^^ There is a maintenance bridge on the island closer to Mantis that I imagine can carry some pretty beefy equipment.
Given that there is still heavy equipment on the island, and that cement trucks have been across the maintenance bridge, yeah, I think it's perfectly capable of carrying pretty much anything a traditional bridge can.
It looks as if the temporary land bridge was primarily a dam, and secondarily a more convenient (for large trucks especially) access to the island.

What's going on, on the extreme left side of the picture on Millennium Island? Is that all rockwork?
Ok, so the new pictures they uploaded today show the exit path having stairs that go over the flume.
I recall Tony saying that the railroad crossing was not steps and just a level crossing was because they wanted it to be "wheelchair accessable".
So they can get on the ride easily, but how are they supposed to get off? Throw them down the steps and throw the wheelchair after them?
Obviously making the ride handicapped accessable was not the reason for the level crossing. I sure don't appreciate being lied to by someone from the PR department.
I am not a fan of the railroad crossing during the queue either (I'm assuming you aren't). I personally think it poses a risk to potential injuries (stupid people) and will take away staff from doing more important things...I think a nice themed pedestrian bridge over the train tracks with a handicap-limited access sidewalk crossing next to the bridge would have been more appropriate, BUT, it's not worth whining about now. And we still haven't seen the finished project, so why complain about it until then!
My guess is that handicapped patrons will exit back towards the entrance queue, I don't believe Tony and Tyler would lie about the reasoning of how the walks were laid out...but what do I know?

^^ I take it they may not be done yet. Wait and see how the exit turns out before complaining. I highly doubt Tony was "lying" to you.
Great update though. I love the canyon area!
Well I would assume the secondary entrance for Special Access will be for just that... No one else will be permitted past the entrance host down that walkway unless they have a special access pass. This should allow the path to remain clear enough to allow special access quests to use it as as an entrance and an exit.

The idea of a bridge is pretty nice, but I can see one problem with it. When the trains pass underneath, the exhaust from the smoke stack will carry coal soot over guests waiting on the bridge, even get it in people's eyes. I think it would work for a diesel train but not a coal burning steam engine.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

First, please don't accuse me of lying to you about anything. I come on these message boards to give you as much information as I know. I (and Cedar Point) have no intention of misleading you. The information I've always released on this board is as close to factual as I can get.
You haven't seen the finished ride, so please do not draw conclusions and accuse Cedar Point of lying to you. We enjoy interacting with you (all), but comments like this are not appropriate. Just ask the question and we will answer.
Second, as far as I've been told, the main entrance ramp has a special access entrance on it. Riders can get on and off from the boarding side.
The photo you're seeing is the exit for regular guests who ride. It has stairs that go down towards the railroad tracks which is a level crossing.
We don't just arbitrarily decide to not do things (like add a bridge). We make these decisions for a reason. Sometimes we can tell you why, sometimes we can't.

I love the "eagerness" of this community to see how an access ramp is being built. ;)

I cannot believe someone would say that Tony and Tyler lied about something. That's not very nice. Tony & Tyler do their best all the time to give us the best news they can just like how he put it above. Well said Tony. :)
I'm getting an increasingly bad feeling about the water effects on the ride. The lockers are a bad sign, cough Snake River. Also, the ramps are the gripping material that you always see at water parks for bare feet...
That's great that the water effects are adjustable, but I wanted a flume that I could ride EVERY trip & every cool, breezy night. I have a feeling that this is going to be a soaker in the hot summer months, ugh.
It's funny...I don't even think of Snake River or Thunder Canyon existing anymore when I visit CP, as there's nothing I hate more than sloshy clothes acting as mops for filthy CP benches, seats, cars, & trains. I hope StR isn't added to that list, as I loved riding White Water Landing (and the Mill Race) each trip...even better when it was 40 degrees and no wait. The variety was so nice.
Lockers are a bad sign? Why? Personally, I appreciate the ability to be able to securely store water-sensitive items right there at the ride. And that gripping material is a good thing... have you ever walked on wet, smooth wood?
It looks like if they turn the waterfalls off, and adjust the water level so as to reduce the size of the splash, this ride might behave similarly to WWL in how wet it gets riders. The more I see of the construction, the more confidence I gain that this is the case. Of course, we won't know for sure until they start testing this thing. Plus, ~95% of CP's rides don't get you wet - go ride those. :)
While I used to be firmly in the "I don't wanna get soaked on a water ride" camp, I've changed my position somewhat. Most of us here are pass holders, right? We choose a day to go to Soak City, and, of course, begin the day at CP. We either arrive in or change into our "wet clothes" (ditching wallets, phones, etc. in the car (in the SC lot, of course)), then head back toward the water rides and have a blast getting multiple laps on them. Once we've had our fill, we simply slosh our way toward SC.
I do, however, appreciate that on the cooler days, adjusting the wetness of the ride would be helpful for some. But again, it looks as if they're taking that into consideration.

Are you serious? On what planet do you think an official representative from Cedar Point would come here to deceive you or anyone else? That's a harsh accusation based on nothing but a few photos of an unfinished project. Believe me, it's not something *I* appreciate.
Seriously, what incentive does Tony have to come here and share information if he'll be falsely accused of something?
You deserve to be bounced for being a dramatic douchebag. Wow.

New construction photos are up. The Canyon looks even better than the renderings IMO. Either way it looks sweet. I'm still wondering about the waterfall, if it's going in for sure, and what about the water bombs??
