Cedar Point Announces New Water Ride for 2010 Season

Cedar Point survived 141 seasons w/o this version of STR, I think they will survive this delay.

By the time they get it running, it will be too cold to ride, lol. Kidding. I hope. Hopefully it's up and going soon!

Maybe the 2011 ride DK was talking about was Shoot The Rapids and it just wont open till next year. :)

I didn't see any boats testing today. Granted, I wasn't watching it 24/7, but still... :(

I can just imagine the boats coming off the lift hill with the "drop" before the drop like all the B&M lift hills.

I wonder if anything was mentioned at Coastermania about the rides current state?

I agree. In my opinion, there are a lot more kids today who are very spoiled. Everything is instant gratification. Knowing you can't always have everything when you want it is a very good lesson to learn. Otherwise they grow up with an entitlement complex. I've been trying to instill some of this into my nieces and nephews.

They were disappointed that they couldn't ride. But, they weren't mad. They had plenty of other stuff to ride and they had a good time doing it.

These kids are far from spoiled and found out the hard way about not always getting what you want. Being able to explain to them prior to getting to the park that its not open is easy going. However, due to the lack of updates from Cedar Point about its opening makes it a lot harder. Yes the kids got over it and moved on and had a very good time, but knowing prior to arrival would not have added so much frustration to their day and mine.

Watching the ride work with people on the internet is basically the ultimate con to a 5 year old.

I didn't say your kids were spoiled. I was making a generalization about the state of today's society.

I Just heard STR (from screamscape,thrillnetwork +costerbuzz),, Not to look forward to Str opening for quite some time ,,,More Problems Found (?) ,,What I want to know is why CP isnt telling us anything ...... bad bad news up river !!!

What do you want them to tell you? Detailed press releases with design drawings outlining what the issues are so all the PB amateur engineers can show them how they should have done it?

Just to be honest and maybe tell us what the what the problem is in laymans terms.

Is that asking too much?

The ride's not ready and we're not sure when it will be open.

Is that lay enough?

What other detail do you really need them to provide?

I Agree,, TIME TO BE HONEST !! Treat people right , (honest news) Seems to be a growing problem , not like the older days when they were making money , maybe some changes are needed

I agree with John. I'm not sure what other details are necessary other than:

-- It's not open

-- We're working on some issues with the ride

-- We'll let you know when we're able to open the ride, but we don't have a projected date at this time.

And, Cpmiker, how are they not being honest?

Seriously, I think some of you are this close to writing President Obama and asking for a federal investigation. :)
