I'm sure the engineering majors around here will correct me if I'm wrong, but a W support offers less support than an M support.
There's absolutely no way for you to know that. As RideWarrior pointed out, there are a lot of variables in play, most of which you (or any of us) don't know.
And yes... I was an engineering major in college. Then I graduated. :)

Just a few quick things to point out for today: 1) Another crane has been put on site. 2) They are pouring more concrete for the station, and by the looks of it, the station wall. 3) Yesterday two more supports were lifted into place and attached. They are the supports for the second lift hill.
@DJ, @EC09: I've been looking more and more at the supports, and they look like something similar to what they put on Diamondback. AKA not a support with two angled legs connecting at a key point, but one completely vertical leg and another angled leg, for more support. From what I've seen, this seems to be an extremely logical answer to our question, I don't know how I missed it before. You can see this vertical-angle support in more clarity as the support for the second lift hill. Perhaps it was the angled of the webcam that threw us off with that first one?
Also, not an engineer, but I am taking some engineering classes due to my unique opportunity for Post-Secondary education. Its great, and thats why I'm home right now. No college today! :)
I'd also like to point out that;
1.) It's snowing again.
2.) It's snowing again.
3.) It's snowing again.
:(
I'm impressed by the fact that they can mount the supports and just have them hang out there like that. The stress on the mounting bolts must be pretty incredible.
Brandon
You can't tell from the cams, but the angled supports are being reinforced and held by steel cable. No worries.
It's action time! I'm going out to take photos. Little tidbit: workers will erect steel on the island first, then work their way towards the mainland.

^^Absoluetly. I've never seen a ride built before my eyes before, but I gotta say, this one is pretty cool. I can't wait until the track goes up. That reminds me, I saw you guys talking about pre-fabs before. Do we know (or have an educated guess) on how the track will be built? I presume that the ground track will just be dug out and filled with concrete, like what is happening with the station right now, but how is the track that goes in the air going to be built? Fiberglass?
^Awesome. Thanks for clreaing that up Tony. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. We can't really get the up-close-and-personal view from the webcam, you know what I mean?
I wonder how many little kids it would take jumping up and down on the single support extending out for the second lift for it to break? ;) I'll go 19.
There is no track in the concrete flume channel. The hills are essentially coaster track, as you can see here.
Brandon
10:30: Track is being placed for the second lift. It appears they have just placed at least the second piece.

Since Tony is out there taking pictures, let's play "Where's Tony?".
First to post a picture of him circled on the webcam taking pictures wins! :)
CP fan - where do you see track going in? I see supports, but am just wondering if I'm not seeing the track being attached.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Looks like track at the bottom of the second lift hill coming up and out of the approach to the lift.
^Yep. It's the lift portion of the second drop. It's about half way to the top now.

Tony is that you?
Not me, but I was out there today. Photos likely coming tomorrow. We're having minor issues with our photo gallery.

Looking at the webcam, looks to me like there having water issues where they poored cement yesterday, seems to bee all flooded,i see a pump trying to pump out water, could this be a problem, water table must be way high.
They've been pumping water since day one. The park is sitting on the lake. Yes it has a high water table.

Anyway, click for more photos and info.
