. Was there a rental fee for the Swan Boats when they were still at Cedar Point?
I was also disappointed to read that the Red Garter will feature a Jimmy Buffet type experience. Like many...I really miss the live band, but Jimmy and his Island style music doesn't seem to be a good fit for an Old West style saloon. Hopefully it will be better than I am envisioning.
I think the funcoast people are just mightily confused about Paddlewheel Excursion, perhaps saw the name of it and jumped to a conclusion. When a 'news report' contains more stammering than a Porky Pig cartoon, and refers to the new ride as a 'water park,' I wouldn't consider them a very credible source.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
That funcoast reporter was horrible and should be fired! She called it a water park first off and then to make things worse she couldn't even talk about the ride in a halfway educated maner. WOW! 3 weeks!
Since the only access to the island is the employee pedestrian bridge, I highly doubt there will be paddle boats for rent. But, who knows what kinds of surprises they still have up their sleeves.

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so infrequently used?
It would be nice to see the park cover the tunnel with Ive or Clematis or some other flowering vines. To put a living roof of color over our heads that they could mist with water, or the rain could get through.

In looking at the video (ignoring the marketing speak of Innes) of the ride, and the images, I don't see it. The "rapids" section, as you can see, does absolutely nothing to soak the boats when the horizontal sprayers aren't on. And, of course, the waterfall section could be turned off, just as it is now. Sure, the splash-downs are bound to get riders wet to some degree, but if adjusting the water level can moderate that splash, you never know.
Stop listening to the marketing speak. Of course they're going to say the water ride is going to get you wet when they're interviewed. CP allows this coverage, and the accompanying interview, because it's effectively a commercial. Some people (presumably the people they're targeting this ride at, go figure) actually enjoy water rides, and that's who Robin (and Rob Decker previously) were speaking to. I mean, what else are they going to say? Shoot the Rapids, our newest water ride, is going to make you totally dizzy and/or provide lots of airtime! Plus, it's totally delicious and a great value!

Well they could just say its a water ride and you will get wet, but where is the fun in that?
Regardless I do think you will get soaked but since the beginning I didn't believe it would be from the splash landings. I am guessing it will be similar to the splash that Pilgrims Plunge makes, so the soak factor comes in when they add the water effects. This is why the park has said they can "dial back" the amount of water that soaks guests. When its cooler out, they turn the effects off and the only wetness you get is the little spray from the landings.
If you think about it, just having the waterfall alone will drench everyone. It's not going to be like Thunder Canyon where there is a chance you can miss it or at least lean way over to try and get less water. If there is a water fall that falls directly into the boat, everyone is soaked.
The Space Spiral is moving up and down this morning. Park...coming....to life....:)
Promoter of fog.
STR cam is now back. Is the pool on the mainland empty? It sure looks like it to me...
