Is there a reason we should expect those features not to be included in the final product?
Based on the fact that the necessary plumbing & electrical appears to have been installed, I'd say it's a safe bet that the island waterfall is going in. And yes, the plumbing for some type of water feature(s) have been installed at various locations throughout the splash ponds.

Obviously making the ride handicapped accessable was not the reason for the level crossing. I sure don't appreciate being lied to by someone from the PR department.
Obviously you are being incredibly insulting, I'm not even the one receiving your insults but "I" feel insulted by reading your post.
If Cedar Point wants to pay someone to run a railroad crossing why do you care? No bridge? Hey, great! Less steps to walk up and down.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I only ask because the ride actually having all of the main features in the rendering was a hotly debated topic not long ago. If a picture came up that said "Here is where the future waterfall would be", I think we would have confirmation that nothing material will be missing from the ride based on the renderings.
Well, they obviously didn't want to come out and say Shoot the Rapids will have six water bombs, 4 waterfalls and a sweet windmill, because if that windmill didn't end up getting installed, PointBuzz would crash under the weight of enthusiast complaints. ;)
That said...
Here is where the future waterfall would be. Those black capped pipes are, presumably, used to pump water to the top of the rock work, where it will then cascade down. Notice also the protruding conduit containing what appears to be electrical wiring, again presumably to power the pumps that will carry the water to the top of the rock work.
In this image, you can see another black pipe (again, presumably for a water feature of some kind) situated to the right of the first drop. And in this image, you can see a similar pipe on the left of the first drop, further down in the direction of Gemini. There may well be more of these that simply haven't been captured on camera.

There will be water effects in the canyon. How intense they'll be, or how the water is "fanned" out from the pumps is not yet known and won't be known until testing. These things require adjustment. However, you can bet on a waterfall of some type.
Besides, we want to save SOME surprises for you.

Very cool, I went back and looked at the animation, I'm such a newb I didn't even realize the canyon WAS the waterfall. Again though, the canyon looks much better than the animation, I don't know if things are exaggerated because there isn't water yet, but it looks freaking sharp.
It's probably more that in the animation (with all due respect to BadNitrus) the rock work looks like crap, probably because there's little point to spending much time working on that aspect of the animation.

Just wondering have they started filling up the splash pool on the island? I was looking at the web cam and saw there was water in it now. It could just be from all the rain we are getting. Just a thought. Maybe Tony can answer this or tell when they will start filling it up with water.

Tony already said it will be a couple weeks before it is filled. Whatever is in there now is from the rain. Since yesterday, we have received a lot here in Sandusky.

Lockers are a bad sign? Why? Personally, I appreciate the ability to be able to securely store water-sensitive items right there at the ride. And that gripping material is a good thing... have you ever walked on wet, smooth wood?It looks like if they turn the waterfalls off, and adjust the water level so as to reduce the size of the splash, this ride might behave similarly to WWL in how wet it gets riders. The more I see of the construction, the more confidence I gain that this is the case. Of course, we won't know for sure until they start testing this thing. Plus, ~95% of CP's rides don't get you wet - go ride those. :)
While I used to be firmly in the "I don't wanna get soaked on a water ride" camp, I've changed my position somewhat. Most of us here are pass holders, right? We choose a day to go to Soak City, and, of course, begin the day at CP. We either arrive in or change into our "wet clothes" (ditching wallets, phones, etc. in the car (in the SC lot, of course)), then head back toward the water rides and have a blast getting multiple laps on them. Once we've had our fill, we simply slosh our way toward SC.
I do, however, appreciate that on the cooler days, adjusting the wetness of the ride would be helpful for some. But again, it looks as if they're taking that into consideration.
What I meant by the lockers being a bad sign is that there's a need for them... If this ride got you wet on the level of WWL, then CP wouldn't have invested in them or the gripped walkways imo. In other words, they're preparing guests with lockers because they will get wet enough to ruin their phones and belongings...and wet enough that wooden walkways would be a slipping hazard.
And to some, getting soaked wouldn't be a bad thing at all. However, they already have 2 drenching water rides. If they just added a third, someone is planning very poorly -- because it's redundant and not going to appeal to families, especially grandparents. If we did a poll here or CP did one on how wet guests preferred to get, I'm almost certain that "lightly splashed" would win over "drenching dip in a pool."
But, I guess the good thing is that the water effects are adjustable, so if enough guests are unhappy, the water effects will be shut off or turned down. I'll withold further judgement until I actually experience the ride, but just saying...those lockers concern me...
Maybe they added lockers because when people here "water ride" they want a place to stash a phone. People would want them no matter how wet you got or how dry you stayed. People here 'water' and want a dry place for their ipod.
As for the non-slip on the walkways, I bet these are added because of how sue-happy everyone is these days. A park I consulted for this past summer added non-slip grit strips on their Scrambler floors because they were afraid people might slip when getting in/out. Its a Scrambler for crying out loud!
Still doesn't matter though because this IS a water ride and it has already been stated from the park that it will drench you. I am guessing in the amount that Thunder Canyon can do if you hit the waterfalls just right.
Even if there were no water effects some water would end up in the bottom of the boat--that's inevitable. Water sloshing in the bottom of the boat = wet shoes. Wet shoes mean non-stick surfaces to defend against lawsuits.

Could there be a rapid-drainage system installed into the bottom of the boats?

Yeah, just put a bunch of holes in the bottom. That'll let the water out. ;)

There's holes in the back that allow water to flow out as seen here on a Pilgrims Plunge boat.

Most all water rides have the drainage in the back so when the boat is going up the lift hill, it drains out.

There's no way I would have ridden WWL with a cell phone in my pocket. I highly doubt the lack of lockers near WWL had anything to do with how "wet" the ride was.
cp kid:
Yes, water will probably drip down from the lifts, but the boats have canopies on them, so PWE riders should stay dry.

In as much as the opening date is growing near I'm assuming that the island (shown in the middle of the splash pool on the rendering) will not be built. I do notice however that there is quite a bit of room on the opposite side of the rock work from the flume to allow for some additional ride element.... Note that there is also conduit and plumbing in place on this raised concrete area. Any guesses as to what is in store for this area?
a drunken skeleton jug band doing Celine Dion covers perhaps?.....
My apologies for this double post but my 2 attempts at an edit dont appear to be taking place....
I am guessing that there will be some sort of interaction between this raised concrete area and the dirt area on the opposite side of the river between the final drops footer and the station. This would place the WWL boats directly between this interaction as well as involve the STR guests. I also noticed that there is some sort of plumbing in the splash pool directly between these two areas. Perhaps this is some water effect that results from this "interaction".
Any thoughts
