On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, Maverick was having a rough day. It was down for most of the last hour of operation. They got it back up just before close and announced the the line would remain open for about 10 extra minutes. I was right at the front and was able to ride and get back in line again. By the time I got to the point where I was next again, the ride once again went down for mechanical. They decided the ride wouldn't be open anymore that night. So, for the people who were still there, they told us we could go to the exit of Millennium to get the last ride of the night. By the time we got there, Millie had just given it's last ride to the people in line. They then walked us up the exit and gave us the final ride of the night. Everyone there was very appreciative.

Now is it CP's fault for continuing to go with Intamin? I suppose, but Intamin has made all of my favorite rides at the park, excluding Magnum...so is that a bad thing?
Amen! I've read a more than a few suggestions that they avoid Intamin next time, but what does that mean? B&M? GCI? Vekoma? If it was up to me, I'd take the delayed openings + Intamin any day. Now, S&S / whatever-is-left-of-Arrow is a different story... wouldn't mind that at all.
So, what would be wrong with a B&M or GCI? I'd love to have a GCI in the park. I'd only want a Vekoma if it were of the quality that you see on Everest at Disney's Magic Kingdom or Montaa Russa in Spain.

Nothing, really, would be wrong with B&M or GCI... just that it'd take up space that could be better used by an Intamin :)
True, if Cedar Point asks for a specific unique concept (like Disney asked of Vekoma), then I don't care who builds it.
Actually if I had my pick, I would take an Intamin woodie over any other company.
El Toro is simply one of the best rides I have ever been on in my life, period, and easily (in my opinion) beats out any other woodie I have ridden; including Thunderhead or a sentimental favorite, the Beast.
So, even for a great woodie (which I think they need), Intamin would get my vote.
Promoter of fog.
Well, seeing as how Dick said they had no plans for an Intamin Plug-n-Play, I wouldn't hold my breath.

(I posted this in the News forum, but thought I would post here too)
Just got back from the park.
They are definitely getting NEW boats. The old boats are scattered outside the warehouse that was built near Shoot the Rapids.
I could be wrong- but if the boats are being modified, I don't understand why all 10 of them would be sitting outside the ride, with no one working on them. Kinzel said company is working "three shifts" to get this right. I would assume they are working "three shifts" to create the new boats...

^Do you think if they did have plans for it he would tell us? Of course not.
The question was asked at CoasterMania (last year or 2 years ago, I don't remember which) "Would you ever consider building a Intamin Prefab?", Dick responded, "We have no plans of building an Intamin Prefab"
They never directly answer questions when they are trying to be evasive. So, even if they change their minds about it, I wouldn't look for one any time soon. With the park being on a 5 year plan for major attractions, That would put one out at least 3 years (if they changed their mind).

It's all Tony & Tyler's fault! After all, they tested the STR boats way back on December 7th.

I bet Ed's hair is a lot whiter (that is, if he has any left) today as he was when the Pointcast was originally shot.
I'm really not concerned if I'll get up there to ride STR anyway. I think the whole situation is funny with the ads heard on the radio everyday. I laugh everytime about the "Shoot the Rapids to open soon..." It's like they've been saying it forever! lol :)
On Tuesday, our Paddleboat Excursion captain was cracking wise about its indefinite opening schedule.
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

And you know this how?? On Thursday evening there was 1 boat sitting out there. Could it be that they had to remove some things before sending them out for modification and they just now completed that process? Or, have they alredy finished the current set of modifications and they are back to be tested?? Lets see now, it's, I think it might be..OK I'm just guessing here. I really dont' know which one it is!!
Why ride coasters? Becuse there is NOTHING better to do than riding a coaster!
^^Ours did that too. "Largest, tallest, fastest, most expensive, non operational water ride in the world." :)
Let's Get Weird.
Today, we saw a StR boat on the back of the truck being loaded onto the ride site at about 3:00. Can't say for sure if it was new or just modified; however, it provides hope that the opening can't be too far off. Security was stopping people to make room for the truck, which was going to the site via the path by Mantis.
This evening while at the park we noticed that the water had been drained from STR (was full of water Wednesday) also there is at least one boat on site took a pic but was to dark.

If Shoot the Rapids is like most flumes, when the pumps are shut down the water will drain out of the flume and into the reservoir.
