Who is gonna ride STR opening day if it is in the 50's?
Not me but maybe in my younger crazier days. I did ride Snake River Falls on its opening day and if I remember correctly it was in the 40s.
Sandor may determine the rider height but lets not pretend that he just takes a couple of laps himself then comes up with a number. Obviously some type of measuring equipment and or dummies are used and he probably just signs off on it using his experienced judgment.
If it is indeed sensors that determine the ride height (and I obviously agree that is the case), then I question why Sandor needs to be there at all. Do the instruments only display the results in Sandorese or something? And how will Intamin determine ride heights when he dies?

Who knows. Probably just a PR move. If someone ever gets hurt it may (or may not) look good for them to say "We take safety extremely serious, in fact, our President and CEO personally rides each and every ride before the general public to ensure the ride is safe".

Is that a boat I see?
Very exciting! I can't wait to see one climbing the lift hill in about 2 weeks.
I can't wait to see the water start flowing in "rapids" area. (and testing too)
Visual Scan!
First Top Thrill Dragster train of 2011!
Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
There she blows! Good to see a boat on site. :)

I knew they were up to something today when it looked like there were some crew colored uniforms and official looking people down on the station platform early this afternoon.
I look forward to seeing the pools filled with water and see this thing testing.

According to CP's Facebook, Tony said that they will be dry testing this week. He said they hope to fill the actualy flume with water by the end of next week, probably about the same time they fill the pools up. If you missed the loading of the boat, some guy got a great shot of it.
I wonder how much is really involved in dry testing. It seems like all you could do is run it through the station section, unless they are going to use a crane and place the boats on the track near the lift hills and test. In that case though they better make sure it doesn't go over the hill!
I wonder when they will start filling the pool, if they hope to have it filled by the end of next week. I am curious how long it will take for the 2 pools to be completely filled.
Dry testing involves more than just moving a boat back and forth. We check lift chains, motors, photo eyes, blocking systems, electronics, ride operator panels, pump power, etc.

Cool can't wait for the water to start pumping and see some full on testing of the ride. Hopefully all goes smoothly and there are no major problems.
Now, they can drop it down the hills without water, right? I think I saw some footage of Pilgrims Plunge doing this during the early stages of testing, so I would assume that the same thing will happen in our case.

If you were a regular reader of our blog, you'd know. ;)
And no, we won't be sending boats down the hills without water.
