Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

I never said it wouldn't. I was just saying the landscaping will look very nice next year when it's hopefully running for the full season :-)

Hopefully this week there is an update of some kind! I'm getting antsy here waiting for Shoot the Rapids to open. I want to ride it and get pictures of it. :)

Well I'm going tomorrow and I'm assuming it will not be open. Too bad, because it's going to be pretty hot tomorrow.

Checked things out on Saturday and the place was a ghost town. No water in any part of the ride and no boats to be seen. I looked around best I could inside of mean streak and behind Gemini area and did not see anything hiding there either. I did not even see the boat that someone saw coming in on a truck a couple of weeks ago. Things do not look good for July fourth weekend from what I can tell.

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

I was there today (Sunday) and the boats were back behind the storage building. You can see them from ridding the Millennium. There were metal guide rail parts scattered in the flume with not a single worker to be seen! Also no water in the trail side, but a few inches on the island side.

I'm starting to doubt the ride will be open for the 4th of July...

There's no sign of testing starting very soon and even if it did (by any miracle of a chance) start testing today or tomorrow, it would still be cutting it close for an opening by late next week.

Strange how the webcam for STR is still down.

Reminds me of PT Barnum's "hurry and see the egress!" approach to crowds that wanted to decypher the real situation for themselves.

Just to keep the convo going...how long of a delay did Maverick's roll-removal cost?

I think there is still small hope for a fourth of July opening...that is still over a week away. The boats just need to get to CP now. :)

Promoter of fog.

It was, what, just shy of three weeks? To my mind, at any rate, it was impressive as hell how quickly they redesigned, built, and swapped out the offending track.

I don't know...I hope so too, but that's only about a week away and we would need to see boats on site and testing within a couple of days here.

Yeah, the Maverick roll replacement was impressively fast. But to be fair, it's not like the new track "element" was complex. I'd wager that retrofitting 10 boats (twice, apparently) is a vastly more complex & time consuming process.

There are rumors that the Maverick replacement was anticipated at some point during construction. Several folks noted that it was "unnaturally" fast to manufacture a replacement piece that fast.

Obviously, they didn't "anticipate" the STR delay.

See, Intamin is going downhill. When they can no longer predict their startup failures.... ;)

Not to mention they have to get the state inspectors back in to approve the opening of the ride as well.

And refill the water as well....

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Not sure if it's true or not, but I was reading another site, and someone was at the park this morning, said that str was testing this morning.

They also said that it may open this weekend.

Not sure how true this is, but just thought I would post it here.

Not only that, but they have to pass it too. Who knows if the new boats will work? Its Intamin. It could take 4sets of new boats before they finally get it right. ;)

I just hope we don't get any trims :-)

Crazy Horse if thats true, that's really good news. I don't know about being able to open it by the weekend but if they can that would be even better. Maybe they want to win the bet over on coasterbuzz hahaha
